This caused some of the horses that hit the wall to be injured, including the horse of the cavalry commander. This causes him and several of his unit to fall from their horse and before they can stand up, Zhang Fei and his infantries stab them repeatedly killing them. While all of this was happening, Liu Pan and his unit at the first gate of the formation came into contact with Liu Biao’s infantries who were using the turtle formation.

Liu Pan leads his men in a defensive skirmish against Liu Biao’s infantries, due to Liu Biao’s infantries using the turtle formation, Liu Pan has less mobility room for him and his unit to push the infantries to enter the formation.

Especially since Liu Biao’s Archers shot their arrows at them every couple of minutes, and none were managed to be taken out by Liu Pan and his men since they were well protected, in the center of the turtle formation.

Cai Mao and Wang Can saw this and they finally see some hope that maybe they have a fighting chance, and when their hope slowly rose it was quickly brought down when they saw one of the formations was being hit by a big rock.

Seeing this they didn’t expect Liu Bei’s Army to have catapults on their side, as Liu Bei’s side was on the defensive side while they were on the offensive side.

Cai Mao: ”Bastards! Why do they bring catapults?! Aren’t they on the defense against us?!”

Wang Can: ”I don’t know for sure General Cai, but Ju Shou was known for his talent in military strategies and maybe he has seen far ahead more than me, if the two of us compared, I was nothing compared to him.”

Cai Mao: ”Wang Can you didn’t answer my question! What should I do now that something like this happened?! Your turtle formation was worthless compared to the firepower of catapults!”

Wang Can: ”We could only wait and see My Lord, this could be an attrition battle if Liu Bei’s army doesn’t have any catapults, but since they have a catapult how about we retreat and regroup our army?”

Cai Mao: ”Stupid! You’re the strategist! Couldn’t you see that if we retreat now, not only our men would lose their morale, but we would also lose 5,000 cavalries without causing big casualties to Liu Bei’s Army!”

Wang Can could only bow his head in silence, when though he was a great orator but now he didn’t dare to say anything anymore, afraid that if he said one more word Cai Mao would have him hanged or beheaded.

While Cai Mao was venting his anger to Wang Can, back on the battlefield the appearance of the catapult changed the whole complexion of the battle, especially for Liu Pan and his unit.

The catapult allows Liu Pan and his men to pick off Liu Biao’s infantries and archers when their formation is broken, and manage to push them to enter the formation where there’s no way out for them except Liu Biao’s luck is the same as Liu Bei.

Slowly the vanguard of Liu Biao’s Army entered the Eight Gate Formation under Liu Pan’s direction, around 20,000 men were trapped and Kuai Yue seeing this ordered another set of war drum sounds.

When the entirety of Liu Bei’s Army heard this drum sound, all of the formations began to shift and entered an offensive mode except for Liu Pan and the first gate, where they entered a defensive mode to keep out the rest of Liu Biao’s Army.

The 20,000 trapped Liu Biao’s men began to panic seeing that they didn’t have a way out, and this panic was then taken advantage of by Guan Yu who led a set of Liu Bei’s Cavalries to mow down Liu Biao’s trapped infantries and archers.

The sudden appearance of Guan Yu and his cavalry unit caused large damage to Liu Biao’s trapped soldiers, and Cai Mao alongside Wang Can could only see this happening gall right before their eyes.

Cai Mao has long stopped venting his anger to Wang Can as he knew that there was nothing he could do by getting angry with Wang Can, and seeing the tide of the battle began completely against them, he decided to send out both Lu Gong and Huo Jun out to the battlefield.

He hoped that the presence of the veteran and young generals could improve their combat power since their defeat at Jiangxia had caused many of Liu Biao’s powerful generals such as Wen Pin, Li Yan, and Huang Chao captured by Lie Fan’s Army.

Both Lu Gong and Huo Jun tide out to the battlefield with their own units, Lu Gong leads a set of elite infantries while Huo Jun leads a set of elite cavalries units, and the two have been ordered by Wang Can to knock down the first gate formation of Liu Bei’s Army.

The battle at Jixan is burning brightly and begins to enter a new page of the battle between Liu Biao and Liu Bei, as all of this is happening on Xiapi at Lie Fan’s side something shocking has just happened.

Lie Fan who was working at his office in the Governor’s Castle with Jia Xu and Chen Qun, was surprised when a guard told him that both of his parents had come to visit him from Langye.

Not receiving any letters from his father and mother about their visit, Lie Fan hurriedly left his office followed by his bodyguards, Jia Xu, and Chen Qunthey headed toward the main hall where he saw his father and mother waiting for him.

