Lu Bu wanted to take both of their heads and show his men the consequence of betraying him, but suddenly there up some blood and the blood was a black one, Lu Bu seeing the black blood knew that he was poisoned and likely due to the wound he revive before, while Chen Gong and his retainer immediately panicked when they saw this happened.

Lu Bu wiped the blood from his mouth with his sleeve, while Chen Gong and Zhang Liao arrived at Lu Bu’s side asking him if he was alright, Lu Bu waved his hand and said that he just gotten wounded from a surprise attack.

Chen Gong and Zhang Liao who heard this were surprised, as they knew that no one could creep up on Lu Bu with how sensitive his senses were, and Cheng Lian at this time explained to them what had transpired before.

Hearing what Cheng Lian had told them, Chen Gong and Zhang Liao then understood how Lu Bu could be wounded since his emotions controlled him and blocked his senses to detect the oncoming attack.

Hao Meng at this time told them all that he thought Lu Bu was poisoned because of the back blood Lu Bu threw up, and he was sure that the wounds that were inflicted by Lu Bu were using a poisoned blade since they knew they couldn’t kill Lu Bu with a normal method.

Hao Meng’s words immediately make sense to everyone, especially Chen Gong and Lu Bu who knew that he was poisoned and could only scold Hao Meng for saying unnecessary things.

Chen Gong thought that Hao Meng’s words made sense and the way Lu Bu scolded Hao Meng, Chen Gong was 100% sure that Lu Bu was postponed and immediately called for their Doctors to take a look at Lu Bu.

Hearing the panic in Chen Gong’s voice and the worried look on his face, Zhang Liao immediately felt that the situation had become much more dire and immediately escorted Lu Bu to a safe room alongside Cheng Lian and Hao Meng for Lu Bu to be checked by the doctor.

While Lu Bu was being checked by the doctor for the poison that was inflicted by the assailants, the words of Lu Bu being poisoned soon spread throughout his entire army alongside the need for Zhang Miao and Xu Si’s betrayal and beheaded as their punishment.

Their morale immediately hit rock bottom, Zhang Miao and Xu Si’s betrayal was already big news, and the rumor that Lu Bu had been poisoned immediately caused their will to fight since their spiritual leader was wounded and couldn’t lead them.

The news that Lu Bu was poisoned soon reached Cao Cao and Lie Fan’s desks respectively, Cao Cao got the information from his spies while Lie Fan received the news from the Oriole.

Cao Cao who read the news let out a loud laugh, attracting Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai’s attention as Cao Cao hadn’t let out a single smile since Lie Fan’s arrival let alone a loud laugh.

Guo Jia asked Cao Cao what happened that caused him to laugh so loud, Cao Cao then told the two of them the report he received from their spies and didn’t expect that Cao Cao had prepared such a deadly gift for Lu Bu.

Of course, things like this were frowned upon because of how deeply rooted Confucianism was taught during the Han Dynasty’s 500 year reign, but for them, this is not a problem even though they feel that Cao Cao managed to do something they had never thought before.

Guo Jia and Xi Zhicai praised Cao Cao for planning such a move, because now that Lu Bu’s morale had hit rock bottom with Zhang Miao and Xu Si’s betrayal and then combined with news of Lu Bu being poisoned would allow their next battle to become much easier.

On the other hand, in Lie Fan’s command tent, Lie Fan had called for all the advisors who followed him in this campaign and told everyone of the information he received from the Oriole inside Beihai.

Lie Fan: ”Everyone I have received news that Lu Bu was poisoned, and it was suspected that he got poisoned due to 4 unknown assailants attacking him from behind and that their blades were coated with poison.”

Xun You: ”Unknown Assailants? I think it was Cao Cao’s henchmen or spies that he sent to do the dirty work, knowing that they would never win the fight so he used poison to handle Lu Bu, a dirty but effective method he chose, I’m sure that Master Jia Xu will approve of this move Cao Cao has just made.”

Lu Zhi: ”As I uphold the teaching of Confucianism, I loathed Cao Cao for using such a dirty method, but as a Military General and advisor, this is an effective way to take down Beihai easily since they lose the strongest general they have.”

Zhuge Jin: ”Hmm the news of Lu Bu being poisoned must have spread among his men, their morale must have hit rock bottom and the next battle would be much easier for Cao Cao and Liu Bei.”

Lie Fan: ”That’s right what all of you just said makes sense, I admire Cao Cao for doing so because only the shameless and trickster could live in this era, the honorable ones without power would not live long, so what should we do with this news?”

