Chapter 318: Chapter 181: Saint 2: Netherworld

Mysterious Town is completely different from Night Town; Night Town follows strange rules, but Mysterious Town is a purely disgusting dungeon.

Because as soon as someone enters, it becomes a large-scale escape room, integrating many horror elements.

The most important point is that this town is the remnant of Netherworld invasions.

Players are fine; at most, they just die inexplicably.

But NPCs are different. The most powerful aspect of ghosts is their invasiveness, and their possession level is extremely high and hard to detect.

When they overpower you, ghosts will mercilessly massacre the city, killing all creatures except the soul body type.

When there is enough power to kill them, they will parasitize, hiding inside a person’s soul.

After digesting that person’s fate, soul, and other things, the ghost will silently leave to find the next host.

What remains is a new species: Corpse Ghosts.

Corpse Ghosts are similar to zombies; they like to eat their original kind. For example, if an elf turns into a Corpse Ghost, it will only eat elves.

And they are contagious; blood, saliva, can turn more people into Corpse Ghosts.

The scariest part is that their intelligence has barely changed, just transforming from fellow beings into predators.

Those with strong willpower can control their bloodlust, but they will ultimately starve to death without food.

Baiyi watched the Mysterious Town, which was already overrun by many players in the live stream, and felt a bit sorry.

During the Divine Showcase, he deliberately left behind that extremely evil person to let this town emerge ahead of time, kill those guys, and gain some extremely rare resources.

But now, those resources are almost all plundered by players.

And Mysterious Town won’t last much longer; in two days, there might only be the last ghost boss left in the town...

Thinking about it, Baiyi didn’t care much; although he was prepared last time, his month-long seclusion made him miss some things, but he was somewhat relieved.

Out of the thirty thousand Modified Legion, only the last five hundred remain unchanged.

The firepower of Dongwu City’s legion greatly enhanced.

Eighteen thousand Extraordinary Legion, and the Modified Legion can average at the Golden Level during bursts.

This time, what test can the Tower of Soul still impose?

Stepping out of the laboratory, Baiyi saw Luoning, a bit taller now, building snowmen in the corner, making the backyard of the City Lord’s Mansion seem somewhat cute.

The snow in the sky had been falling for a month straight, and if Heidinger hadn’t occasionally cleared the snow clouds, it might have become disastrous this year.

However, it was quite fine as it was.

Baiyi glanced at Aileen, silently hiding behind a snowman.

Aileen had reached Level 34, her growth speed was quite good. The growth of a Curse Doctor is similar to the Healing System, involving continuous healing and honing of magic power.

However, the Curse Doctor’s healing comes with risks, such as a 50% mortality rate...

Without much interference, Baiyi headed over to the Modified Legion, brought them the last five hundred mechanical exoskeletons, and saw Yuefang, whom he hadn’t seen in a long time. His state was somewhat...off.

”Lord City Lord.”

As Baiyi approached, Yuefang adjusted his monocle and greeted respectfully.

Baiyi was slightly silent: ”Where are your hands?”

Yuefang’s arms were mechanical prosthetics at this time; both hands were mechanical prosthetics, and his level seemed to have directly reached Bronze Upper Tier, catching up to Luoning.

Actually, Baiyi didn’t oppose mechanical transformation, but he always believed that no matter what profession, the most important thing is oneself; unless necessary, transformations should be minimized unless one had specialties like Light and Dark.

Yuefang smiled, his eyes no longer carried the initial timidity but extreme confidence.

Yuefang smiled and said: ”Lord City Lord, your city is more prosperous than I imagined, but in my planning, the perfect form should be like this. Look...my idea is....”

Data flowed across his monocle, a projection appeared, showing a humanoid machine densely annotated with data for various parts, explaining upgrades from Bronze to Gold.

And Yuefang’s personal understanding.

Since Baiyi tasked him to reach Level 50 within two years, he wasn’t assigned much work.

Also, with some permissions opened by Sabo, he could freely purchase knowledge from the Knowledge Hall using Dongwu City Treasury’s account.

So, he spent a month determining his development direction and used this time to plan his future. A pair of arms was his starting point for transformation, just the beginning.

These permissions were quite common; SS-level was a very high potential, a potential that wouldn’t be concerned about resources no matter which power he pledged allegiance to, especially knowledge resources.

Dongwu City was no exception.

Listening to Yuefang’s explanation, Baiyi concluded with one sentence: Flesh is unstable, machinery is the future.

After thinking for a moment, Baiyi rejected it: ”Full mechanical transformation is not allowed.”

Yuefang was taken aback, slightly disappointed, and he asked: ”What if I add a base logic that prohibits destroying Dawn?”

Baiyi shook his head: ”Do you know why the Federation bans full mechanical transformation? Even though it could grant immortality to Alchemists.”
