Not one of Lie Fan’s retainers tasted the delicacies before Lie Fan took his chopsticks and tried the food first, after Lie Fan gave some praise to the food prepared then they followed suit in eating the food in from of them. Gongsun Gong was happy with the reaction received from Lie Fan, he didn’t care if it was just a formality or really a compliment as he was in a happy mood with the Gongsun Clan being saved from a nightmare path.

While in the main hall of the Governor’s castle festivities begin with a great atmosphere, in Gongsun Clan’s residence Gongsun Du was escorted there by the guards and forced to enter his own residence by force.

Gongsun Du was angered by the treatment he received from his former guards, when he turned his body and wanted to scold them he saw the gate of his residence was closed by them.

Seeing this he walks toward the gate and hits it a few times while asking for the gate to be opened, and that he is the Lord of You Province which should be treated with the respect he deserves.

No response could be heard from the opposite side of the gate, either he was being ignored or there was no one standing on the opposite side of the gate. He keeps yelling which attracts the attention of his wife and the rest of his family members.

Gongsun Du’s wife approached him and asked what was going on that caused him to yell so loud, Gongsun Du who heard his wife’s voice turned around and after taking several deep breaths explained what happened to her and the other family members who joined them.

Hearing that her stepson overthrew her husband and now holds absolute control over their life deals a massive blow to her, and Gongsun Kang’s wife was also surprised by what she heard not expecting her brother in law to do something like this.

Gongsun Du’s wife can’t stand the shock the news causes her and she almost falls down but fortunately for her Gongsun Du sees her condition and immediately goes to her side to catch her.

Gongsun Kang’s wife seeing her mother in law like that also comes to her side and supports her, helping Gongsun Du carry her mother in law inside to take a seat, unbeknownst to them the servants and guards inside the residence were quickly changed to Oriole members which dispose of the last bit of people loyal to Gongsun Du.

The festivities in the Governor’s Castle lasted until evening, Gongsun Gong personally escorted Lie Fan and his retainers to the rooms prepared for them, and by tomorrow morning Lie Fan and his advisors will revive the reports of all departments.

Lie Fan waves his hand saying that he could take his time, and the Lie Fan asks if he needs any help in pushing back the Goguryeos. Because if he needed help, he could lend one of his army to help him.

Gongsun Gong hearing this immediately accepted the offer Lie Fan gave to him, thanking Lie Fan for his generosity and complimenting his foresight knowing that he needed help in taking care of the Goguryeos.

Jia Xu, Xun You, and Chen Gong don’t comment on the action Lie Fan just did which causes Gongsun Gong to heave a sigh of relief, not knowing that the reason they don’t comment is because they agree with Lie Fan’s action.

From the information they gathered, the Goguryeos in the Southeast were the strongest kingdom in that area, and while the population wasn’t as big as China’s, their military strength couldn’t be trifled with.

They could face Gongsun Du’s aggressive expansion and hold him from achieving what he wanted for several years, and could still maintain their position as the strongest kingdom in that area.

After another small miscellaneous conversation, Gongsun Gong left Lie Fan and his retainer to rest for tomorrow, because they will formalize the terms of surrender tomorrow in the morning court.

Lie Fan finally achieved his victory in You Province and until the end of the battle, the news didn’t go outside of You Province, not even Yuan Shao who was the closest know about what happened in You Province.

So now Lie Fan at least could take a good night’s sleep without being worried that the news would slip out, but the battle at Jiangxia crept inside his kind before he could fully sleep but he threw out that thought because he knew that he would win that battle.

Just like Lie Fan’s confidence that he would win against Liu Biao, the situation in Jiangxia began to change rapidly after several days of siege battles where Huang Zu and Li Yan could see that Lie Fan’s army wasn’t giving 100% on their attack each day like they were holding themselves back.

Casualties were mounting on their side and this needed action to stop it from increasing, but Huang Zu and Li Yan didn’t have the time to meet and discuss their next course of action due to the two of them were afraid each of their front overwhelmed by Lie Fan’s Army attack.

