Seizing the BOSS Template at the Start

Chapter 319: Chapter 181: Saint 2: Netherworld (Part 2)

The data stream flickered across Moon Side’s monocle, and he responded with a smile: ”Because of human desires and emotions. Without a body, one loses desire. An alchemist without desire will see a decrease in creativity, and absolute rationality will erase both the bad and good sides of humans, leading to disaster.”

Moon Side confidently stated: ”But I can completely set goals for myself to substitute my desires. As long as I firmly have one or even multiple goals, I will achieve these goals with the most rational attitude. I believe the disaster won’t be mine to trigger.”

”It seems you understand it quite well...” Baiyi said with some headache: ”But have you considered that you can think from a different perspective?”

”Just like artificial intelligence.” Baiyi raised his hand, and a projection of a rhombus-shaped crystal appeared. It was his contact lens, known as Zero.

”Artificial intelligence absorbs knowledge from the internet and grows, evolving alongside the alchemist. The AI I created hasn’t even been around for a year, yet it already possesses very sophisticated intelligence, with a knowledge reserve far exceeding mine. If I were to give it a body now.”

”How would that differ from the final form you envision?”

”Desire is the core of creativity, and the way you mentioned of autonomously creating desires is not unheard of. Perhaps you could do some research.”

”That group is called: Mechanical Divine Teaching.” Baiyi advised: ”There’s even another group, whose ideas are completely opposite to yours, called the Flesh and Blood Divine Teaching, worshiping a powerful divine abomination known as the God of Flesh and Blood.”

”And they all disappeared in Xia, many of whom had top-tier potential. This path is a difficult one...”

In the history of Xia, there are three such extremist organizations in total, but in the end, most of them were killed, and the remaining troublesome ones were sealed at the Bottom of the Abyss in the Dark World.

Any extreme modification is likely to plunge humans into chaos, ultimately bringing disaster to the world.

Moon Side remained calm: ”Lord City Lord, I still want to try.”

The projection in his eyes grew brighter as the mechanical body gradually disassembled, revealing its core.

Moon Side pointed and said: ”If Lord City Lord doesn’t trust the coding of the underlying logic, I will implant something irreplaceable in both the core reactor of my body and my brain, replacing this with explosives.”

He looked at Baiyi, smiling: ”The remote control can be entrusted to you, Lord Baiyi.”

Baiyi remained silent for a moment, then waved his hand with some helplessness: ”You still don’t understand, do as you wish. The so-called explosives aren’t necessary, but you can preserve your current thoughts and flesh, handing it over to the Military Equipment Bureau for sealing. Maybe in the future, I can revive you.”

Moon Side watched Baiyi’s departing figure in silence, an inexplicable emotion flashing in his eyes, soon replaced by the mechanical.

He turned around, continued helping to install the exoskeleton mechanism, and studied the various structures of it.

Baiyi walked out of the Modified Legion, treading forward silently. What a pity for such a promising seedling....

Using goals to compensate for creativity is indeed possible, because his brain is still his.

But when someone is purely rational, the situation that arises may be beyond what Moon Side can control now.

Anything beyond one’s goals would be deemed an obstacle by absolute rationality, including all sorts of ties such as family and friendship, rendered meaningless under such rationality.

Those who once shouted ”Flesh is weak, Mechanical Ascension” are still struggling to survive in the Dark World at the Bottom of the Abyss.

How grand were their goals? To transform all the flesh and blood beings in the All Heavens and Myriad Realms into machines....

As for Baiyi not wanting Moon Side to manufacture those bombs, it’s because there’s no need.

He’s already at Level 58, while Moon Side is only in the twenties. If he could surpass him, how could he still be called a boss?

Moreover, if he really grows to a level that poses a threat to Baiyi, wouldn’t it be a pity to blow him up?

When the time comes, extracting his soul and allowing AI to inhabit it will suffice. That way, they could still acquire a top-tier mechanical body for free.

If they wish, they could even cleanse his soul and then infuse it with his current thoughts and preserved flesh, possibly reviving him?

