Chapter 314: Chapter 179: The Arrival of the New Workshop Supervisor (Part 2)

The younger brother’s anxious voice began to show signs of fluctuation.

He looked out the castle window at the moonlight about to fall; without the stability of the God, the Undead Realm began to wander in the void once more.

It would devour the stars in the sky, and every time a star fell into the Undead Realm, it would be a revelry.

And this movement would break almost all positioning; he knew his time was running out.

”Brother... Brother... do you... remember the past? I... am... your... brother... ah...”

Or’s voice grew weaker and more intermittent. Ao Xi checked for a long time but could find no issues with the contract; that faint unease was suppressed.

He extended a dry, withered hand. Even after thousands of years, despite his twisted mind, he seemed unable to let go of that shred of kinship; he pressed down.

The contract was signed.

”Brother... come...”

Ao Xi’s words abruptly stopped. Before his eyes, the contract rapidly changed, a scarlet teleportation array appeared and instantly enveloped him.

This seemed not to be a binding contract, but a... summoning contract!

And... many layers!

-----------------

[You have acquired a third servant, Level 67 Lich, Ao Xi.]

Baiyi smiled and withdrew his hand, the power of the contract slightly dissipating.

He watched Or, holding the Dawn Badge imbued with his power, hastily depart.

Silently awaiting the new workshop supervisor’s arrival.

It’s late November, and at last, snowflakes began to fall from the sky, this snow arriving later than usual, but it was heavy from the start.

Large, fluff-like snowflakes covered Or’s retreating figure until it was no longer visible, and the aura of the undead began to gush forth, painting the area outside Dongwu City with the scent of the dead.

Tiny tremors appeared within the surrounding earth, as corpses submitted instinctively to the presence of a powerful undead creature.

At this moment, all that was needed was for this undead creature to bestow these corpses with souls and power, and then they would become familiar skeletal soldiers.

Those were the most common things in the Undead Realm.

Buzz~

The snowfall hadn’t yet started, and the snow clouds in the sky were stained black, threads of undead aura replaced the falling snowflakes.

An entity from another dimension, the hand it had raised still seemingly pressed down, slowly descended from the Undead Realm into Xia World.

Baiyi smiled and greeted, ”Hello, I am Baiyi. I’ll be entrusting you with future matters, and I suppose you no longer need to struggle?”

Ao Xi remained silent, looking at the world that had darkened with his arrival, feeling the wholly different world rules. He calmly asked in a hoarse voice, ”Has my foolish brother died?”

Baiyi sensed a faint threat, as if this lich was stronger than expected.

He smiled and said, ”No, I signed a contract with him a year ago, and now, he exchanged you for his freedom.”

Ao Xi was silent, the soul fire under his hood suddenly turned scarlet.

Dark Side, Malicious Intimidation.

[Your Charm Value has temporarily dropped to -17.]

Buzz~

Just as Ao Xi was about to erupt, he froze, looking at this presence that seemed unchanged but gave him an unparalleled sense of oppression, the recently lost rationality rapidly returned.

But another more resolute feeling emerged.

As a lich in pursuit of magical truth, he was not the kind to live ignobly, and if subjected to enslavement, then death wasn’t entirely unacceptable.

”Fifty years.” Baiyi opened a hand: ”In fifty years, I’ll grant you freedom. For now, your duty is to help me refine some alchemical materials. Of course, being a more powerful lich, I can offer you some freedom, provided you don’t botch the tasks I assign, how about that?”

Ao Xi, who was ready to risk his life, paused in his silence, the scarlet soul fire flickered as he looked around, the deathly quiet voice gradually tinged with emotion.

It was a feeling of repressed anger: ”Alright, but on the condition you deliver my rebellious and foolish brother to me, I need to make him understand the consequences of betrayal.”

”I’m very sorry.” Baiyi reached out his hand, Or’s aura appeared, and sped westward rapidly, already stretching far away.

”By the time we signed the contract, he had already wisely left; it seems he greatly acknowledges your power.”

Crack~

The ground fractured, the clouds in the sky shattered, and the heavy snow in this area which was about to form was instantly destroyed.

Ao Xi officially looked at Baiyi and said, repressing himself: ”I just want to know if I might see him again during this time?”

”Of course, maybe only a few years?” Baiyi said, reverting to the Light Side. He took out ten large Soul Crystals, along with a heap of Alchemy Knowledge and Magic Knowledge.

He warmly said, ”These Magic Knowledge and Soul Crystals are your reward for these fifty years.”

”And that Alchemy Knowledge is auxiliary knowledge for your future work, I’ll set up a workspace for you in this city. Your workload may be slightly heavier over the coming fifty years.”

Ao Xi accepted the items, the soul fire in his eyes still scarlet, but faced with that extreme malice from before, he had no chance to resist.

Besides, fifty years is truly short for an undead, short to the point it feels like a mere flicker.

This time, he could wait.

Baiyi took a breath, not worried about Ao Xi’s rebellion, as Ao Xi’s specialties weren’t few, but compared to Evil Thought, they fell short.
