Wu dong Qian Kun: I, Lin Langtian, Refuse to be a Supporting Character

”Greetings, Clan Leader!” Langtian said, bowing respectfully to the middle-aged man in green robes who had suddenly appeared before him.

Around them, many elders quickly rose into the air to join, all stopping in front of the Clan Leader with expressions of respect.

”Even the Clan Leader Lin Fan himself was drawn out...” Observers in the coliseum, many familiar with the head of the Lin Clan, expressed their astonishment. After all, Lin Fan rarely appeared in public. But with two extraordinary talents like Langtian and Lin Dong emerging, his presence wasn’t surprising.

”Langtian, I didn’t expect you to advance to the half-step Nirvana stage so soon. You truly are the rare prodigy our Lin Clan has waited centuries for,” Lin Fan said, his gaze locked on Langtian with a look of admiration.

Had it not been for the impressive energy radiating from Langtian, Lin Fan would not have broken from his seclusion. He could even sense that, despite being Clan Leader, Langtian might now rival his own power. Lin Fan’s astonishment grew; though he’d always known Langtian would achieve greatness, he hadn’t anticipated such rapid growth.

”Clan Leader, you flatter me. It was just a stroke of luck,” Langtian responded calmly.

Lin Fan stroked his beard approvingly, pleased to see Langtian’s humility and steadiness. ”And yet, Langtian is not the only surprise of this clan meeting.”

Lin Fan’s voice softened as he turned his gaze toward Lin Dong, an undisguised smile spreading across his usually solemn face. ”Young one, you must be Lin Dong, Qing Tan’s elder brother. Langtian has often praised you both to me, and today, I see that his praise was not misplaced.”

”Greetings, Clan Leader,” Lin Dong replied, respectfully clasping his hands in salute.

”Ah, true talents arise with every new generation. It’s remarkable that such talent would appear in our extended family,” Lin Fan remarked with a pleased smile, his gaze assessing Lin Dong. Though Langtian’s progress was incredible, he had benefited from years of the Lin Clan’s resources. In contrast, as a branch family member, Lin Dong hadn’t received the same advantages and was younger. It hinted that Lin Dong’s innate talent might be as formidable as Langtian’s.

Even Lin Fan couldn’t help but marvel. It was already an incredible blessing for a clan to have one prodigious talent like Langtian. But to have two?

From a Clan Leader’s perspective, this was a true blessing. Lin Dong might be from a branch family, but he was still a Lin. Though not as close to him as Langtian, he belonged to the Lin Clan all the same.

”Clan Leader, shall we announce this year’s champion?” Lin Zhi suggested from nearby.

With the battle between Langtian and Lin Dong concluded, the peak of the clan tournament had passed, and all that remained was to crown the champion. Naturally, everyone knew the title would go to Langtian. With his half-step Nirvana stage strength, he was unmatched by all but the oldest of elders.

Lin Fan nodded and addressed the massive coliseum. ”Thank you, everyone, for honoring us with your presence. After much fierce competition, the champion of this clan tournament has emerged!”

The coliseum fell silent as countless eyes turned toward Lin Fan, with some even rising to their feet in anticipation.

”Champion—Langtian!”

The Clan Leader’s proclamation echoed, and for a heartbeat, silence reigned. Then, the entire coliseum erupted into cheers like thunder. Langtian, the most gifted talent in the Lin Clan’s history, was champion—a well-deserved title. Applause thundered through the arena as even those watching from afar nodded in admiration at the display of Langtian’s skill and power.

Many spectators couldn’t help but feel a touch of envy toward the Lin Clan, whose strength now boasted two such promising young warriors. Some couldn’t help but feel sympathy for Lin Dong as well. After all, he was younger and from the branch family. With more time to grow, his potential might rival Langtian’s.

But such speculation was moot. At present, Langtian’s half-step Nirvana strength commanded all the respect of the coliseum. Even Lin Dong had no objections and came forward to offer his congratulations.

”Langtian, with your strength, this championship title is undoubtedly yours,” Lin Fan said with a smile.

”Thank you, Clan Leader.” Langtian nodded, though the title itself didn’t matter much to him. His reputation and strength were already widely recognized. If it wouldn’t have seemed dismissive, he would have happily let Lin Dong claim it.

”Clan Leader, I’m honored to receive the champion title. However, Lin Dong performed outstandingly. How about awarding the champion’s prize to him instead?” Langtian suggested with a small smile.

”Ah, so you want to transfer the champion’s prize to Lin Dong?” Lin Fan asked, slightly surprised.

”Champion’s prize?” Lin Dong echoed, clearly curious.

Langtian chuckled. ”Lin Dong, don’t think the champion title is just a name. By tradition, the champion is granted access to the Lin Clan’s treasury to choose one item. I’ve already had my turn there, so I’d like to pass this chance on to you.”

After his breakthrough, the treasury held little allure for Langtian. He’d rather use the opportunity to foster goodwill. And sure enough, Lin Dong’s eyes lit up at the mention of the clan treasury, his face breaking into a wide smile as he bowed in gratitude.

”Thank you, Brother Langtian!”
