The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

The Xugus Wizard stroked his chin. ”If it comes to a fight, you’re no match for me, Yi Si.”

「In the Cultivation Chamber.」

After its metamorphosis, Harak flew out through the skylight. Its feathers began to extend, growing longer and sleeker like a falcon, and it let out a low, guttural cackle.

As it dove, the core within its body—the Infinite Blood Core—selected another gene fragment.

In the blink of an eye, Harak’s body dissolved into a mass of pure black flesh, with budding tendrils writhing across its surface. Then, as if it were being sculpted, a Rainy Land Gliding Demon Frog appeared.

It spread its limbs, using its tail fin to glide. Just as it was about to crash into a large tree, the Infinite Blood Core activated another gene fragment, and Harak transformed into a Saw-toothed Tiger. Its sharp claws tore off a large swath of bark, allowing it to land steadily.

It then took a great leap, landing on the path to the Wizard’s Residence. It lowered its head, allowing the approaching figure in a black Wizard Robe to reach out with slender, pale fingers and stroke its fur.

Wang Ya was quite satisfied. Harak had become very proficient with the Infinite Blood Core. Changing its physical form was only the first part. The other part was to overload it by activating all of its gene fragments simultaneously.

Wang Ya had no clear idea what it would become. He only knew that using this ability would cause significant genetic damage to Harak.

If the transformation was held for too long, even the Infinite Genome would suffer damage, begin to fracture, and then collapse.

There was no question that if Harak absorbed and devoured a Wizard, it could transform into one, or at least a corresponding humanoid form.

Previously, Wang Ya had let Harak devour the two Night Moon Elves. He had no use for them at the moment, so it was more important to increase Harak’s Power for the upcoming Secret Realm competition.

When it transformed into a corresponding form, it could also use that form’s Extraordinary Traits. This was a fundamental difference in its developmental path compared to Gundas’ Dog.

Tiny flecks of blue lightning sparked in his pupils.

[Target: Harak]

[Spirit: 8]

[Physique: 30]

[Extraordinary Traits: Shadow Head, Flesh Melting Furnace, Defeated Black Eye, Infectious Deep Touch, Infinite Blood Core]

Its Physique value alone was high enough to withstand many Middle-tier Witchcraft attacks.

When it used the Infinite Blood Core to transform, the Extraordinary Traits inherent in the activated gene fragments would also provide Harak with various enhancements.

If it transformed into a Mountain Ape, its Defense Power and resistance would surely surpass 30.

Anticipation shone in Wang Ya’s eyes. ’In the Secret Realm competition, I will not lose to anyone.

No matter who the opponent is.’

「Dark Wizard Lower House.」

Numerous freshmen passed through the academy gardens to the familiar Freshman Square. In the center, a huge, transparent, rippling Light Gate had appeared, pulsing with spatial energy.

The Gusai Wizard stood on the high platform in the square, looking down at the Wizard Freshmen below. He was joined by several other figures, some of whom the freshmen recognized as the Teaching Wizards who had instructed them.

Wang Ya stood in the crowd, his gaze fixed on the powerful Wizards above. The Jialan Wizard and the Teaching Wizards for the four Extraordinary Disciplines were present, but he didn’t recognize the other faces.

He was most hoping to see the Teaching Wizard for Alchemy. Two and a half years had passed, the Secret Realm competition was starting, yet he hadn’t attended a single class or even caught a glimpse of the instructor.

’And I worked so hard to earn those fifty Magic Stones.’

This gathering of freshmen marked the beginning of the Secret Realm competition. The giant, rippling Light Gate was the entrance to the Small Secret Realm.
