Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

As Wang Lei staggered back after being defeated with a single blow, the hall fell into complete silence. Everyone was shocked at what they had just witnessed. Only someone like Mo Jingtian, who had survived a Nirvana Tribulation, should have been able to accomplish such a feat. Yet here was Lin Langtian, not even fully in the Nirvana Stage, pulling it off. Could he really be this fearsome?

”You wretched brat! How dare you ambush me!” Wang Lei managed to steady himself, his face twisted in a deep scowl as he glared at Lin Langtian. Though he had been forced back, Wang Lei wasn’t willing to admit defeat. He chalked up his failure to carelessness, nothing more.

Without another word, he lunged forward again, but this time, a figure blocked his path.

”Wang Lei, are you really intent on disgracing your Wang Clan here? Being humiliated after losing in the selection trials and then throwing a tantrum—this hasn’t happened in years.” Lin Fan stepped in, his gaze cold and unforgiving as he reprimanded Wang Lei.

As Wang Lei saw Lin Fan standing in his way, he knew that his intention of killing Lin Langtian and Lin Dong was no longer feasible. With no other choice, he took a deep breath, recognizing that he had overreacted. Wang Zhong’s defeat to Lin Dong had been a massive blow, and Lin Langtian’s unexpected power only added to the insult, clouding his judgment.

At that moment, the other faction leaders on the platform came to their senses. Mo Jingtian, his brow furrowed, descended with the others to confront Wang Lei, his tone severe.

”Clan Leader Wang, the rules of the selection trials were set by all the major factions of the Great Flame Dynasty. Your behavior today has been nothing short of foolish. According to the rules, your Wang Clan’s eligibility to participate in the next selection trial could be revoked at any time.”

Wang Lei’s expression shifted; his clan’s loss this year was bad enough. If they were banned from the next selection, it would be disastrous. They would lose influence and power—a fatal blow to the Wang Clan.

”Your Majesty, please, you misunderstand. Lin Langtian ambushed me, leading to an unfortunate misunderstanding.”

”Misunderstanding? Ambush? Wang Lei, how can you even say that? It’s clear you were about to strike Lin Dong, and Langtian simply stepped in to stop you. Who could have guessed that you were so weak that a single blow from him would be too much? If word of this spread, your Wang Clan would lose face beyond repair.” Lin Fan sneered, his tone full of scorn.

The other leaders shook their heads in disapproval as well. Wang Lei had acted beneath his status, and, as the head of the Wang Clan, he had lost to Lin Langtian. His reputation was bound to plummet in the Great Flame Dynasty.

Wang Lei’s face flushed red and white in turns. With a bitter glare at Lin Langtian and Lin Dong, he turned and stormed off, hauling the unconscious Wang Zhong with him and throwing him to the pale-faced Wang Yan.

”A pity…” Lin Langtian murmured, shaking his head slightly. Inwardly, he regretted that Wang Lei had backed down; he had hoped to settle the score for good.

”Langtian, Lin Dong, are you both unharmed?” Lin Fan asked, concern evident in his voice as he looked at the two.

”I’m fine.” Lin Dong replied with a smile and then turned to Lin Langtian, nodding gratefully. ”Thank you, Brother Langtian, for stepping in.”

”There’s no need for thanks. Wang Lei overstepped his bounds attacking you, and he’s insulted our clan too many times. It was about time he learned a lesson.” Lin Langtian responded calmly.

Lin Dong was momentarily surprised before giving Langtian a thumbs-up. Wang Lei might have been a significant figure in the Great Flame Dynasty, yet Langtian dismissed him as if he were insignificant. Such confidence was awe-inspiring.

”All right, everyone, the results of this selection trial are final,” Mo Jingtian announced, turning his gaze back to the crowd. His eyes lingered on Lin Langtian for a moment, an unusual gleam in his eye. This young man, capable of defeating Wang Lei despite only being a half-step into the Nirvana Stage, was terrifyingly powerful. Even Mo Jingtian wondered if he could confidently win against him.

Mo Jingtian then looked away from Langtian and at the five finalists—Lin Langtian, Lin Dong, Mo Ling, Du Yun from Tianluo Sect, and Man Shan from Barbarian King Sect.

”Tomorrow, we will open the Sacred Spirit Pool. The five of you will be granted access. This is the last aid the Great Flame Dynasty can offer you. What benefits you gain will depend on your own luck. I hope each of you will bring honor to our dynasty in the legendary Hundred Dynasties Battle!”

As he mentioned the Hundred Dynasties Battle, Mo Jingtian’s normally calm eyes blazed with anticipation. To stand out in that epic contest would bring fame to the Great Flame Dynasty across the Eastern Xuan Region.

With Mo Jingtian’s announcement, the selection trial officially concluded, and Lin Langtian and the others returned to their quarters.

When Lin Langtian arrived back at his residence, he was greeted by a shriek as the golden crow, who had been waiting all day, leapt toward him eagerly. The familiar presence brought a smile to Langtian’s face as he played with the golden crow for a while. Finally, he lay down on his bed, muttering to himself.

”The Hundred Dynasties Battle is finally here. But before I search for the inheritance of the Elder Demonic One and the Ice Fiend’s Pill, I need to reach the Nirvana Stage first.”

As he murmured, his spirit guardian, Ling Yi, materialized, nodding in agreement. ”You’re right. No matter what, your strength will always be the foundation. Breaking through to the Nirvana Stage should be your top priority now.”

Langtian nodded; he knew that if he didn’t achieve Nirvana quickly, he would struggle to compete with the powerful super dynasties in the ancient battlefield.

”Breaking through is essential, but I also have another way to help you,” Ling Yi said, smiling.

”Oh? What kind of help?” Langtian asked, perking up with curiosity.

”Fusion of Yuan Power,” she replied simply.