After greeting the two of them with respect and then proceeding to hug them, he told the two of them to take a seat and then began to ask them why they didn’t inform him that they wanted to visit so that he could send a contingent of soldiers to guard them.

Hearing this, Yu Yan knocked the side of Lie Fan’s head who was sitting beside them as he didn’t sit in the main chair, and proceeded to tell him that it wouldn’t be a surprise if they informed him.

Lie Shang looks at his wife’s actions softly and tells her to not act like that, as their son was one of the strongest Warlords now what would people say if she treated him like that while looking at her with soft eyes.

Listening to her husband’s words, Yu Yan just snorted and proceeded to ask Lie Fan how the condition of their daughter in laws and grandchildren is, which Lie Fan told them they could see for themselves when they go to the Lie Clan Estate with him.

Yu Yan: ”I asked you a question young man, and the words you gave weren’t the answer that would like to hear, and if we have to see for ourselves why do we need to wait for you who was busy doing some work, it would take hours for you to be done.”

Lie Fan: ”Ahem Mother please give me some face in front of my retainers, you knew that your Son now was a big Warlord what would people say if they saw or heard about me being scolded by his own mother in broad daylight?”

Lie Shang: ”Yan’er I have told you before to watch your manners, I knew you were anxious for our daughter in laws and grandchildren, but it wasn’t an excuse for you to act that way.”

Yu Yan: ”Hah... I know I know I’m sorry Fan’er, Mother has been under too much stress taking care of the Merchant Group, so how about the part of us going back to your estate?”

Lie Fan: ”It’s alright Mother I understand, I will send you some accountants and clerks to help you, and don’t worry we could go right now I could leave Wenhe and Chanwen to handle my daily duties.”

Hearing their name being called, both Jia Xu and Chen Qun took a step forward and cupped their hand toward Lie Shang and Yu Yan greeting the two of them respectfully.

Both Lie Shang and Yu Yan return their greetings, and then they have the Castke heading toward the Liw Clan estate as Yu Yan can’t wait to sew her grandchildren, especially the cute babies.

When they arrived at the entrance of the Lie Clan estate, they saw Lu Lingqi and Lady Yan who also had just arrived at the Lie Clan estate.

The two were surprised by the sudden appearance of Lie Fan’s personal carriage, as they knew that at this time Lie Fan was very busy especially since Xiapi was undergoing a massive renovation and expansion project.

Yu Yan was the first to get down from the carriage, then followed suit by Lie Shang and Lie Fan. Lu Lingqi seeing Lie Shang and Yu Yan was shocked, so shocked that she stood still, and her action attracted Lady Yan’s attention who tried to bring her to greet Lie Fan and the two people alongside him.

Lie Fan sees Lu Lingqi and his eyes light up, because after their return from You Province Liw Fan was shaped with tons of work and when they finally could spend some time together, the Sun Clan’s invitation arrived and they all head toward Yang Province.

There’s no chance for him to spend some private time together with Lu Lingqi to deep end the feelings they have just confused with each other, and after they return from the Sun Clan the work he left piled up and needed his attention.

When Lie Fan wanted to step forward and greet Lu Lingqi and Lady Yan, he was cut off by Yu Yan who immediately approached both Lu Lingqi and Lady Yan, where she greeted Lu Lingqi first smiling kindly to her, and then greeted Lady Yan with proper decorum needed while then asking for her name.

Before Lady Yan could even respond a single word to Yu Yan, Lu Lingqi woke up from her thoughts when she heard Yu Yan’s voice, where she immediately greeted Yu Yan back and also greeted Lie Shang who had joined Yu Yan’s side, followed suit by Lie Fan who stands on the right of his mother.

She introduced her mother to both Yu Yan and Lie Shang and vice versa, when Yu Yan heard that Lady Yan was Lu Lingqi’s mother her kind smile became much more kind, and apologized to Lady Yan for the trouble Lie Fan had caused by bringing Lu Lingqi to battle with him previously.

Hearing this Lady Yan smiled kindly and shook her head in response, saying that it wasn’t Lie Fan’s fault since it was Lu Lingqi who was insistent on it and there was nothing that she and Lie Fan could do to stop her.

Lady Yan and Yu Yan then continue to talk with each other ignoring the other three people beside them, and before long the two call each other sister.

This surprised Lie Fan who was in awe at the fast speed of his mother and his future mother in law in becoming friends, seeing this he turned to Lu Lingqi and winked his eyes causing her to blush and all of this was noticed by both Lady Yan and Yu Yan, who looked at each other and let out a gentle laugh as the both of them could see what each other was thinking.
