Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 140: Chapter 140: The Sold Daughter 4

Mr. Wang laughed, ”It’s just adopting a child, why write legal documents? It’s a waste of paper. I, Wang Daquan, swear by my character, I absolutely won’t go back on my word. Rest assured.”

Mr. Wang spoke confidently, but his thoughts were quite the opposite.

The Hang City is a nice place, he wanted to settle down here. With those two elder daughters living far away, the Wang family can’t benefit from them. Only the younger daughter is here. When his son Da Bao grows older, he plans to recognize the younger daughter back, exchange her for a dowry, and save the money for Da Bao’s marriage.

However, once the adoption documents are signed, it won’t be easy to recognize the younger daughter back.

The old village chief’s face darkened, ”Wang Daquan, Sangen’s adopting a child, drafting adoption papers is proper and reasonable. Your reluctance makes us question your intentions.”

”Wang Daquan, adopting a child is a big deal. You can’t rely solely on verbal promises. It’s safer to draft an adoption document.” Ge Sangen added.

People from Ge Family Village surrounded Wang Daquan. ”I say, Wang Daquan, it’s just drafting a document, why hesitate over it?”

”Exactly, Wang Daquan. Today, either you don’t exchange your daughter for grain, or you leave some adoption documents.”

The implication was that they couldn’t leave without the adoption documents.

The Wang couple were outsiders and couldn’t outmatch the locals, especially when they were from the same village.

Finally, a group of people went to the brigade office. The Wang couple signed and fingerprinted the document written by the old village chief, allowing their family to leave the village.

To ensure thoroughness, the old village chief prepared two extra copies, one for the brigade office, one for the commune, and one for the public security bureau, leaving three copies with Ge Sangen. ”Sangen, keep these documents safe. I’m not confident in Wang Daquan, he’ll surely come for the child again. Tomorrow, go with me to the commune and the public security bureau, we’ll register the documents and the child’s household registration through proper channels, so we’ll have nothing to fear when Wang Daquan comes for the child.”

”Okay, thank you, uncle.”

Ge Sangen put away the papers and took his wife and daughter home.

Once home, he handed the documents to Qian Xiaoying and instructed her, ”Don’t store them all in one place. Let my mother keep one; she hides things well.”

Qian Xiaoying nodded, ”You’re thoughtful as always.”

”Mom, give me one. I want to keep a copy of my adoption document myself.” Yuan Chun suddenly reached out.

”Alright, alright, you can keep one.”

Hearing a child call her ’mom’ for the first time, Qian Xiaoying was overjoyed. Not only would she give a document, but she would find a way to get her meat if she wanted.

”Yuan Chun, you must be hungry. I’ll steam an egg custard for you. We still have some eggs, and I’ll reserve them for you.”

Qian Xiaoying handed Yuan Chun a copy, then carefully locked the other two documents in a box before heading to the kitchen to cook.

Before long, a bowl of steaming egg custard was placed in front of Yuan Chun.

Yuan Chun’s body had gone without food and drinks for three days. Had she not entered the Ge family today, she might have starved to death if it had been one more day.

She drank the custard in small sips, savoring the taste when suddenly an elderly woman hurriedly ran over, shouting from afar, ”Xiao Ying, I heard you’ve adopted a little girl.”

”Oh wow, is this the little girl? Such big eyes, small nose, and mouth, truly beautiful. Just too skinny, you need to feed her more. I have two eggs; I’ll bring them over tomorrow for her to eat.”
