With Zhao Yun’s agreement, Lie Fan ended the meeting and everyone began to do the assignment that they received or keep doing what they originally were doing, Lie Fan and Jia Xu began to order the Oriole to let out the rumors of him wanting to attack Gongsun Du to distract everyone, and when he finished coordinating with Jia Xu an unexpected guest was waiting for him in his office when he returns from Jia Xu’s office.

He saw Lu Lingqi waiting there, adorned with her training armor and flanked by 5 of her guards. Lie Fan was confused as to what Lu Lingqi was here, and Lu Lingqi who was waiting for Lie Fan hearing the footsteps turned toward the direction of the sound and saw Lie Fan standing there with his bodyguards.

Lu Lingqi let out a smile and after greeting Lie Fan, she told Lie Fan that she had something she wanted to ask him for, another request, and hearing that Lie Fan told Lu Lingqi to enter his office to talk about that.

In Lie Fan’s office, after taking a seat without mincing any words Lu Lingqi immediately talked about what she came here for, which was to ask Lie Fan to bring her alongside her unit with him to battle.

Lie Fan who heard Lu Lingqi’s request at first thought that he heard it wrong, but after Lu Lingqi repeated her request Lie Fan immediately denied her request, as this wasn’t in line with the promise he made with Lu Bu.

Seeing that she was refused by Lie Fan, Lu Lingqi wasn’t angry as she knew that Lie Fan would definitely refuse her request, so she countered him by saying that since he refused, she would join Huangfu Song and Zhu Jun in keeping Xu Province safe.

Lie Fan hearing that instantly stood up from his seat and told Lu Lingqi to not be willful, she had experienced how bloody a battle was and even though he didn’t discriminate between men and women, since they had promised Lu Bu to keep her safe then that’s what he should do, even if he have to put her under house arrest.

The two were on a stall mate for a while, Lie Fan seeing that Lu Lingqi didn’t want to back down with her stubbornness can be seen from her eyes, Lie Fan could only sigh and sit down saying to Lu Lingqi that she needed to consider this more, and if she receives permission from her mother then Lie Fan will allow it.

Lu Lingqi who heard this directly agreed with Lie Fan, and asked him to not renounce his word when she received permission from her mother, with that Lu Lingqi left Lie Fan’s office with her guard.

Lie Fan watching Lu Lingqi leaving his office has a headache but at the same time thinks that this could become a stepping stone to at least elevate women’s status in this era, of course not by much but at least some improvement can be done.

After taking Lu Lingqi’s matter into his mind, Lie Fan continued to oversee the preparation that was done to execute possibly the biggest plan he will execute by far, scheming to take land from two warlords at the same time.

What Lie Fan doesn’t know is that in the future, this will be out in history as one of the biggest schemes of this era, of course, that’s for the future something that Lie Fan doesn’t have any handle to do.

While Lie Fan and his force began to do the preparation and take the steps needed to execute the plan, the rumors of Lie Fan going to attack Gongsun Du began to spread in the land.

After receiving Lie Fan and Jia Xu’s combined order, the Oriole began to spread the rumor of Lie Fan’s army movement to the north, and that Lie Fan had the intention to attack Gongsun Du.

This rumor immediately began to spread crazily like a fire in grassland, Lie Fan’s movement this time was seen as abnormal by any including Cao Cao and Yuan Shao who thought that it would be them who contend for the North.

Of course, Cao Cao’s advisors were skeptical of this rumor, especially Guo Jia since when he saw the map of China, Lie Fan needed to do a naval landing to attack Gongsun Du and he pinpointed that Lie Fan didn’t have a strong navy.

Yuan Shao’s advisors also share the same point of view with Guo Jia more or less, but they don’t know about Lie Fan’s powerful navy that’s because Lie Fan and his navy firepower at the time was so massive, that it became a story that no one believed.

Many of the lords contributed to Lie Fan’s success in his southern campaign against Liu Yas due to the Sun Clan and its navy helping him, not knowing that Lie Fan’s navy itself was the one who took out Liu Yao’s navy.

Liu Biao and Liu Bei in Jing Province when they heard the news are relieved, as they rather face Cao Cao than Lie Fan due to his mysteriousness and unpredictable nature.

Liu Biao and Liu Bei’s advisors also cautioned their lord to not truly believe the rumors and heeded for their lord to at least have the army on stand by but Liu Bei didn’t agree as he thought that it was not his problem, while on Liu Biao’s side Cai Mao rejected this motion and managed to persuade Liu Biao to not agree.

