Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 128: Chapter 128: Eldest Sister-in-law Elopes with Someone

Yuan Chun glanced at her new house, which she had lived in for less than half a year, feeling a bit reluctant. ”I want to sell it, but not many people in the village can afford it. I wonder if Captain Yu would want to buy it. I can offer a lower price.”

Captain Yu’s eldest son was already married, his younger son was engaged, and the wedding was scheduled for the twenty-second of the twelfth lunar month. His third son was still in junior high school.

With three sons, Captain Yu would eventually have to divide the family estate.

Moreover, with open-minded parents like Granny Yang and Mr. Yang, neither Captain Yu nor his wife would be foolish. They planned to divide the family estate after the second son got married, with the two of them living with their youngest son and daughter.

Previously, they had planned to build a few adobe houses for their two sons, but now there was a better option. Of course, Captain Yu was interested.

However, he also lived in an adobe house. If he bought Yuan Chun’s two brick-and-tile houses, when the time came to divide the family estate, these two houses could only be for him and his wife. Giving them to any one son would seem unfair to the others.

”Alright, I’ll buy it. If you find it inconvenient to take the furniture, you can sell them to me too. As for the house price, you don’t need to give me a discount. Whatever you paid, I’ll pay you the same amount.”

The things in Yuan Chun’s house were all newly acquired. Even though she had lived there for six months, Captain Yu would still get a good deal if he bought them. After all, in those days, buying anything required not just money but also ration coupons.

Yuan Chun would only accept money, not coupons, which was still advantageous for him.

But Yuan Chun always kept her family in mind.

She apologized, ”I’ll sell the house to you, Captain Yu, but I need to keep the furniture for my two brothers. My family will be dividing the estate in a couple of days, and these things will save my brothers the trouble of acquiring new ones.”

”That’s fine, you should prioritize your brothers,” Captain Yu replied.

Captain Yu was not a greedy person, and he was already pleased just to secure the two brick-and-tile houses. After all, in those days, even buying bricks and tiles required connections and permits.

Once everything was settled and the drinks mostly finished, it was getting late. It wouldn’t be right to let Captain Yu leave just like that, so Captain Yu invited him to his house, where he spent the night with his second son.

Early the next morning, Yuan Chun made a few dishes, steamed a pot of mantou, and brought them next door.

The captain’s wife smiled, ”My dear, you don’t have to be so polite. We won’t be lacking in a meal because of Captain Yu.”

Accepting the food, she added, ”Yuan Chun, why don’t you stay and eat with us?”

”No, Auntie, I have to leave the day after tomorrow, and there’s still a lot to take care of at home. I need to hurry and have a meal before heading to my family’s place.”

”Alright, then I won’t keep you,” she replied.

After leaving Captain Yu’s house, Yuan Chun went to the kitchen to eat, then fed the chickens and pigs, washed dishes, and cleaned up before borrowing Captain Yu’s bicycle to go to Banqiao Village.

As Yu Minjin finished his meal and came out, he gave her a deep look and said, ”I can drive you there.”

He explained further, ”I don’t have anything to do these days. I might as well be your temporary driver. You just need to feed me.”

Yuan Chun agreed without a second thought.

Later, when her family came over to move things, having a jeep to transport items would be much faster than using an ox cart.

Ten minutes later, the jeep stopped in front of the Qin family’s gate.

Yuan Chun went inside, explained the situation to Mr. Qin and Mrs. Qin, and then led her family members, a dozen or so people, to her house. They moved all the furniture and belongings she couldn’t take with her, including pots and pans, farm tools, food supplies, and even two old hens, over to the Qin family house in batches with the jeep.