Man Chong: ”My Lord I think we should let Lu Bu be poisoned, and let heaven decide his life will he continue to live or die poisoned or die in glory on the battlefield, since the way I see it Lu Bu will never bow down to your rule and will become a thorn My Lord.”

Lu Zhi: ”Isn’t that too extreme? Letting Lu Bu choose the way he will die and not curing him? I’m sure that if we cure him, Lu Bu will appreciate it and return the life saving favor because I’m sure the Oriole can cure him since Master Jia Xu taught them about poisons. ”

Xun You: ”Truthfully Master Lu Zhi, I think Lu Bu would not change his nature and still be himself, which was a time bomb for our Lord since we don’t know when he will decide to stab us in the back just like Liu Bei.”

Lie Fan was silent all the way while his advisors debated if they should save Lu Bu or not, he felt that what everyone said made sense, Lu Bu could change and serve him truthfully to relay the life saving grace, or he would stab him in the back becoming a ticking time bomb on his back.

While all of this is happening, from the North East side of Beihai, a small sized army is approaching Beihai and the one leading It is Gao Shun who managed to escape the small town in Lean County.

Gao Shun managed to escape by creating an illusion that he and his army were defeated and retreated inside the Prefect’s Castle, abandoning the Walls where Yu Jin and Sun Guan took the bait.

Then Gao Shun and his men hid inside civilian houses near the gate, and when Yu Jin with Sun Guan stormed in alongside their men heading toward the Prefect’s Castle, Gao Shun and his men left the small town bringing the supplies alongside them.

Of course outside the town, there are still some of Yu Jin and Sun Guan’s soldiers who haven’t entered the town, after fighting their way out they immediately head toward Beihai while being chased by some of Yu Jin and Sun Guan’s men before they decide to stop chasing Gao Shun and his men.

After escaping the town, with just a small amount of rest time, Gao Shun led his unit toward Beihai while also keeping Yu Jin and Sun Guan at a distance from him so that they couldn’t capture him.

Tired in body and mind, Gao Shun kept leading his unit until they reached Beihai, and seeing the condition Beihai in right now being surrounded by Cao Cao and Liu Bei’s encampment caused him to have a headache on how to get inside.

Fortunately, he remembers that Beihai has the Northern Gate which has low traffic due to it not being part of the main road, and Cao Cao and Liu Bei don’t put much of their forces there.

Gao Shun led his unit toward the Northern Gate where after resting for a bit, Gao Shun led the charge to storm Cao Cao and Liu Bei’s men, fighting their way through toward Beihai’s Northern Gate.

At Beihai’s Northern Gate, the one guarding it was Houc Cheng, and when he saw the commotion in Cao Cao and Liu Bei’s army encampment, he ordered his men to be alert in case they suddenly attacked.

Then he saw a unit break through the encampment with carriage and wagons, racing through the plains heading toward his location, and when he saw Gao Shun Hou Cheng immediately ordered for the gate to be opened.

Hou Cheng’s men opened the gate, allowing Gal Shun and his men to enter Beihai safely while Cao Cao and Liu Bei’s men stopped their pursuit seeing that they had managed to enter Beihai.

Inside Hou Cheng hugged Gao Shun as he had feared the worst for him, leading a small army and his unit to Lean County without any reinforcement and hadn’t returned for so long.

Gao Shun then explained to Hou Cheng what transpired, how he was surrounded by a small town and managed to escape, then raced toward Beihai with only ya short amount of rest time to escape Cao Cao and Liu Bei’s men’s pursuit.

Hou Cheng hearing the story had cold seat all over his face and his back, he didn’t expect that Gao Shu would experience such a hard time, and seeing the supplies he brought, Hou Chenh realized that Gao Shun had sacrificed many men for this supply to arrive safely.

After putting the supply at the warehouse and letting Gao Shun’s men take their rest, Hou Vheng alongside Gao Shun headed toward the room where Lu Bu was being medically treated.

Hou Cheng explained to Gao Shun what happened to Lu Bu on the way there, so when they arrived Gao Shun didn’t ask Lu Bu what happened to him but reported to Lu Bu that the assignment he had given to him had been completed.

Seeing Gao Shun have returned safe and sound, even completing the assignment he gave to him, Lu Bu stood up under the protest of the others and pat Gao Shun on the shoulder, thanking him for the service he had done and allowing him to take a rest, while at the same time ordered Chen Gong to hold a feast for his army to raise their morale tonight after knowing the rumor of him being poisoned have spread.
