Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

”Who would have thought that the renowned prodigy of the Huangpu Clan, Huangpu Ying, would hide behind a pillar like a rat?” Lin Langtian’s lips curled in disdain as he saw his opponent. Although their grievances from years ago were nearly forgotten, now that fate had brought them together again, he was intent on settling the score for Huangpu Ying’s past schemes.

Huangpu Ying’s face turned ashen, filled with bitter frustration. He hadn’t expected such misfortune—running into the most formidable ”boss” of the selection, Lin Langtian. Outside the hall, many clan leaders and spectators shifted their attention to this sudden face-off.

”Is that... Lin Langtian and Huangpu Ying of the Huangpu Clan?”

”Hah! Looks like the prodigies of these two great clans have crossed paths. Huangpu Ying is out of luck.”

”That’s right. Huangpu Ying might have once taken down a Great Creation level fighter, but against Lin Langtian, he’s still outclassed.”

As murmurs filled the spectator stands, a touch of schadenfreude could be heard. Not far away, Huangpu Jing’s face had turned pale as she gazed at the scene unfolding on the screen. She hadn’t expected Huangpu Ying to face Lin Langtian in the very first round.

”Ah... fate truly has its way. It seems our Huangpu Clan is destined to miss the Hundred Empire War this time,” sighed a dignified middle-aged man standing beside her. He was none other than the clan head, Huangpu Long. Observing the two figures on the screen, his brows knitted tightly. Even he could feel the weight of Lin Langtian’s power. As for Huangpu Ying, still at the early Creation stage, the gap was insurmountable.

Inside the great hall, an oppressive silence filled the air. Huangpu Ying’s face had turned ghostly pale, barely concealing his despair—he held no hope of victory.

”Are you going to surrender, or do you want me to send you out myself?” Lin Langtian asked, his hands clasped calmly behind his back. His indifferent tone only fueled the resentment in Huangpu Ying’s eyes, making his veins pulse with fury. Although he feared Lin Langtian’s strength, he felt humiliated and enraged by such utter disregard.

”Lin Langtian! Don’t think so little of me!” Huangpu Ying’s face contorted with rage. His hands quickly moved in complex seals, and suddenly the shadows of several large stone pillars on the ground began to shift and writhe. Biting his tongue, he spat out blood, which split into droplets that seeped into the shadows. Instantly, the shadows twisted and expanded, transforming into huge shadow beasts that thundered toward Lin Langtian.

”A cheap parlor trick,” Lin Langtian sneered as he saw Huangpu Ying wielding his shadow manipulation with spiritual power. With a flick of his wrist, a wave of immense pressure pulsed forth, an invisible force that compressed and shattered each shadow beast like a fragile bubble.

”Bang! Bang! Bang!”

One by one, the shadow beasts burst like fireworks, dissipating into wisps of nothingness. Huangpu Ying’s face twisted in horror as his last hope crumbled. Terror swelled within him, urging him to flee. However, before he could take a single step, a shadow moved like a puff of smoke and closed in on him.

”Boom!”

A powerful fist, surging with dominating force, tore through Huangpu Ying’s defenses, smashing into his chest with brutal precision.

”Ugh!”

Blood sprayed from Huangpu Ying’s mouth as he was launched back like a cannonball, crashing into a massive stone pillar that shattered under the impact. He slumped down, unconscious.

”Pathetic.”

Lin Langtian’s calm form appeared in the dust as he gazed coldly at Huangpu Ying’s limp figure. Had Huangpu Ying surrendered, Lin Langtian might have spared him, out of respect for Huangpu Jing and the Huangpu Clan’s leader. But since Huangpu Ying chose to resist, he had no qualms about his brutal counterattack.

”Haha, congratulations, Clan Leader Lin Fan! Lin Langtian is truly remarkable, able to defeat even a Huangpu Clan prodigy in a single strike! Truly, he lives up to his name,” praised one of the clan heads from the high platform outside the hall.

”Isn’t Lin Dong from your Lin Clan too? He also passed the second round. It looks like your clan has a real chance at securing two spots this year!”

The clan leaders stared at the screen, stunned by the rapid outcome of the match. Soon, they all turned to Lin Fan, congratulating him with admiration and envy. Luck had certainly shone on the Lin Clan with the appearance of Lin Langtian. Initially, some of them doubted Lin Langtian’s reputation, but seeing him dispatch Huangpu Ying—a fighter capable of besting a Great Creation stage opponent—they had no doubt that only a half-step Nirvana practitioner could wield such fearsome power.

Lin Fan, smiling as he thanked each of them, radiated quiet pride. Things were indeed going well for the Lin Clan: Lin Langtian, their unstoppable force, would surely crush anyone in his path, while Lin Dong had successfully moved past the second round. It seemed they truly had a shot at two coveted spots.

Time passed in silence as Lin Langtian strode calmly down the long corridor. His footsteps echoed softly as he neared the end, where a majestic violet-gold door awaited. Beyond it lay the final stage, where the first seed slot would be awarded.

Facing the great door, Lin Langtian’s expression remained calm. Since defeating Huangpu Ying, he had encountered two more challengers, one of whom was from one of the top sects in the Great Yan Empire. Against Langtian, however, one surrendered immediately, while the other met a swift defeat. Both the outcome and Lin Langtian’s advance felt inevitable to him and to the spectators alike.

”Creak!”

Under the watchful eyes of everyone outside, the door finally began to swing open. Emerging from behind the grand door was a tall, composed figure in a blue robe. The first coveted spot of the selection went, unsurprisingly, to Lin Langtian.
