Super Gene Hunting Ground

Lan Xin’s figure flickered, and with a backhanded strike, her longsword targeted Yang Xiao. A four-meter-long Sword Qi split the void, unstoppable.

The Sword Qi was Lan Xin’s ace against Yang Xiao, compensating for some of the disparity in their realms.

Yang Xiao soared skyward, attacking from above with one of the last three moves of the Divine Mountain Sword Skill called Snow Cage Divine Mountain. A myriad of sword shadows overwhelmed Lan Xin, the force was so intense that everyone at the scene held their breath.

Xiao Lan even sweated for her senior sister; Yang Xiao, after all, had the advantage of the Enhanced Gene at Intermediate Level. Although he was not as skilled in specific techniques as Lan Xin, his attacking power was formidable, and she couldn’t block him head-on.

”Good!”

Lan Xin shouted, her body shuddered, and beneath her arms, two ethereal wings of air emerged. With a fierce flap, she flew over twenty meters away, causing Yang Xiao’s sword shadows to miss.

Lan Xin counterattacked with a strike, unleashing the Ice Sealing Divine Mountain. A powerful white Sword Qi tore through the air, leaving a trail of white frost mist in the sky. The air suddenly contracted, creating a crunching sound as large clusters of egg-sized hail plummeted from mid-air.

At this moment, Yang Xiao was in mid-air, unable to evade using leverage, and without wings like Lan Xin, his dodging was considerably slow.

In an instant, Yang Xiao unleashed his Defensive Light Shield, covering himself as he drifted downward, the Light Shield blocking the frosty Sword Qi and instantly forming a thick Ice Shield.

Per the rules, Lan Xin was not allowed to remain hovering in mid-air using her wings for too long, otherwise, it would be unfair since Yang Xiao could not fly.

Lan Xin flickered her wings, pressing down with her longsword toward Yang Xiao, using the move Divine Mountain Avalanche.

Hundreds of enormous Sword Qi hailstones rolled down from the sky towards Yang Xiao, thundering loudly.

After acquiring the air wings, Lan Xin’s move was even more potent since she could occupy superior spatial terrain, gaining the high ground and overwhelming everything beneath.

This time, everyone feared for Yang Xiao; without using his Soul Skill, it seemed difficult for him to break through Lan Xin’s Divine Mountain Avalanche.

Huang Wen, Qin Yu, and others even closed their eyes, unable to watch, fearing for Yang Xiao’s safety.

Even Monk Ben Yin furrowed his brows, his expression solemn.

Just then, Yang Xiao let out a long howl, unexpectedly facing the incoming Sword Qi hailstones head-on, holding his longsword and striking them fiercely!

There was a thunderous crack,

A snap!

Yang Xiao’s longsword surged with immense killing aura, forcefully colliding with the rolling hailstones.

Boom!

The massive hailstones shattered, scattering in all directions.

Seeing Yang Xiao confronting the Divine Mountain Avalanche head-on, Lan Xin was shocked and quickly withdrew her sword move, drifting downwards.

At that moment, to everyone’s surprise, Yang Xiao leaped upward more than twenty meters, slicing through the dispersed Sword Qi hailstones and thrusting at Lan Xin.

Lan Xin, preparing to descend, hadn’t expected Yang Xiao to suddenly break through the frost mist and lunge at her with his sword. In a rush, her longsword swept horizontally at Yang Xiao, producing Sword Qi only about two meters long.

Yang Xiao gave Lan Xin no chance, suddenly unleashing Sword Qi from his longsword, about two meters long, aiming straight for Lan Xin’s throat.

Ah!

The crowd gasped in astonishment.

Yang Xiao’s speed was too fast, and the Sword Qi had unexpectedly lengthened, catching Lan Xin off-guard. Now helpless to save herself, she could only stare dumbfounded as Yang Xiao’s Sword Qi approached.

Yang Xiao smiled, instantly retracting his Sword Qi, having already rushed to Lan Xin’s side. Casually, he wrapped his arm around Lan Xin’s slender waist and floated down from mid-air.