As for the Western Warlords, the Lie Fan movement wasn’t of their concern even though they were interested to see the development and they kept focusing on each of their things, with Ma Teng and Han focusing their assault on Li Jue who defended against the attack as best as he could.

While on Liu Zhang and Zhang Lu’s side, something big happened that caused tension between the two sides to escalate, Zhang Lu who was a vassal to Liu Yan previously declared his independence and Liu Zhang used his family to put pressure on Zhang Lu.

Liu Yan in the past defeated Zhang Lu and took Zhang Lu’s family with him hostage to keep Zhang Lu on a leash as his vassal, but now something unforeseen happened that no one expected which was the guard who was put to guard Zhang Lu’s family killed the entirety of Zhang Lu’s family.

When the news reached Zhang Lu’s ear, Zhang Lu was angered and even threw up some blood then vowed that he would climate the entirety of Liu Zhang’s bloodline and Liu Clan branch.

So the tension of war was brewing between the two warlords, but the movement was made for now but preparation was in progress, especially Zhang Lu’s side which had Hanzhong as his capital which was a very strategic location.

Lastly, Gongsun Du who became one of the protagonists in this rumor immediately panicked and held an emergency meeting with his advisors, because he had heard of Lie Fan’s accomplishment and the number of his army was much bigger than his.

Gongsun Du’s advisors managed to calm Gongsun Du down after some time and began to give their view that it was almost impossible for Lie Fan to invade them as Lie Fan needed to have a very big navy to do that, and Lie Fan didn’t have a big navy.

He managed to calm down and appeased after hearing his advisors, but he still ordered his navy to patrol the sea in case Lie Fan sent his navy alongside his army to do a landing as a precaution.

Gongsun Du’s advisors agreed with his order and thought that it was a good idea for him to be cautious, and also they rather have him move the navy rather than the army who was busy expanding Gongsun Du’s domain in North, Northeast, and Southeast.

Gongsun Du then dismissed the meeting and returned to his Clan estate, where his eldest son Gongsun Kang, and second son Gongsun Gong were waiting for him, he told the two of them to not attend the meeting and to wait there for him.

Gongsun Kang: ”Father you have returned, why do the two of us want allowed to join the meeting? We would have supported Father on your policies and pressured those officials to agree to at least call back the Northern Army to return.”

Gongsun Gong: ”That right Father, as eldest brother has just said we can help you in putting pressure on these officials, all of them can rest easy and enjoy the fruits of our labor as we are the one who does the expansion and conquering.”

Gongsun Du: ”Calm down you two, you know that these officials all were put in by Emperor Ling and then Dong Zhuo, while many of them were corrupt they had the ability to at least stabilize our domestic situation, without them we would lose control over several key areas that we have conquered.”

Gongsun Kang: ”But father they have begun to act more and more out of line! Without your hard work in lobbying Dong Zhuo and then expanding your domain to its current size, they would never enjoy the riches and comforts they have now.”

Gongsun Du: ”Kang’er you have to be more patient and calmer as you will succeed in my position in the future, letting them for now doesn’t mean that we would not do anything to them, don’t worry Father have begun to cultivate some talents that could replace them, I hope the two of you are does the same thing.”

Gongsun Gong: ”Marvelous idea Father! Does father any condition for the background of these talents that will be cultivated?”

Gongsun Du: ”Choose from lease noble clan, small merchant clan, unknown scholars, and even common people who will remember the favor we grant to them and serve us loyally.”

Gongsun Kang: ”That’s easy to do then Father, leave the rest to us and we will do this for you, you need to read more since Father has worked until late these days, be careful that it will have an effect on your health.”

Gongsun Gong who heard what Gongsun Kang said seconded the motion, in the Gongsun Clan there’s only Gongsun Kang and Gongsun Gong as the young master who has the chance to succeed Gongsun Du.

Gongsun Du treated the two of them equally and since you take the two brothers have a deep bond, so now they don’t have rivalry to devise who will succeed their father, rather they leave the choice to Gongsun Du and focus on the task they received from Gongsun Du.

Gongsun Du was touched by the words of his sons, he agreed to take a rest and told the two of them to be cautious in preparing these talents, to not be known by these officials, and after saying those words he left for his room, where while heading there his deep ambition for his future rule was also growing form a seed now a young tree who was fearless, he hoped to desperate from the Han Dynasty and found his own kingdom not knowing that his dream would never be achieved.
