The Unveiling of Secret Queen

Chapter 1861: Chapter 1861: This Year’s Kingsleys Family Candidate for the Assessment

Meanwhile, on the first floor of the Intercontinental Hotel, Willy Kingsley was also nearby on business.

Originally, he was being escorted by a group of people, but as he brushed past a girl engrossed in her phone, Willy’s steps involuntarily came to a halt.

”Mr. Kingsley, what’s wrong?”

As soon as Willy stopped, those accompanying him also halted, cautiously following his gaze but only saw the bustling opulence of the hotel lobby without figuring out any reason, so they bowed and inquired.

Willy did not answer immediately; instead, he frowned, his sharp eyes fixated intensely on the direction of the elevator.

The elevator doors were just closing.

He didn’t have time to see clearly if the person who had just walked by was someone he knew.

”Mr. Kingsley, did you see someone familiar?” His subordinate beside him, noticing Willy’s lingering gaze toward the elevator, asked skeptically, ”Should we follow?”

Willy withdrew his line of sight: ”No need, I just thought that person looked a bit familiar. But it’s impossible for that person to appear here. I must have been mistaken.”

”...” Willy’s companions appeared puzzled, glancing again toward the elevator, but it was already ascending, and nothing could be seen.

They also didn’t know whom Willy was referring to.

Willy’s expression returned to its usual calmness, and he took the lead: ”Let’s go, Dr. Rabenstein is still waiting for us.”

He walked ahead.

Those by his side promptly followed.

...

On the first floor of the Intercontinental Hotel, there is a serene tea restaurant. Its elegant environment and private rooms make it an ideal place for discussions.

When Willy arrived at the tea restaurant, someone immediately came over to lead the way.

He was guided to a private room outside, knocked, and entered.

”Mr. Kingsley, you’ve arrived.”

”Mr. Kingsley.”

”Uncle.”

Inside the private room, several people were already present. As Willy entered, they paused their conversations to greet him.

Willy, abandoning his usual stern demeanor, smiled warmly and quickly stepped forward to shake hands with a middle-aged man: ”Dr. Rabenstein, it’s been a long time, a long time.”

The man referred to as Dr. Rabenstein was in his early fifties, with unremarkable looks save for a mostly bald head. Thick glasses sat on his nose, and he wore a white coat buttoned up to the collar, projecting a modest, even petty, aura.

He extended his hand for a handshake, not overly flattering, but clearly respectful towards Willy: ”Mr. Kingsley, long time no see. I heard Ms. Kingsley mention you at the research institute a few days ago. Mr. Kingsley is as distinguished as ever.”

”Dr. Rabenstein, you’re too kind.” Willy chuckled, releasing his hand, gesturing: ”Please, sit down.”

He took off his suit jacket, draped it over a nearby chair, pulled out a seat, and sat down. Then he looked straight at the doctor seated a distance away and got straight to the point: ”Dr. Rabenstein, you’re with The First Research Institute. With the triennial assessment approaching, do you think our candidate this year has any chance of joining the institute?”

The Kingsleys Family’s candidate this year, like Zevaney, is also from the collateral branch, named Therry Kingsley.

This Therry Kingsley is Willy’s direct nephew.

If his nephew successfully enters The First Research Institute, it would be a great support for Willy as well.

Willy was naturally determined to support Therry Kingsley in joining The First Research Institute without reservation.

Of course, The First Research Institute was not a place he could influence at will.

The prerequisite was that Therry Kingsley had to prove his worth.
