The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

’Could it be an Extraordinary virus rather than Extraordinary cancer cells?’

’I can’t determine how this regenerative proliferation works. Does it infect and replace the host’s cells, or does it simply steal nutrients from the flesh to replicate itself?’

’Just thinking about it is useless. I need to experiment. Once I have a method, the process should be quick, and I’ll have enough time to finish it.’

His progress with Witchcraft, on the other hand, was going smoothly. If he kept at it, he’d be able to test the two Middle-tier Witchcrafts in a month.

The subsequent refinement plan would also have to be moved up. His progress in his Extraordinary Discipline and the Vast Sea Meditation Method was steady and without issue.

The equipment in his current lab couldn’t handle more microscopic experiments. It was, after all, just the free, standard-issue laboratory.

Proper Wizard Instruments were much more advanced. Wizards carried their personal sets with them, maintaining them constantly, and they were of an extremely high grade.

There were many ways to acquire them, such as the Black Water Trading House in the Free Zone or through an exchange with the headquarters in the Business District. But without a doubt, the prices were all exorbitant.

It was impossible for a Lower House Wizard to afford such things. Members of Wizard Clans, on the other hand, could purchase them with their clan’s support.

Some even possessed these kinds of Wizard Instruments from the start and had no need to purchase them.

Wang Ya felt a pang of envy. The new arrivals from Wizard Clans didn’t have to worry about so many things; their families had already prepared everything for them in advance.

Unlike him, who had to painstakingly acquire everything he wanted on his own.

Of course, the price for this was that these newcomers were bound to their clans and could never truly break free, forever needing to contribute to their family’s interests.

These were the ties of relations, kinship, responsibility, and a sense of belonging.

Wang Ya’s eyes glinted. ’If I rely on Magic Stones alone, it’s completely impossible to afford them.’

’But there is another way to get them...’

...

In the Dark Library, Wang Ya went straight to the mission management office located in the deepest part of the first floor.

Wade was standing at the entrance, apparently waiting for him. He gave Wang Ya a nod and then led the way inside.

Wang Ya had already informed Kelan Wizard of his request via his Wizard Mark, and she had agreed.

The solution he’d come up with was to purchase the instruments through Kelan Wizard’s channels. As for the cost in Magic Stones, he still had a large number of Dark Points. Exchanging Dark Points for Magic Stones would be a significant loss, as the rate was one to ten, but he had no other choice.

The rate for exchanging Magic Stones into Dark Points was the same, and it was nearly impossible to find a Wizard willing to make that trade.

Two thousand Dark Points were equivalent to twenty thousand Magic Stones, which was enough for Wang Ya to purchase several high-grade Wizard Instruments that met his needs.

He met with Kelan Wizard in a private room. She was dressed in her usual androgynous style. Her voice was cool and detached, but her expression was one of surprise. ”You have a request like this? That’s rather unexpected. These kinds of Wizard Instruments aren’t something you can handle at your current level.”

”At the very least, only a veteran Level 2 Wizard Apprentice, someone capable of conducting difficult Wizard Experiments on their own, would choose instruments like these.”

Although Kelan Wizard was curious, she didn’t ask for Wang Ya’s reasoning. She readily agreed to his request to exchange his Dark Points for Magic Stones and purchase the necessary Wizard Instruments on his behalf.

In a way, she was even getting the better end of the deal. Dark Points were far more difficult to obtain than Magic Stones and were extremely hard to accumulate.

”I almost forgot you were a tycoon. You might have even more Dark Points than I do.” A faint smile touched Kelan Wizard’s otherwise cool features.

Wang Ya paused for a moment. ’Is she teasing me? Joking with me...?’

’But still, why does this feel a little strange?’

He had a persistent feeling that the way Kelan Wizard looked at him, her entire attitude toward him, had changed somehow.

”Oh, right. That Sheepskin Scroll I gave you last time—have you learned the Witchcraft recorded on it yet?” Kelan Wizard tucked a strand of gray hair back, her long eyelashes framing an expectant gaze.

Wang Ya: ”...”

Wang Ya felt even more weirded out, and a little nervous for some reason. ’This... there’s something really off about Kelan Wizard right now.’
