When making that final decision, Wen Pin was distracted for a moment, and Zhao Yun noticed that so he took advantage of it to end this mock duel early, and it worked as Wen Pin was caught off guard as his glaive was flying in the air being propelled by Zhao Yun, and with that the mock duel ended in cheers and applause from the people who watched them, especially Lie Fan who was satisfied with the performance.

From the start of the duel, Lie Fan could see that Wen Pin was on the losing end, and not only from the start of the duel but from the moment he proposed Zhao Yun’s name to Wen Pin, Lie Fan already knew he would lose.

He only hoped that maybe from this duel Wen Pin would have an epiphany and could determine what his final decision would be, and choose to fully swear his allegiance to him.

Having Wen Pin is a good thing for him because he specializes in defensive battles, and he doesn’t have many generals who specialize in defensive battles, only Ji Ling and Gao Shun have a specialty in those.

On the training ground, Wen Pin and Zhao Yun put down their weapon and saluted each other as a sign of respect toward each other, and they returned their training weapon back to the weapon rack.

The two of them then walk back to Lie Fan’s position while talking about their exchange, where Wen Pin praises Zhao Yun highly and admires his skill, prowess, and limitless future.

Zhao Yun waved his hand and said that Wen Pin was also very talented and powerful and that Lie Fan would be very blessed to have Wen Pin serve under him.

Both admired each other greatly and their conversation entered Lie Fan’s scope of hearing, and Zhao Yun’s words satisfied Lie Fan because Zhao Yun inadvertently persuaded Wen Pin to join him.

Wen Pin and Zhao Yun joined Lie Fan and the others outside of the training ground, where Wen Pin immediately bent his knees and swore his allegiance to Lie Fan, and then said that he would like for Lie Fan to send someone to bring out his family from Jiangling, especially since Jiangling was under siege.

Lie Fan approached him and helped him stand up, and patted him on both of his shoulders then said that he would send a rescue team immediately, and to not worry that his family would be safe and sound.

Listening to Lie Fan’s words, he thanked him and said that he would uphold his oath and that may heaven strike him down if he ever broke his oath to betray Lie Fan or to escape, which goes against his beliefs.

The words that have been just said by Wen Pin caused Zhao Yun to admire him even further, as he also holds beliefs and loyalty as his core values to keep him going, and now that there’s someone who is the same as him, Zhao Yun feels that he is finally not alone.

Unbeknownst to the two of them, this new bond that they found between each other will lead to a long-lasting brotherhood. Lie Fan appreciated Wen Pin’s oath and assigned Wen Pin to Zhang Chao and Zang Hong’s Xuanwu Army and had him become the defender of Jiangxia.

The reason why Lie Fan assigned Wen Pin as the defender of Jiangxia, is because, in the original timeline, Wen Pin has proved again and again as the stalwart defender of Upper Jing Province for Cao Cao.

He managed to push back Sun Quan and Liu Bei’s attempt to attack Cao Cao’s domain in Jing Province, even though he lost Jiangling to Guan Yu but the process of the battle was fully on Wen Ping’s side.

Assisted by Yue Jin they managed to drive off Guan Yu from Xunkou, destroy Guan Yu’s supply train at Han Ford, and burn his fleet at Jingcheng.

However, the casualties on Cao Cao’s forces were beyond affordable for them after nearly a year of intense fighting, so Cao Cao admitted defeat and ordered his Wen Pin and Yue Jin to forfeit Jiangling.

During his tenure as the defender of Jing Province, he only lost one battle, and the rest he managed to defend the Jing Province area under Cao Cao perfectly, where both Liu Bei and Sun Quan couldn’t shake his position for many years until his death.

Lie Fan’s words surprised some people present, including Huang Zu but after remembering that he doesn’t have control over his army anymore, he decided to accept it because he knew Wen Pin’s capability.

As Lie Fan’s assignment was accepted by Wen Pin, where Lie Fan then ordered Jia Xu to draft the letter of appointment, far from their location at Lie Fan’s colony in Taiwan something happened.

Yang Hong and Yan Jun who was the de facto leader of Taipei, after holding a meeting before with Li Feng and Ling Cao announced a curfew being put on Taipei, and that military law was enacted.

When their announcement was announced, lucky for them Gan Ning had just arrived in Taipei bringing supplies and more settlers from the mainland, his presence alongside his navy was a huge support for Taipei’s current situation.

