He explained to them that right now he lacked the manpower to focus on the expansion outside of the Empire, and he felt that Gongsun Du was a good candidate to do so as long as they kept him on a tight leash, and used him to expand outside of the Empire gathering resources which can be used to pay for their war in uniting the land under his rule.

The people who knew about this at first were only Jia Xu, Xun You, Chen Qun, Liu Ye, and Chen Gong as they were his main Think Tank advisors, where each had their own specialties and talents which outranks the others below them.

They talked about this with Lie Fan and agreed that they needed to use Gongsun Du for their own agenda, having him expand the borders of Lie Fan’s future Empire outward and when they were done with uniting the land, they could squash Gongsun Du.

Of course, he and his family needed to be under constant surveillance, that’s why all of the servants in Gongsun Du’s estate and his relatives were full of Oriole members, other than keeping an eye on Gongsun Du and his family, it’s all to revive information about the situation of the expansion.

Lie Fan was also assured in Gongsun Du and his eldest son Gongsun Kang in the original timeline, had the ambition to separate themselves from the Han Dynasty and then Cao Cao but didn’t do it until their death.

Gongsun Gong who succeeded Gongsun Kang was different from his father and older brother, he pledged loyalty to Cao Cao and then Cao Pi serving the Cao Wei state until Gongsun Yuan, Gongsun Kang’s son took the power back from Gongsun Gong and founded the Kingdom of Yan.

So Lie Fan can rest easy knowing that the rebellion of the Gongsun Du’s line will not fire for tens of years, and even when suddenly Gongsun Yuan took power it was already too late at the time as Lie Fan wanted to end this before he reached 45 years old.

All the generals nod their heads after hearing Lie Fan’s reason, and with that, the meeting is dismissed by Lie Fan after making sure that everyone understands their assignment and can begin to prepare for the battle.

Everyone left the room one after the other, leaving Lie Fan, Lu Lingqi, Jia Xu, and Lie Fan’s bodyguard in the room, Jia Xu stayed because he had something to report to Lie Fan so he was surprised when Lu Lingqi also stayed there.

Lie Fan could see that Jia Xu had something to report to him, so he asked Lu Lingqi if there was something she wanted to talk about with him, Lu Lingqi who heard Lie Fan’s question immediately asked him what should she do to prepare for the battle.

Lie Fan hearing this was surprised at first but then remembers that Lu Lingqi wasn’t given any assignment or task to do, so he told Lu Lingwi to familiarize herself alongside her army by staying on a ship for some time, to train their fortitude and will to fight off seasickness.

Lu Lingqi who heard this nodded her head and soon left the room, where Jia Xu then began to report to Lie Fan that through the Oriole he had received reports that the army in Lujiang was ready and awaited for their order.

Lie Fan hearing this nodded his head, he asked Jia Xu should the order of attack be sent right now and received in a days a week, or if they should send the order a couple of days later.

Jia Xu felt that they sent it right now, so when the armies in Lujiang received the order right away, then the attack on Jiangxia would immediately attract the attention of all the people, Gongsun Du included.

After some weeks passed, entering the new year Gongsun Du must have lowered his guard and that’s when they should strike Gongsun Du, defeating him at the fastest speed possible and having another vassal at their disposal.

Hearing this Lie Fan thought for a moment and agreed with Jia Xu’s words, so he told Jia Xu to send the order of the attack right away and the rest they needed to wait for the opportune moment.

Jia Xu cupped his hand and bowed, receiving the order, and left the room, leaving Lie Fan and his bodyguards in there. Lie Fan looked at the Vision Map in front of his home where he could see Gongsun Du’s ships sailing around the coast of his domain.

Jia Xu after leaving the room, headed toward a designated Oriole room inside the Castle which was hidden from all except for Oriole members who knew the symbol or code used to tell there was a room there.

In there he wrote the order for the attack on Jiangxia, took out the raven that sent the letter from a cage, and after trying the letter in its feet, he told the raven to send it bag to its master and let it fly away.

A week passed by, and the raven sometimes stopped along the way to rest itself or to eat, then continued its fight before reaching Lujiang where it flew down toward a tent inside a large military encampment near Lujiang.

When the raven entered the tent, he immediately landed on Chen Deng’s shoulder who took the letter from its feet, and gave it a treat as a reward.

Inside the tent, there were Huang Zhong, Dian Wei, Zhang Chao, Liu Ba, Chen Deng, Zang Hong, and Lu Jun who were the high-ranking officers and advisors that were appointed by Lie Fan as the respective leaders of their Army group.

