The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

She came and went in a flash!

In the end, Wang Ya couldn’t contain his curiosity. He opened the Hollow Long Tube and pulled out a rolled-up yellow Sheepskin Scroll.

Its texture was superb; it would have no problem being used to create a Middle-tier Witchcraft Scroll.

It was covered with a great deal of information, but more importantly, it was a voucher that could be taken to the Wizard Bank to collect three thousand Magic Stones.

Most importantly, the lower half of the Sheepskin Scroll was covered in dense, tiny characters—a practical application of Wizard Runes that recorded a special Witchcraft.

It was named [Eye of Dreams].

...

Wang Ya went ahead and sold the two Wizard’s Rings, along with other miscellaneous Extraordinary items, earning a total of two hundred Magic Stones.

He then went to the Wizard Bank and used the voucher to transfer the three thousand Magic Stones to his Wizard Card.

Standing at the entrance of the Wizard Bank, Wang Ya still looked a bit dazed. He’d just obtained a huge sum of three thousand Magic Stones, just like that.

’It’s real!’

He didn’t quite understand why Kelan Wizard would do this. The Sheepskin Scroll contained a message from her.

She had essentially stated that she thought Wang Ya had high potential and wanted to offer some support, hoping he could achieve a good ranking in the Secret Realm competition.

Ideally, he would place in the top three and secure a spot as a Child of the Dark.

If he had trouble mastering the Witchcraft on the Sheepskin Scroll, he could communicate with her through his Wizard Mark.

Once he learned the [Eye of Dreams] Witchcraft, she would provide him with a new, related Witchcraft.

If this were an investment and support package like the one from Wizard Yi Si, Wang Ya wouldn’t have been so puzzled.

The key was that this Sheepskin Scroll showed no trace of a Wizard Contract. It was like being handed an IOU written in invisible ink while a pile of cash was dumped on him.

Back at his Wizard’s Residence, Wang Ya was still thinking about it, subconsciously fiddling with his Wizard Card.

Finally, he decided to stop thinking about it.

’The Magic Stones are real, the Witchcraft is real... I’m just a lowly Wizard Freshman. What could an Extreme Wizard Apprentice like Kelan Wizard possibly want from me?’

’Since her goal is for me to place in the top three of the Secret Realm competition by increasing my own Power, then I’ll do exactly as she wishes.’

Wang Ya decided to refuse Wizard Yi Si’s investment and support. Accepting the sponsorship of one Extreme Wizard Apprentice was more than enough.

Accepting both would be disrespectful to each of them, and he would end up pleasing neither. It was better to refuse one of them early on.

Besides, he had his own plans. The study of subsequent Advanced Witchcraft was already scheduled.

Accepting Wizard Yi Si’s support, under the constraints of a Wizard Contract, would have meant he was destined to learn those White Bone Witchcraft techniques.

The goal was simply to promote the White Bone Lineage in the Secret Realm competition and suppress the arrogance of the Wizard Family Alliance.

As for joining the White Bone Lineage and becoming an Official Wizard’s disciple, all of that was contingent on placing in the top three of the Secret Realm competition first.

Wang Ya walked straight into his laboratory. Harak had already darted off into the forest to tease the poor, pathetic beasts.

He checked on the state of the Gundas’ Dogs and nodded to himself. Their recovery was progressing well. The fleshy buds on their foreheads had already formed into human facial features, and a huge, fleshy eyeball was pressed against the wall of one tank, staring intently at Wang Ya’s figure.

With its ravenous appetite and the gradually released mental influence, an ordinary person would have gone mad long ago just by being here.

The canine body swam continuously in the nutrient fluid of the cultivation tank. There were signs of impact on the lid and walls, but the high-strength material was not something the Gundas’ Dog could break.

Now that they had lost their hosts, the mental influence they released, even from thirteen Gundas’ Dogs combined, could no longer affect the current Wang Ya.

On the contrary, when Wang Ya used the ’Sensory Deprivation’ Witchcraft, the fleshy facial features and eyeballs that had formed on their heads burst and disintegrated.

Large amounts of bloody filaments and flesh buds lost their vitality, slowly sinking to the bottom of the nutrient tank.

Seeing this, Wang Ya frowned. He took a small notebook from his pocket, and with a flick of his sleeve, a feather pen dropped into his waiting hand, and he began to write.

Suddenly, he stopped writing. He stared in astonishment at the fallen flesh buds in the nutrient solution. They were actually beginning to regain their activity, regenerating their Vitality.

”Incredible. Perhaps I’ve discovered one of its traits... one of the secrets hidden within the Gundas’ Dog, or even the Evil God’s Heart.”

Wang Ya stared blankly at the cultivation tank, muttering to himself. When he snapped out of it, he was immediately struck by a burst of inspiration and began to write furiously.

[Gundas’ Dog Experimental Notes]

[Details: Bold hypothesis—perhaps the reason the Gundas’ Dog, and by extension the Evil God’s Heart, is so full of vitality is that every piece of flesh, every strand of tissue, and even every drop of blood contains its own unique Extraordinary core. This allows it to be self-sustaining, forming a primary body that can devour and then regenerate.]

[Status: Unconfirmed]

[Proposed Experiment: Extract tissue from Harak and mix it with a tissue sample from a Gundas’ Dog. Observe the fusion process and the difference in their rates of erosion.]

[Provisional Name: ’Core of Death’ experiment, pending.]

Wang Ya closed the notebook, a flush of excitement coloring his face. If his own relevant skills weren’t so lacking, he would have wanted to attempt the experiment right away.

The unknowns involved made him incredibly curious.

With a fanatical gaze, he stared intently at each and every Gundas’ Dog in the cultivation tanks. The corners of his mouth curved sharply upward, revealing neat, white teeth, but his smile held a sinister chill.