Gan Ning goes to the Governor’s Castle to ask about what happened to Yang Hong and Yan Jun, and the two inform him about what information they have just received and that right now they are conducting a full scale investigation.

Gan Ning: ”A rebellion?! Preposterous! How could they believe that they could overthrow us, right now they don’t have any influence over the army whatsoever, and are both masters sure that this Ahuan and his friends trusted?”

Yang Hong: ”Yes we are Admiral Gan Ning, Ahuan could be said to be the first local tribe leader of the Tono Tribe that surrendered to us, and he advocated our policies and language learning to his people.”

Gan Ning: ”Hmm even so I think we still should investigate him, and why do a full scale investigation that placed a curfew and martial law? Isn’t tho going to startle the snake?”

Yan Jun: ”That’s what we wanted actually because Ahuan and his friends have informed us that the rebellion planning has been going on for some time and we deduce that they could start any moment, so why don’t we have them come out now when we were ready while we investigate deeply on who is our suspects.”

Yang Hong: ”What Master Yan Jun has just said is true and before Admiral Gan Ning asked, no the Yuan Clan now called the Xie Clan wasn’t involved, we have investigated them first.”

Gan Ning: ”Since Master Yang Hong had said so then I believe you, they have a reason to maybe do so but now that I think about it, they don’t have any male descendant old enough to rule, and if the current lady became the rule I’m sure that not many will listen to her.”

Yan Jun: ”The chances of the Xie Clan doing this are very low because they don’t have a strong foundation and don’t have any influences in Taipei, so there’s no chance they could do it.”

Gan Ning: ”I somewhat agree with your point Master Yan Jun, but I think if they tr-”

Guard: ”My Lord! There’s an emergency! Outside of Taipei, there is a large group of Tono Tribesmen!”

Gan Ning who was speaking was cut off by the sudden appearance of a guard who was reporting an emergency to them, that outside of Taipei there was a large group of Tono Tribesmen.

This report surprised everyone present, but Yang Hong and Yan Jun who had been prepared for it weren’t as surprised as Gan Ning.

The three of them stood up and left the main hall, where then they headed toward the southern wall of Taipei, where Li Feng and Ling Cao were already there leading the defenses with their men.

In the first expedition, there were around 30,000 men but after the war against the Tono Tribe, there were around 27,000 men left with around 1,000 people dying and 2,000 people wounded and the wound caused them to can’t fight anymore.

Gan Ning separated from Yang Hong and Yan Jun heading toward the port, to prepare his navy to support Li Feng and Ling Cao using his navy firepower.

Both Li Feng and Ling Cao were overlooking the field from the top of the wall, where there were around 10,000 to 15,000 Tono people using pitchforks, hoes, and makeshift swords.

Considering the number and equipment used by the Tono Tribesmen, they weren’t a big threat to them and could be neutralized easily but it was different if they didn’t know about the rebellion.

Without any preparation and even knowing there would be a rebellion, the Tono rebels could easily infiltrate their barracks under the guise of sending some food supplies or other things, and poison their water supply or food supply.

They could also assassinate many soldiers and take their equipment for their own use, such machinations will be hard to notice if they aren’t informed by Ahuan and his friends.

When they thought about this, from the large group of Tono rebels a single person stepped forward and introduced himself as Aching, the Prince of the Tono Clan and he demanded them surrender as there were more of the Tono people coming.

He has called for the Tono Tribesmen who stand by his side who live outside of Taipei and who loathed the way of life that was taught by Yang Hong and Yan Jun, that it was a disgrace to their ancestors who taught them the way of hunt and survival in the jungle.

The fluent Aching surprised both Li Feng and Ling Cao, where the two suspected that he just have infiltrated and learned their language and culture before silently gathering his strength to rebel.

As for whether Aching was really the Prince of the Tono tribe or not wasn’t a matter to them, what’s they needed to do now was to defend Taipei and neutralize Aching and his men before their reinforcement arrived.

Before the two of them could respond to Aching, Yang Hong and Yan Jun arrived at the wall where they joined Li Feng and Ling Cao, and then the two of them were informed about what had just transpired by Ling Cao.

Hearing what Ling Cai had told the two of them, they were surprised because this Aching was a name they give to one of the lists smartest Tono people they teach, never expecting that he had bad intentions from the start, and using the knowledge he learned from them to amass large company of Tono Tribesmen to rebel, which was a wake up call for them to not underestimate the intelligent of the Tono People.
