This surprised her as she had never seen anyone who could do this except for her father, of course, in her mind, Huang Zhong and Dian Wei could do it but not Lie Fan, and now she saw Lie Fan do it the exact same as her father. While thinking so, ladders rose to the wall and Lu Lingqi seeing this threw away her thoughts as she began to focus on the battle in front of her.

The money the ladder was raised, Lu Lingqi entered alert mode and instructed her unit to enter defensive formation, just like how they trained in case of a siege battle as she knew that the area was much smaller than a normal battle, and she needed to adjust after seeing several surge battle that she participates in before.

Lie Fan raised his eyebrow when he saw and heard what Lu Lingqi was instructing her unit, he didn’t expect that the daughter of Lu Bu had a much more strategic mind than her father who relied on pure prowess and instinct.

Instinct strategies are real, but not many people can use them, especially in the current era where ingenuity and intelligence play a big role in military strategy, using logic and pragmatic methods, while instinct usually relies on your emotions and illogical methods.

That’s why generals who have this talent are often brash and have a high temper due to their need to be in touch with their emotions, but of course, not all can be associated with such talent as it could be their personality like Zhang Fei.

During the Qin Dynasty unification of China and before it, many of the generals of that era relied on their instinct in commanding and directing their army without any strategy as that was their strategy.

Slowly however people who had that inner talent became scarce, especially during Liu Bang against Xiang Yu before the founding of the Western Han Dynasty, Xiang Yu also relied on his instinct even though helped by a strategic mind on his side.

While Liu Bang purely received help from his advisors and generals’ strategic minds, the winner would decide the pathways of how strategic development would head, as everyone knows it was Liu Bang who won in the end defeating Xiang Yu.

From there there were no generals who had the talent to use their instincts to create a tactic or strategy in place, not until the end of Eastern Han that it began to show it and its prominence was Lu Bu, who defeated the Xiongnus to the north.

That’s why he was so powerful and well-known on the border, not only relying on his power but also his instinct, unfortunately, his enemy was the uncoordinated Xiongnus, so his talent was sharpened enough, and when he joined Dong Zhuo he didn’t have a chance to train his talent as Li Ru was the one thinking for strategy.

Lie Fan thought that Lu Lingqi would have the same gift as her father, but it looks like either it was already too late for her or she never had the same gift, seeing as how she used logic to think of a strategy or plan.

Lu Lingqi felt a gaze from beside her looking at her for several minutes, she knew that it was Liw Fan’s gaze and didn’t know why he was looking at her right now with such ’intent’ as he kept looking at her for several minutes.

When she wanted to ask him why he was looking at her, she saw that Gongsun Du’s soldier had reached the top of the wall and began to enter battle stance, and Lie Fan who was beside her alongside his bodyguards did the same.

If you ask why Lie Fan doesn’t order his army to push the ladders down, well it is because Lie Fan and his advisors agree rather than pushing the ladders to stall for time, they should inflict as many casualties as possible rather than waiting in the passive.

Not only it will reduce Gongsun Du’s power with his soldiers being killed one by one, but the trust and loyalty of his general in particular will slowly decrease, and when Taishi Ci and Zhang Liao arrive alongside their army, the killing blow will be quick and swift.

Gongsun Du’s soldier began to climb up the ladder, and came in contact with Lie Fa and his army, beginning the first skirmish of the battle.

The defensive line on the top of the wall was very tight, not just on the northern wall but on another wall as well, with the presence of Lie Fan, Lu Lingqi, Ji Ling, Xu Rong, Zang Ba, and the Chao Brothers the command line was very secure and each of them has a very high combat capability.

So they can lead their men from the first and come in contact with the enemies personally, Lie Fan can be said to be the most brutal in his fighting style now since he has incorporated Lu Bu’s Weapon Mastery.

Gongsun Du’s soldier that were facing Lie Fan either lost their arms, lost their legs, or lost their head killing them immediately. Lie Fan’s ferocity affected Gongsun Du’s soldiers, as they had never seen such an opponent before when they were on an expedition to expand Gongsun Du’s domain.

