Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

”So, you’re Lin Dong? Now that you’re here, let’s get started,” the referee declared, his eyes flickering with interest as he appraised Lin Dong’s powerful presence. He was surprised that the branch family could produce such talent alongside Lin Qing Tan, another standout from the Yan City branch.

Lin Dong nodded respectfully to the referee before sizing up his opponent, Lin Mu.

”Lin Dong… you’re Qing Tan’s brother, aren’t you?” Lin Mu asked, squinting as he scanned Lin Dong from head to toe.

”Qing Tan’s that well-known here?” Lin Dong was caught off guard, a trace of amazement crossing his face. He hadn’t expected to be introduced in the prestigious family gathering as ”Qing Tan’s brother.”

”A year ago, I sparred with Qing Tan. Though I narrowly won, it cost me greatly,” Lin Mu remarked. ”Now I’m eager to see what her brother is made of.” With that, he launched himself forward, his energy coalescing into a fierce blow aimed squarely at Lin Dong’s most vital points.

But Lin Dong stood motionless, grounded and steady as a rock. With effortless grace, he parried each of Lin Mu’s forceful strikes, barely allowing his opponent’s fists to approach within half a foot of his body.

”Smack! Smack! Smack!”

The sounds of fists and palms meeting flesh echoed throughout the arena, though Lin Dong remained unshaken, his stance unwavering. Those observing the clash closely felt a growing sense of tension as Lin Mu’s relentless attack continued without breaking Lin Dong’s solid defense.

It was becoming clear to everyone: Lin Dong was no ordinary challenger. His calm, defensive stance was like an iron wall that Lin Mu’s strikes couldn’t breach.

Across the arena, all eyes were glued to the action, and the audience held their breath, captivated by the intense exchange. In a more secluded section, Lin Zhentian and his family watched with anxious eyes. In the far smaller Tian Du region, fighters like Lin Mu—who’d achieved Half-Step Creation—were virtually unbeatable. They could only hope Lin Dong could match his strength.

”This Lin Dong… he does seem to have some skill.”

Among the clan’s young elites, many were astonished. They had assumed that Lin Dong, coming from the branch family, would be outmatched by Lin Mu. However, seeing Lin Dong now, they realized his true strength was difficult to gauge.

”Shattered Demon Tablet Palm!”

Lin Mu’s powerful energy erupted from within him, forming a colossal demonic stone tablet, nearly a hundred feet across, hovering ominously overhead. It exuded an overwhelming aura of pressure that seemed to weigh down on everyone watching.

”Lin Dong, if you can take this move, then the victory is yours!” Lin Mu roared as he sent the massive demonic tablet careening down toward Lin Dong, its crushing force creating a palpable tension in the air.

Yet, to everyone’s surprise, Lin Dong merely extended his hand and, with a simple wave, caused the intimidating tablet to disintegrate into thin air.

Stunned, Lin Mu’s expression changed as he realized the gap between them was wider than he’d thought. He hesitated, then gave a resigned nod, acknowledging the reality of Lin Dong’s power. ”I concede,” he said, his voice low.

In his heart, Lin Mu understood that Lin Dong was far stronger than he appeared. In the current Lin family, only a prodigious talent like Lin Langtian could push Lin Dong to his limits.

”Lin Dong, you’re impressive. I’ve heard you have some friction with Brother Langtian. I wonder, though, just how much of his strength you’d be able to draw out,” Lin Mu commented with a faint, cryptic smile. Without waiting for Lin Dong to reply, he leapt down from the platform.

Lin Dong, stunned for a moment, steadied himself and took a deep breath, then turned his gaze toward the golden seats at the far end of the arena.

The crowd fell silent as they processed Lin Mu’s surrender. Lin Mu was one of the Lin family’s top three talents, a Half-Step Creation powerhouse. For him to lose so decisively to someone from the branch family was almost unimaginable.

In the stands, Lin Zhentian and Lin Xiao watched, wide-eyed, as this moment unfolded. The level of strength Lin Dong had attained in just two years was beyond their wildest hopes.

”Ha! Dong’er did it!” Lin Zhentian’s laugh boomed as the family cheered around him. Tears of pride welled up as he took in the scene. For so long, he’d dreamed of this day, though he’d almost given up hope after Lin Xiao’s earlier struggles.

A short distance away, Lin Xiao patted his father’s shoulder, knowing all too well the years of yearning and sacrifice leading up to this moment.

The other young talents in the clan also felt the weight of Lin Dong’s victory. The only one left in the Lin family who could stand against him was Lin Langtian himself.

Standing tall and calm in the center of the massive arena, Lin Dong let the crowd’s intense gaze settle on him. Then, he slowly lifted his gaze to the golden seats, locking eyes with the figure who hadn’t moved an inch since the match began. Raising his hand in a respectful gesture, he called out, his voice ringing through the arena:

”Lord Langtian, I request a duel!”