While pondering, Baiyi noticed a colossal figure approaching the modification room with a cold expression.

”Garrett.” Baiyi called out, halting the over four-meter-tall giant.

Garrett turned around, showing some respect as he saluted Baiyi: ”Lord City Lord.”

”In some time, you’ll undergo a new modification, and at the Battle Merit Exchange System, I’ve arranged for you to have access once. There’s an axe there well suited for you, consider it a reward for your previous golden hunt.” Baiyi said with a smile.

Garrett was stupefied, his ferocious face didn’t show excitement, only respectfully saluting once more: ”Thank you, Lord City Lord.”

During Baiyi’s hunt in Sin City, Vice Corps Commander Magat, who was Garrett’s brother, died.

Baiyi proceeded forward, mentioning it was actually not meant as compensation, after all, compensation money had already been given, but Baiyi needed a more powerful legion commander.

Other legion commanders already hinted at breaking through to Gold, so the Modified Legion Commander couldn’t be too weak.

Baiyi arrived at the Mage Academy in the west.

Originally, half a month ago, he intended to come, but being engrossed in leveling, he was delayed by half a month.

He entered the headmaster’s office, where Heidinger smiled at him: ”It’s ready, here you go.”

He placed two potions and a Soul Lantern on the table, gazing at Baiyi with a bit of admiration.

Level 58, gaining two levels in a month, such growth rate, truly top-tier potential.

”Mr. Heidinger, I have a few more requests.” Baiyi spoke with some respect: ”I’ve noticed many no-fly arrays in the Capital City. Could the City Lord’s Mansion perhaps have one too?”

”Understood, it can be arranged within three days.” Heidinger nodded, not refusing.

Or rather, as long as Baiyi’s requests weren’t excessive, he wouldn’t refuse.

”Thank you, I won’t trouble you any longer.” Baiyi hung the Soul Lantern inside his coat, picked up the potions, slightly bowed to Heidinger, and turned to leave, reviewing the potion’s details.

Took a deep breath, almost everything that needed to be done was done. Now to modify the bone dragon, and once finished, he could finally relax....

Summoning the bone dragon to descend to the City Lord’s Mansion, Baiyi began upgrading the bone dragon.

This time, the upgrade focused solely on the propulsion system, which is to say, the bone dragon’s speed. Baiyi hadn’t found better replacements for other modifications, and pure weapon conversion could wait for later.

During the modification, the long-silent panel suddenly illuminated with a prompt.

[Saint 2: Netherworld.]

Baiyi’s actions didn’t halt as he continued crafting the core for the bone dragon’s thruster. When the panel’s prompt sounded once more, he exhaled deeply.

[You crafted a Spaceship Tail Thruster ×1, Experience Value +5000. Extra Experience Points +5000.]

Indeed, his premonition wasn’t wrong, the second phase of the extreme task had arrived, the Netherworld...

Isn’t that the Mysterious Town?

That town planning to lock onto him?

He reviewed the task, much like last time, it merely hinted at awaiting danger to be right before one’s eyes for the task to fully unfold.

However, it didn’t matter; perhaps the Tower of Soul was unlucky, or maybe the danger was drawn from the vicinity.

This dungeon, he knew... and was the one who released it.

Perhaps he could try taking down the boss there ahead of time?

Contemplating, Baiyi opened the Guard Brigade’s livestream, noticing that the town was now packed full of players.

Nearly all the monsters had been defeated within.

The screen was filled with players seeking the final clue, attempting to revive a Golden Upper Tier Netherworld boss and meeting annihilation.

Then they cursed the game company vehemently, leaving negative reviews for the game Dawn Ascension.

There was nothing they could do; Level 25 players barely managed to exhaust those elite monsters, tackling the boss was equally arduous.

After some thought, Baiyi directed the bone dragon to fly towards the Mysterious Town, while he made his way towards the Apocalypse Legion’s station.

Perhaps he could achieve an instant victory?