Huang Zu at first was optimistic about their condition especially several days ago, when Huang Chao and Wne Ping managed to stop four of Lie Fan’s generals but that hope was shattered by the arrival of Dian Wei.

Dian Wei alone defeated his sons Huang Chao and Wen Ping before taking both of them as prisoners, and then he started from the battlefield letting the previous 4 generals continue to lead the attack.

His son was captured and the strongest general under him was neutralized, Huang Zu could only use any resources and generals at his disposal to support Jiangxia before Liu Biao’s reinforcement came once again.

At this time, Huang Zu was commanding his army from the command area doing his best to hold the defense line he had worked so hard to create, holding Lie Fan’s army from breaking through the line.

When he was focused on doing the task at hand, he was approached by Deng Long and a group of people which surprised him, but soon his face turned grave as he knew the reason for Deng Long and his group coming here to see him.

Since the day Deng Long tried to persuade him to surrender, he began to be wary of him but unfortunately, he cat split his mind right now, so he didn’t know his underground movement before it was too late and he realized it when several of his generals and advisors approached him to surrender.

Huang Zu: ”Deng Long! I have previously said that if you show your face in the command area again, I will kick you out!”

Deng Long: ”Admiral Huang, let’s just throw out these please tries shall we? The battle has been going on for several days now and there’s no improvement at all, our army was being decimated and the people of Jiangxia were suffering due to your stubbornness!*

Huang Zu: ”Reinforcement will arrive! Can’t you see that I’m trying my best?! Stop bothering me and improvement will come, the same to you all behind him!”

Advisor: ”Admiral why can’t you see that we are losing?! I was among the longest advisors serving you, and I could see that you were interested in surrendering but afraid of the consequences if Liu Biao won this war, you can’t put your eggs in two baskets hoping that everything will be fine.”

Deng Long: ”You hear that Admira Huang? Putting all of your eggs in Liu Biao’s basket wasn’t good either, especially with your son in Lie Fan’s hand, but in Lie Fan’s basket on the other hand I’m sure that not only you will stay alive but be promoted to a new position and your son stay alive.”

Huang Zu was looking at the talking Deng Long and the people behind him while his mind was debating on which course of action he would choose.

With each time that passed by since the attack and Deng Long’s revelation at the emergency meeting, the idea of surrendering to Lie Fan was growing at a fast rate, but he was still hesitating to surrender to Lie Fan and now his son was captured by Lie Fan.

All of this was contemplated by Huang Zu, and sighing he finally decided to surrender to Lie Fan they needed to end or capture Li Yan, as proof of loyalty to Lie Fan.

Seeing that his objective was finally achieved Deng Long let out a maniacal laugh, which attracted everyone’s attention to him, and realizing this he let out a cough before saying that he would convey his intent to surrender to Lie Fan’s general personally so that they could take the battle.

Huang Zu nods his head and now that he has made his decision, Huang Zu orders his men on the wall to capture Li Yan’s men who were also on the wall, and then he sends the rest of his army to suppress Li Yan at the port and create a situation to capture him.

Li Yan who was on Jiangxia’s Port led the defense against Huang Zhong and the Qinglong Army, not realizing that Huang Zu had betrayed him and now sending his men to neutralize and capture him.

When Li Yan noticed the situation of his army was changing it was already too late, when he thought Huang Zu’s army come to join him to fight against Lie Fan’s army, his men were killed or captured by Huang Zu’s men.

Li Yan realized this was just like being struck by lightning, where he knew that Huang Zu had made the choice to back up Lie Fan, and now sending his own to neutralize him.

Being stuck between hard rocks, Li Yan could order a retreat because in front of him was Lie Fan’s Army, and now to his rear the one whom he thought his ally had betrayed him and now wanted to take care of him.

Having nowhere else to go, Li Yan decided to die at Jiangxia Port and weaken Lie Fan’s Army as much as possible so that even though he and his army had already died at that time, Liu Biao’s reinforcement who arrived at Jiangxia could have a fighting chance against Lie Fan’s Army and since he has made his mind, Li Yan decided to go all out and even joined on the battle personally to increase the morale of his men.