Lan Xin looked at Yang Xiao, their eyes met, and they breathed each other’s air, her heart pounding electrifyingly, tingling intensely.

This dramatic change left the onlooking crowd utterly astonished.

Lan Xin didn’t bother to struggle; instead, she hooked her arm around Yang Xiao’s neck, letting him hold her as they descended to the ground.

Yang Xiao landed in the center of the square with Lan Xin, and the onlookers finally came to their senses, voicing their dissatisfaction towards the pair.

”Too much, how is this a martial contest? It’s simply bullying single dogs!”

”Damn it, isn’t the boss going too far? Even in a contest, he’s showing off his affection?”

”I don’t want to see them together anymore.”

”Ah, I really feel sorry for Sister Huang Wen.”

”And Qin Yu,”

....

Initially, Lan Xin thought Yang Xiao might defeat her after thirty moves, but she didn’t expect it to end in less than five.

”You cheater, your Sword Qi can clearly reach 2 meters, but you usually pretend it’s only just over a meter.”

Lan Xin struggled out of Yang Xiao’s embrace, glaring at him.

Yang Xiao laughed:

”I didn’t defeat you because of the Sword Qi.”

Lan Xin thought for a moment, nodded, and sighed:

”That’s right, your Genetic Evolution Level is higher than mine. After cultivating Ancient Martial Arts, you can play to your strengths and easily defeat me.”

”Exactly, the last move, I resisted it purely with the power of Genetic Evolution. The power of Ancient Martial Arts lies in its flexible and varied combat style, quick evasion, and finding opportunities to strike the opponent’s vital points, not just withstanding hits.

Though I lost to you in Divine Mountain Sword Skill, my raw power still remains. Combined with Divine Mountain Light Skill, which compensates for my movement speed shortcomings, many times, I don’t even need to use Divine Mountain Sword Skill; I can resist attacks just with the power of Genetic Evolution.

So, for Ancient Martial Cultivation and Genetic Evolution, they must be combined and used together, and one can’t rely solely on one technique.”

Lan Xin nodded and said:

”You won!”

Yang Xiao laughed:

”Winning and losing are temporary; maybe after some time when your Genetic Level improves, you’ll be able to defeat me.”

At this moment, Monk Ben Yin and others came over, applauding:

”Yang Xiao, you opened my eyes today, helping me understand how Ancient Martial Arts and Genetic Evolution complement and enhance each other. We must flexibly use the techniques of Ancient Martial Cultivation and the power of Genetic Evolution.”

Yang Xiao laughed:

”Monk Ben Yin is too modest. Starting tomorrow, I will practice Shaolin Martial Arts, and I ask for your guidance.”

”Haha, sure, I couldn’t ask for more. Training and exchanging ideas with a master like you will help me rapidly improve my own cultivation.”

....

Near Nanmu City, in Zhu City and Golden City, fierce battles are currently erupting.

Xie Jun and Zhou Hua, who were driven out of Nanmu City by Yang Xiao a year ago, came to Zhu City with five hundred men after leaving Nanmu City. The two, with their five hundred elite, quickly seized control of Zhu City using about a dozen assault rifles and further subdued genetic stores in several nearby towns, becoming the kings of Zhu City.

Xie Jun and his group lay low in Zhu City for a year, implementing extreme military rule, commanding their 20,000 subordinates to hunt Ice Fish and monsters extensively and collect most of the Genetic Fragments resources.

Using these resources, Xie Jun prioritized enhancing himself and Zhou Hua to Enhanced Gene Primary Level, and most of the five hundred elites he brought were upgraded to above Primordial Gene Intermediate Level.

After the winter, Xie Jun led his people to hunt Mutated Creatures extensively and finally accumulated enough resources to break through to Enhanced Gene Intermediate.

As their power increased, so did their ambitions.

Consequently, Xie Jun set his sights on nearby Golden City and led his men to launch a surprise attack. After a bloody battle, Xie Jun captured Golden City, becoming the ruler of two cities.
