Demon King: Hero, don’t run away!

While dodging Vashak’s rays, Bai Jin flew in circles around him, trying to catch the Magic Fluctuations of Vashak’s Shield Magic, to see exactly what kind of Shield Magic he was using, and thereby look for a way to break it.

However, the Magic Fluctuations emanating from Vashak’s Shield Magic could only be described as bizarre, completely outside the scope of Bai Jin’s knowledge.

Silently reciting the characteristics of the Magic Fluctuations in his mind, Bai Jin once again established contact with the Magic Wand Sigh Seed, trying to find a corresponding solution based on those Fluctuations.

The Magic Wand Sigh Seed did, indeed, possess knowledge in this area, it was just that...

The entries were far more numerous than he’d imagined.

No matter which entry it was, in the end they all pointed toward an Ancient Special counter-type Magic Shield.

This kind of Magic Shield would react differently whenever it was subjected to an Attack.

After Special encryption, this type of Magic Shield could endure more damage than an ordinary Shield, and wouldn’t be broken by Shield Type Skills that shattered normal Shields.

To destroy the Shield, either you pushed this Magic Shield’s damage intake to its limit, or you crafted a key for this Magic and opened it.

To craft the key, he had to determine exactly which Shield Magic Vashak was currently using.

And to identify what specific Shield Magic this was, Bai Jin needed to get closer and capture more, and more precise, Magic Fluctuations.

Bai Jin could also extract all the options and test them one by one.

That way, Bai Jin wouldn’t have to draw too close and risk being caught off guard by Vashak.

For an ordinary Magician, distance was the lifeline.

But right now, every second counted; Bai Jin couldn’t possibly test Magic one by one.

Bai Jin made a split-second decision and chose to close in, rushing straight toward Vashak through a barrage of rays.

The closer he got, the more accurate the information contained in the Magic Fluctuations became.

When he was only about five or six meters from the emerald-green Shield, Bai Jin finally fully understood what kind of Magic he had to use to dismantle Vashak’s Shield.

Chanting Magic under his breath, Bai Jin stopped advancing and instead pulled back.

Before Bai Jin could widen the distance, an abrupt change occurred.

The emerald-green Shield encasing Vashak began to shed hexagonal plates, which slowly detached and tore apart into fragments in midair.

Vashak raised a smile; with his eyes closed, he seemed as if he had long since known everything.

The key to open his Magic Shield required quite some time to manufacture.

The moment Bai Jin was preparing Magic was the optimal time to launch an Attack.

Even though taking action would make the time he needed to analyze each person longer, when the meat is already at your lips, how could you not eat it?

Even if his body was split in two, even if his strength was greatly diminished, Vashak still had Skills that could make his enemies suffer.

”[Ultimate Illusion]!

I can see the past and the future.

Obey me!

As long as you obey me, even if I cannot change your past, I can change your future!”

Massive purple clouds spewed from Vashak’s back, spreading across the sky like a pool of purple ink splashed onto a silver-white mirror.

Within the purple, one eye after another opened, fixing their gaze firmly on Bai Jin!

Bai Jin instantly became unable to move in midair.

”Obey me!

If you want to change your future, offer up the one you love most, and toward that direction...

Mm...

As expected, with my strength greatly diminished, there really is that little bit that just doesn’t cut it.

At most I can Control you for a few minutes.

Will a few minutes be enough?

A few minutes is enough!

I’ve changed my mind.

Since no one is coming to interfere!

Then offer up all of your companions as Sacrifices!

Super Large Magic!”

Vashak raised his arm toward the sky, and Bai Jin, unable to help himself, followed his movements, lifting his Magic Wand high over his head to point at the heavens.

Bai Jin began chanting Magic.

A massive Magic Array rapidly unfolded in the sky, and the Magic Power drifting nearby was sucked into the vast Array, becoming part of the Super Large Magic.

”This Speed isn’t enough.

[Magic Release Acceleration]!”

Vashak pointed in Bai Jin’s direction, and the Magic Power in his body surged out, like flying claws latching onto the ever-expanding Super Large Magic in the sky.

A Super Large Magic that would ordinarily take several minutes to complete finished in the blink of an eye over Bai Jin’s head.

”Come now, listen to me!

Release the Super Large Magic in that direction!

Blow all of your beloved companions into dust!”

Vashak extended his hand toward Gao Yuanyi and the others who were entangled in battle with Agares.

The Magic Array above Bai Jin’s head emitted a cold white light.

Vashak had originally intended to Control Bai Jin to fight Yang Yu, but considering that Bai Jin’s Energy Level was too high and the time he could Control him would be short, while Yang Yu’s combat prowess was extraordinary, Vashak ultimately had to give up on that idea.

Out of misfortune came fortune; Vashak found an even better target.

Even without eyes, Vashak could still take in every battlefield at a glance, so naturally he had noticed Agares’s dire situation.

Under the unreasonable gang beating from Lotcar, Gao Yuanyi, Qiuye, Li Yan, and Tico, Agares was trapped inside the [Disrupting Hurricane], unable to break free and left to be slaughtered like a mermaid on the chopping block.

Bar and Yang Yu were locked in a deadlocked fight; you strike, I counter, each taking turns on the stage, leaving him no room to spare a hand to move Agares to a relatively safe area.

Agares was the Demon ensuring their safety; judging from what had happened earlier, Yang Yu and the others were not entirely ignorant about Demons, and later on they might very well pull out some tools specifically designed to target them.

Though Bar was extremely powerful, by himself he couldn’t just casually carve a path of blood through such heavy encirclement.

Vashak knew Bar’s plan.

Compared to dying and being reborn on Bar’s body, Vashak much preferred to come to this world through formal channels.

After all, dying too many times meant there was a certain probability that their precious memories would be lost.

Back when they worked under Humans, they could use those devices to replenish lost memories... but after deciding to betray them, that method vanished without a trace.

If what disappeared were memories from their time in the Abyss, that would be fine.

But if...

This was one of the reasons why the vast majority of Demons wanted to come to this world in their original, unaltered form.

Only because he clearly knew Agares was outside did Vashak dare slip through that gap.

If Bar could slaughter everyone here to the last man, there’d be nothing to worry about. If he couldn’t, then Agares’s safety had to be the top priority.

That was why Vashak changed his mind at the last moment.

As for ordering Bai Jin to unleash a barrage of firepower in Agares’s direction, there was another reason... If he could watch this Magician sob in anguish because he’d killed his own companions for Vashak’s sake, that would truly be the finest, most entertaining spectacle in the world.

Vashak’s respect was reserved only for Bar; Vashak was the one who could be called the most authentically demonic among Demons.

He had learned the essence of being a Demon from Human books.

However...

With such a conspicuous ability, how could Yang Yu and the others possibly have overlooked it while going through the data?