Lu Jun wasn’t the head general of the Lujiang army anymore, but since they were in Lujiang and his army was incorporated into the Xuanwu Army, he was invited after consideration from Chen Deng, Liu Ba, and Zang Hong to placate Lu Kang and his clan.

Since the Lujiang Arny was disbanded, Lu Kang and the Lu Ckan had prostate as they needed the soldiers to protect their border against Huang Zu, even though Lie Fan had sent letters to appease him and explained the reason, also Zhnag Chao came and visit him to explain, Lu Kang and the Lu Clan still grumbles a bit.

So that’s why they incited Lu Jun to participate in the war meeting since it can also be said that the Lu Clan had faced off against Huang Zu who stayed in Jiangxia for a long time now, even though their many weren’t near the strength of both Huang Zu and the Sun Clan.

Chen Deng: ”Everyone, Master Jia Xu said that My Lord has ordered us for the attack, I think we should begin tomorrow the sooner the better since Master Jia Xu said that they will begin the attack on Gongsun Du a day after the new year.”

Liu Ba: ”I agree with Master Chen Deng, then we should do like the previous strategy that we have agreed upon, General Huang Zhong and General Lu Jun alongside the Qinglong Army will lead the navy to fight against Huang Zu navy since only the two of you have experience in leading a navy.”

Huang Zhong: ”Haha! Don’t worry Master Liu Ba, these old bones will not disappoint My Lord, Lu Jun but you better keep up with me!”

Lu Jun: ”Yes General Huang! I will do my best to keep up with you, I will also bring the Lu Clan’s navy to increase the scope of our attack.”

Liu Ba: ”Alright good, then General Zhang Chao and the Xuanwu Army alongside General Dian Wei and the Baihu Army will attack through land, conquering towns and villages on the way to Jiangxia.”

Dian Wei: ”Don’t worry Master Liu Ba, I will accomplish it according to the plan and have us all attack Jiangxia at the same time, Zhang Chao your army is the largest so you will become the Vanguard!”

Zhang Chao: ”Hah... Old Dian my army is the biggest because I have to guard two fronts, alright my army becomes the vanguard but you have to lead at the front alongside me since I heard Huang Zu’s son Huang Chao has great strength.”

Dian Wei who heard that nodded his head and promised to do that, as for his army he had Chen Deng to lead it from the rear, in his opinion Chen Deng should lead and direct the army, while he does the fighting and leading from the front alongside his men.

Since the strategy has been set up, everyone leaves the tent to prepare their men for tomorrow’s battle, and tonight’s dinner for the soldiers was more lavish than usual to raise their morale and give them enough energy for their battle tomorrow.

The next day, in front of Lujiang’s Eastern Gate, hundreds of thousands of soldiers lined up in formation, waiting for the order to march as Chen Deng and Zang Hong waited for the signal from Liu Ba who boarded the ships with the Qinglong Army.

While waiting, they heard the sound of fireworks exploding in the sky, which was the signal from Liu Ba, and with that, the Baihu and Xuanwu army were ordered to begin their march.

The attack on Liu Biao began with Huang Zhong and Lu Jun who were leading the Navy of Lie Clan and Lu Clan, attacked Huang Zu’s navy which was patrolling along the Yangtze River under Liu Biao’s domain.

The attack came fast and unexpectedly, and the Lie Clan’s navy began to show its power using the Hwacha and fire lance shooting toward Huang Zu’s navy, taking some of the ships out by surprise in the process.

Lu Clan’s navy was surprised and horrified by the weapon that was used by Lie Clan’s Navy because they had never seen something like it before, the attack was bloody and fast leaving no survivor as either the ship was set on fire or the marines were killed by arrows.

On the land side, Dian Wei and Zhang Chao both mounted a fast attack taking advantage of the element of surprise, where several small towns in the frontier of border managed to be taken down by them at a fast speed.

Some villages immediately surrendered when they saw such a large army on their doorstep, so in a matter of days the border between Lujiang Commandery and Jiangxia Commandery was conquered.

The news of the attack on Liu Biao’s Jiangxia, the whole land wasn’t truly surprised by the attack but the target which was Liu Biao, as this means a neutral party was finally dragged to enter the hegemony war for the unification of China.

When Huang Zu who was in Jiangxia received the news, he was surprised and then angered by the audacity of Lie Fan and his Army, because they chose to attack his domain which was under him for so long, long before Liu Biao became the Governor of Jing Province, so he felt that his reputation was tarnished so he ordered his navy to attack Lie Fan’s Navy and his army to go forward to show the might of Huang Zu’s Army and Navy to Lie Fan.
