Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 119: Chapter 119: Eldest Sister-in-law Elopes with Another Man 31

Until Liu Fusheng and several village officials who came upon hearing the news arrived, they managed to separate the four people entangled in a fight.

The brigade leader saw the faces of the two women, one old and one young, covered with blood, while Liu Fuchai also had a bruised and swollen nose, and his eyes were swollen from the beating. Furious, he asked, ”What on earth happened? How did you all end up fighting?”

”Brigade leader, this old hag is slandering me, saying I’m involved with her son. I...”

Before she could finish speaking, Er Lai’s mother interjected, ”Brigade leader, she is indeed involved with my son. If she weren’t, why would she end up in my son’s bed? Why would my son go and work for her? Without any relation, who would help her?”

The brigade leader turned to Liu Baozhu, ”Did Er Laizi work for you?”

”He went there himself; what’s it got to do with me?” Liu Baozhu retorted, trying to defend herself.

Er Lai’s mother glared at her, ”If you had nothing to do with my son, would he help you with your tasks? In our village, when an unmarried man helps an unmarried woman, it means they’re involved. If the woman doesn’t drive the man away, she implicitly agrees to the engagement. Liu Baozhu, let me tell you, this afternoon I’ll come to your home to propose; my son is definitely marrying you as his bride.”

”Mom, Treasure Bead is already mine. She will definitely marry me.” Er Laizi announced smugly.

Liu Baozhu, outraged, closed her eyes and fainted.

Liu Fuchai was about to rush forward to hit Er Laizi, but Er Laizi shamelessly looked toward the sullen-faced Liu Fusheng. He said, ”Brother-in-law, Treasure Bead fainted. I’ll take her back first, and tonight my mom and I will come to the Liu Family to propose. Brother-in-law, remember to ask sister-in-law to prepare meals for two more people. I heard sister-in-law is the daughter of a high-ranking officer and the family is wealthy. Let sister-in-law go to the county to buy some meat; brother-in-law, I haven’t tasted meat for ages.”

As he spoke, he chuckled and licked his lips, looking like a famished ghost craving food.

Liu Fusheng kicked him, sending him flying, then looked harshly at Er Lai’s mother, ”Er Lai’s mother, I know what you and Er Laizi are scheming. I advise you to stop, or don’t blame me for disregarding the village ties and sending you to the police station.”

”Slandering innocence, forcibly seizing — any of these could get you sentenced if you ended up at the police station. If you’re eager for farm reform, I’ll happily oblige you and your son.” Liu Fusheng threatened fiercely.

Er Lai’s mother was frightened.

Liu Baozhu and Liu Fuchai are both useless fools in her eyes, but Liu Fusheng is different. He’s been to Bin, seen the world, and has a high-ranking officer for a father-in-law.

If he is serious, then...

Cold sweat broke out on Er Lai’s mother’s back.

She immediately changed her tone, ”Fusheng, it was all a misunderstanding, misunderstanding. Isn’t Er Laizi fond of Treasure Bead? He went to work for her, and Treasure Bead didn’t refuse. I thought they became a pair, but then... Ah, I didn’t expect this. Treasure Bead only wanted to coax my son into working for her, not intending to be involved with him. Never mind, never mind. Let’s consider my son’s morning effort wasted. If Treasure Bead doesn’t want to marry, she doesn’t have to.”

Then, she touched her face, ”Look, my face is scratched and bleeding badly by Treasure Bead, a more serious injury than what Treasure Bead suffered. Fusheng, although we belong to the same village, neighbors and all, I shouldn’t get serious with you. But with my face like this, I certainly can’t work this afternoon. My family relies solely on me to support us. If I can’t work, we can’t survive. You ought to compensate me with some money.”

Er Lai’s mother shamelessly reached out to demand money from Liu Fusheng.
