Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 135: Chapter 135: Eloping with My Eldest Sister-in-Law 47

The two elderly members of the Yu family were very warm towards Yuan Chun, especially Grandma Yu, who held Yuan Chun’s hand the moment she entered the house and didn’t let go. With her other hand, she kept bringing all sorts of imported snacks from the coffee table to Yuan Chun.

”These are from the foreign exchange coupons that the old man gave me. I went specially to the Friendship Store to buy them. I heard that young girls like you like these. I bought a bit of each kind, so just take whatever you like. Once you’re at home, don’t be polite with me, an old lady. I like kids who are easygoing and get along quickly.”

As soon as she entered, it became her own home. This instant familiarity made Yuan Chun want to laugh, but she was also touched that the two elders didn’t look down on her because she was a divorced woman.

One could say that Yuan Chun’s first visit to the boyfriend’s house to meet his parents was a success.

She really liked the two elders.

However, Yuan Chun still declined Grandma Yu’s enthusiastic invitation to stay with the Yu family.

In the evening, Yu Minjin took Yuan Chun to a two-entry courtyard house closest to the department store. However, the courtyard had been uninhabited for a long time, and everything inside was dusty. The two of them cleaned for more than an hour before they got the main room, kitchen, and a bedroom where Yuan Chun would stay cleaned up.

After laying out her luggage on the bed, Yuan Chun saw Yu Minjin off.

The next morning, just as Yuan Chun got up, Yu Minjin arrived.

Not only did he bring her breakfast, but he also brought a set of gardening tools, a gas stove, a coal stove, and two large bags of coal.

”It’s cold. If you want to use hot water often, you can burn coal. I’ll bring you more coal. If you don’t want the trouble of changing coal, you can use the gas stove, which is convenient for cooking.”

While speaking, Yu Minjin put the items in the kitchen and taught Yuan Chun how to use them.

After breakfast, Yu Minjin took the gardening tools and cleared the grass in the front and back yards. He then asked Yuan Chun, ”What flowers would you like to plant? Grandma has a lot of flower seeds. I’ll bring you some packs tomorrow.”

”I want to plant vegetables. I brought vegetable seeds.”

What flowers? You can’t eat flowers. A survival expert always thinks of food.

Yu Minjin chuckled, ”Then I’ll come tomorrow to help you plant vegetables.”

In the evening, Yu Minjin took Yuan Chun to a nearby private kitchen for a meal. They ate lamb potstickers and lamb soup.

The next day, Yu Minjin came again to help Yuan Chun plant vegetables.

By the third day, they had tidied up the front and back yards of the small courtyard. The two of them toured all the famous scenic spots in Beijing together.

While the two were enjoying their own world, far away in South City, a case of smuggling antiques abroad came to an end.

That year, there was a strict crackdown, and everyone involved in the case was executed.

The news of Liu Fuchai’s execution also reached Cloud Bridge Village, making Liu Baozhu, who was already frequently beaten, live an even harder and more painful life. Not only did she endure daily beatings and scoldings from her mother-in-law and husband, but she also suffered ridicule from the villagers.

A year later, on the day the college entrance examination was reinstated, Liu Baozhu was beaten to death at home by Er Laizi and his mother.

After the college entrance exam was reinstated, reforms quickly followed. Yuan Chun, who had already been married for a year and a half and had become a mother, immediately sold her work, took the money, and opened a fast-food restaurant near the university. She brought Mr. Qin and Mrs. Qin to help her run the business, sharing the profits fifty-fifty.

Initially, Mr. and Mrs. Qin didn’t want the money, but after much persuasion and reasoning by Yuan Chun, they finally agreed to the fifty-fifty profit share.

Afterward, she encouraged her two brothers and their wives to come to Beijing to start a business, beginning by setting up stalls to sell clothes.
