Super Gene Hunting Ground

Lan Xin took Yang Xiao around the yard and they arrived at a pavilion in the central garden, where they stood and chatted leisurely.

Lan Xin asked Yang Xiao where he had gone after leaving the desert. Yang Xiao simply said that after returning to Nanmu City, he had been tied up with some matters and couldn’t make it back to the desert, and naturally, it was inconvenient to mention his solo return to the Desert Canyon.

Xue Mei hurried over, shouting from a distance:

”Sister Lan Xin, Brother Mo Yan is here, in the main hall ahead. He said he wants to see you, I asked him to wait, but,”

Before Xue Mei could finish, a tall figure in a white Snow Fox fur robe appeared behind her, his face fair and handsome, exuding an extraordinary aura.

He wore a crimson longsword at his waist.

”Sister Lan Xin, I have urgent matters to discuss with you, so I couldn’t wait for Xue Mei to announce my arrival and followed her in,”

Then, the handsome young man saw Yang Xiao standing with Lan Xin under the pavilion admiring the snow scene, his expression froze for a moment, and he paused, his eyes fixed on Yang Xiao, with a hint of surprise.

”Sister Lan Xin, who is this?”

Lan Xin responded indifferently:

”Brother Mo Yan, what is so urgent? This is my friend, Yang Xiao.”

Mo Yan looked at Yang Xiao and asked:

”Sister Lan Xin’s friend? How come I’ve never heard of him before? May I know which sect Brother Yang belongs to?”

”Do I need to inform you about my friends?”

Lan Xin’s tone was very cold.

Hearing this, Mo Yan’s face turned a bit awkward and he said:

”Oh, I didn’t mean that. I am just concerned about you, Sister. In these apocalyptic times, people outside are mixed, and with no elders around to look after you, it’s better to be cautious about whom you befriend!”

After saying this, he gave Yang Xiao a meaningful look.

Yang Xiao chuckled and said:

”Do I look like a bad guy?”

”Whether someone is a bad person or not can’t always be judged by appearances. Some people look harmless but who knows what they are thinking inside?”

Mo Yan said coldly, his tone somewhat provocative.

”Yes, just like Brother Mo here, right?”

Yang Xiao laughed.

Lan Xin and Xue Mei smiled faintly.

Mo Yan’s face changed, and he spoke sharply:

”Brother Yang, may I know which sect you are from? Can we have a few rounds of sparring?”

Following the apocalyptic change, Mo Yan became quickly dominant due to his rapid genetic evolution and eventually became the leader of Divine Mountain Sect’s North Garden. Being a former prodigy of the Divine Mountain Sect’s North Garden, he always had a high opinion of himself.

Now, having surpassed the Enhanced Gene Primary Level and enhanced his ancient martial arts power, no one within both the southern and northern yards of Divine Mountain Sect could match him, except for Lan Xin. Everyone treated him with great respect, and the fellow disciples frequently advised Lan Xin not to confront Mo Yan directly.

Mo Yan has always harbored feelings for Lan Xin, thus he has been very tolerant with her. However, seeing Yang Xiao standing beside her today, seemingly very close, ignited jealousy within him.

Mo Yan couldn’t confront Lan Xin directly, but he would not be polite to Yang Xiao.

The so-called sparring is actually a challenge to a martial arts duel, a common tactic within the martial arts circle to teach someone a lesson.

In the martial arts circle, interactions are governed by martial prowess and respect through combat.

Mo Yan’s challenge to Yang Xiao was apparent.

Lan Xin’s face turned cold immediately as she said:

”Senior Brother Mo Yan, don’t you think you are being rude? Yang Xiao is my friend. What do you mean by making things difficult for my friend in front of me? Do you really think you are the new Sect Leader of Shenming Mountain Sect?”

Mo Yan’s face flushed red, and he defended himself:

”Sister Lan Xin, I was just joking around. Besides, we are all people of the Martial Arts Circle, it’s normal to spar when meeting.”

”Yang Xiao is not from the Martial Arts Circle.”

”Ah?”

Mo Yan looked at Yang Xiao and suddenly smiled:

”So Brother Yang is not from the Martial Arts Circle. Alas, since the apocalypse, everyone relies on Genetic Evolution, even those who didn’t know Martial Arts have started learning some moves; many people’s egos have inflated, thinking they are invincible...”

”Senior Brother Mo Yan, did you have something to discuss with me?”

Lan Xin interrupted Mo Yan.

Yang Xiao had been standing next to Lan Xin the whole time, watching Mo Yan with a detached expression, but he knew that Mo Yan had a significant weak spot, and that was Lan Xin.

Mo Yan saw Yang Xiao standing very close to Lan Xin, a proximity that only intimate friends would maintain, and, therefore, he felt jealous.

You like feeling jealous? I’ll give you enough of it.

Suddenly, Yang Xiao said to Lan Xin:

”Lan Xin, the white jade hairpin on your head is a bit loose. Let me tighten it for you.”

Without waiting for Lan Xin’s approval, he reached with his right hand to remove the white jade hairpin from Lan Xin’s head, and with his left hand gently gathered her hair, placing the hairpin back on her head with his right hand.

Lan Xin’s face turned shyly red, but she did not resist, even feeling a sweetness inside. Of course, being extremely sharp, she understood the intention behind Yang Xiao’s actions, feeling somewhat triumphantly inside, thinking, so you care about others getting jealous too?

Mo Yan and Xue Mei were standing outside the Wind Snow Pavilion, stunned by Yang Xiao’s intimate gesture.

Xue Mei was merely surprised; knowing her senior sister for so many years, she had never seen Lan Xin show such a favorable expression to any other man.

But Mo Yan was different, his heart was already burning with jealousy, which fiercely surged at that moment.

In Mo Yan’s mind, Sister Lan Xin was more sacred than the Snow Lotus, how could he endure Yang Xiao defiling her?

Only he was qualified to have her! This was an acknowledged fact throughout the entire Shenming Mountain Sect.

But what could Mo Yan do? Could he rush up and beat Yang Xiao?

Lan Xin hadn’t refused; it seemed she even enjoyed it, showing a sweet expression.

Fortunately, Yang Xiao’s actions were brief, lasting only about ten seconds, then he turned his head and looked at Mo Yan with a victorious smile.

Mo Yan forcibly suppressed the anger in his heart, and said solemnly:

”Sister Lan Xin, our Shenming Mountain Sect’s competition between the North and South Gardens is coming tomorrow, are you prepared?”

Lan Xin nodded, replying:

”Nothing special, it’s the same as always.”

”Hehe, Sister, it seems you are still living in the past, now it’s the apocalypse.”

”What about the apocalypse?”

”Sister, out of respect for being fellow sect members, I have not pressured you, but the situation is more powerful than us. Both North and South Gardens of our sect have suffered heavy losses in this apocalypse. If we do not join forces and merge, how can we establish ourselves in Jianghu in the future? I heard that Xie Lei from Kongtong Sect has already been uniting many sects, discussing the establishment of the Martial Arts Alliance.”

”So what? Our Shenming Mountain Sect has always remained uninvolved, solitary, and indifferent. We don’t care for this Martial Arts Alliance Hierarch position, let whoever wants it have it.”

Lan Xin indeed spoke the truth; the Shenming Mountain Sect had always been low-key, secluded in Divine Mountain practicing Ancient Martial Arts, aiming not for conquest but to strengthen physique, nurture character, and pursue a transcendent Martial Arts life divorced from the secular world.