Fighting both the Goguryeo and Xiongnu on the border, they had never seen such a powerful enemy, and facing Lie Fan right now has a large difference, especially since Lu Bu whom they knew prior when Lu Bu still served Ding Yuan.

Gongsun Du’s general below saw that their soldiers on the top of the wall hadn’t advanced a single bit after they reached the top of the wall, and they sent some men to find information about what was wrong when they received news that there was Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi on that location.

Lie Fan, they know about his prowess and ferocity, especially his merit in defeating Lu Bu alongside Huang Zhong and Dian Wei known all over the land but Lu Lingqi they haven’t known about her merit either because it was too small or haven reached You Province yet.

But for Lu Lingqi herself, they knew her name because it was Lu Bu’s daughter’s name, and the Lu Clan was famous except for the Lu Clan in Lujiang, only Lu Bu’s clan due to Lu Bu himself.

They don’t care about Lu Lingqi for now, but Lie Fan is not a small matter like Lu Lingqi. They know that in Gongsun Du’s rank, there is no one who can face Lie Fan when he defeats Lu Bu, and Lie Fan after several years of that event is even stronger maybe several of Gongsun Du’s generals will be defeated easily if they come together to face Lie Fan.

With Lie Fan weighing down on them and no one could face him one-on-one or even one-on-one, Gongsun Du’s general finally decided to send more soldiers in while the battering ram tried to take down the gate.

They hope that with quantity they could finally overwhelm Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi or just have them retreat so that more of their men can reach the top of the wall expanding their offensive line.

Unfortunately for them, this is what Xun You and Chen Gong desire for them to do, because this means they can inflict more casualties and exhaust their manpower until Taishi Ci and Zhang Liao arrive with their army.

After all, there’s no more reinforcement for Gongsun Du’s Army so having them exhaust more manpower is the only way to have Gongsun Du capitulate in the fastest way, and from there they then can focus on Yuan Shao, holding him back from starting his southern campaign against Cao Cao.

Back on the top of the wall, Lie Fan and his bodyguard created a line alongside Lu Lingqi and her unit holding back Gongsun Du’s soldiers, Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi become the main point of the battle as they work together with impeccable teamwork.

Lie Fan: ”Young Lady Lu I didn’t expect that we work so well together, it’s like we have known each other for so long and have been partners for a long time.”

Lu Lingqi: ”Humph! Lie Fan I tell you better focus on the battle! Not having a conversation with me, otherwise, if you make a mistake and are injured, I don’t know if your men will forgive me.”

Lie Fan: ”Hahaha! Well, that will be- watch out on your left! Great work Young Lady Lu, as I wanted to say it will never happen as I can split my focus, unlike you just know haha!”

Lu Lingqi: ”Isn’t It because of you?! Now you throw the blame on me?! You better stop talking to me so that I can focus!”

Zhou Cang: ”My Lord! Please stop flirting with Young Lady Lu! There were several times that we covered your flank due to you having a conversation with Young Lady Lu *pak!* Ow! Why do you do that?! I was just reminding My Lord!”

Zhou Cang can’t stand Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi who were flirting in his eyes even though it actually was just a conversation between them, was smacked by both Huang Shao and Bo Cai who stood beside him.

In the ranks of Lie Fan’s Bodyguard Zhou Chang is the strongest, but the others can agree that he has the lowest EQ among all of them, even Gong Du is better than him.

Everyone could see that Lie Fan was ’trying’ to woo Lu Libgqi even though they didn’t realize that they misunderstood Lie Fan, as Lie Fan never intended to woo Lu Lingqi but there was some attraction that Lie Fan himself could understand.

Zhou Chang suddenly broke the atmosphere between Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi was a sin in the eyes of his compatriots, now all of them hoped that Lie Fan wouldn’t punish Zhou Chang even though they also thought that it was weird Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi to be ’flirting’ in a battle.

Both Lie Fan and Lu Lingqi were shocked by what Zhou Chang said, like lighting striking them to their core. Lie Fan was surprised and then ashamed because of Zhou Chang’s words and wished to kick this slow man due to what he said as he was having a normal conversation with Lu Lingqi, while Lu Lingqi herself turned red at a fast speed and was embarrassed due to what Zhou Chang said and focus herself on battle causing more suffering for her enemies.
