Quick Transmigration: The Cannon Fodder's Comeback in the Era Tales

Chapter 130: Chapter 130: Eloping with Someone—Big Sister-in-Law 42

Yuan Chun obediently listened to the elders’ advice, but as she listened, why did the conversation derail?

Yuan Chun’s face darkened, ”Dad, Mom, even if Captain Yu isn’t married, he’s from Beijing and a high-ranking officer in the army. How could he possibly be interested in me? You are not allowed to bring this up again.”

Yuan Chun worried that tomorrow when Yu Minjin comes to pick her up, her parents might mention it again, making Captain Yu feel incredibly awkward.

Mrs. Qin pouted, disagreeing, ”What’s wrong with you? You’re beautiful, a junior high school graduate, and now you have a good job. How can you not match him? Look, he seems to be in his thirties, much older than you. If you marry him, you’d be at a loss.”

Yuan Chun laughed, ”Mom, I’m a divorced woman. What high-ranking officer would marry a divorced woman like me?”

To reassure her parents, she added, ”Dad, Mom, once I get my footing in Beijing, I’ll find a suitable man to marry. Don’t worry, I won’t be alone forever.”

...

The next day, just after the Qin family finished eating, Yu Minjin arrived in a jeep.

The Qin family had prepared a lot of things for Yuan Chun, including homemade dried sweet potatoes, roasted peanuts, homemade sesame candy, and dried black fungus mushrooms.

They also gave Captain Yu a big bag of black fungus mushrooms.

Mrs. Qin made Yuan Chun a pair of hand-sewn cloth shoes with a thousand-layer sole.

”These shoes are sturdy. Wear them carefully, don’t wear them in the rain...” Tears streamed down Mrs. Qin’s face, ”Yuan Chun, it’s been three years since you wore shoes made by Mom. In the future, Mom will make you two pairs every year and mail them to you. Once you arrive, be sure to let Mom know you’re safe, and send the address home so Dad and Mom won’t worry.”

”I know, Mom. When I get to Beijing, I’ll send you a telegram.” Yuan Chun held the shoes, warmth filling her heart.

With parents this good, how could the original person with a romantic brain bear to sever ties with the elders back then?

Yuan Chun left in Captain Yu’s jeep.

Mr. and Mrs. Qin silently shed tears, standing at the door for a long time, until they couldn’t see the jeep anymore, before returning indoors.

Back in the room, Mrs. Qin found a roll of money Yuan Chun had stuffed under the elders’ pillows. She was both angry and moved.

”This child, why is she still so silly, not knowing to keep money when she has it, and even leaving a whole roll. Look, her father, see how filial your daughter is. She left this for us, two hundred yuan. This child, is she not living well, giving us so much money? Who knows how much she has left.”

Mrs. Qin said, tears streaming down her face.

Mr. Qin replied, ”Keep it for Yuan Chun, give it to her when she needs it.”

Yuan Chun had money from selling her house, and there was still a lot of compensation from Liu Fusheng left. Their daughter should have enough money even in Beijing.

These two hundred yuan, he would keep for his daughter, just in case.

Already seated in Yu Minjin’s car, Yuan Chun hadn’t even considered that the money she secretly gave to Mr. and Mrs. Qin was never intended to be spent by them but saved for her.

Last night, Mrs. Qin secretly gave her one hundred yuan, which she took at the time. This morning, she secretly slipped it back under her parents’ pillow, adding another two hundred yuan.

She was afraid that if the elders fell ill or something happened, she wouldn’t be able to take care of them from far-away Beijing.

Leaving a bit more money with them would make things a little better.

She wanted to leave more, but feared her parents would worry she didn’t have enough to spend and send it back to her.

Two hundred yuan, not too much, not too little, just right.
