The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

The Bailin Clan and the Purple Gold Flower Clan were also completely buried in the dust of history.

Wang Ya purchased the continuation of the Vast Sea Meditation Method from Gusai Wizard. It contained a total of twelve Wizard Runes, three more than the Basic Meditation Method.

Wang Ya and Gusai Wizard parted ways at the gates of the Dark Wizard Academy. Wind Wizard and Lando Wizard had already left back at the Commercial Street.

As expected, the contact information of three more Wizards had been added to his Wizard Mark.

Probably none of the other first-years in the Lower House would believe that he had contact information for so many Upper Court Wizards.

”The balance between illusion and reality is not a level you can touch yet. Even if you have some ideas of your own, don’t delve too deeply into them,” Gusai Wizard reminded Wang Ya as he left.

”I understand, Master Wizard.”

Wang Ya had a clear understanding of his own position. The connections in his Wizard Mark and the goodwill shown by these Wizards were all because they saw greater value in him.

’The correct course of action is to realize that value, or even increase it, by improving my power and my foundational knowledge. Getting complacent and carried away would be the most foolish thing to do.’

Gusai Wizard also had an Extraordinary School backing him. During their conversation, Wang Ya had learned that he was a rare Elemental Wizard from the Divine Blood Lineage.

Hades’ Store

A wind chime tinkled, its crisp, pleasant sound alerting the figure working inside, who quickly trotted out.

”Welcome! What can I help you with today?”

Mona froze for a moment. The black Wizard Robe, the familiar fair and handsome features, and that unforgettable beauty mark under his eye... A smile appeared on her face. ”Wang Ya, you haven’t been here in so long.”

”Lately, our fellow first-years in the Lower House have all been going their separate ways. We’re not as close as we used to be... More and more people are going down the wrong path, signing Wizard Contracts and selling their own bodies... Or losing their dignity, running off to serve the first-years from the Wizard Clans, letting themselves be ordered around...”

Mona led Wang Ya deeper into Hades’ Store, and the two of them chatted intermittently as they walked.

”I haven’t heard from Gray or Mas recently, either. I don’t know what they’re doing. Maybe they’re still taking on Wizard Tasks...”

Wang Ya listened quietly. They had arrived at the section selling Extraordinary Resources used to aid Meditation and increase Spiritual Power.

”So, Wang Ya, what have you been up to?” Mona continued the conversation.

”The same as you all. Preparing for the Secret Realm competition in two years, earning Magic Stones, and increasing my power.” Wang Ya’s gaze swept over the display cabinets in the area.

Through the glass, he could see all sorts of bottles and jars, each a different color. Even their viscosity varied; some were so thick they had solidified into a single block.

Beneath the cabinets were placards with information, detailing the names and effects of these Extraordinary Potions.

Mona said with a sigh, ”You’re right. The ultimate goal for every first-year in the Lower House is the Secret Realm competition two years from now. If you can get a good ranking and put on an outstanding performance, the Upper Court Wizards and Extraordinary Schools might see your value. You could even get their support. Your Wizard Path afterward might not be smooth sailing, but at least you’d avoid a lot of detours.”

[Night Demon Potion]

[Effect: Increases Spiritual Power Value by a certain amount.]

[Side Effect: Endure 24 hours of tearing pain. You must remain conscious, or you will be affected by the Extraordinary Potion, causing your body to mutate, become corrupted, and develop the characteristics of a Southern Angler Night Demon.]

[Selling Price: 100 Magic Stones]

Information about the Southern Angler Night Demon automatically surfaced in Wang Ya’s mind.

[Name: Southern Angler Red Flame Butterfly. Phylum: Hidden Limb Hexapod; Subphylum: Scale-Colored Six-Legged; Class: Abdominal Scale; Subclass: Hidden Outline; Order: Scale-Colored Wing; Family: Flower-Robbing.]

It is distributed throughout the South Anger Small Secret Realm and is a product exclusive to the Dark Land. It is an extremely unique Extraordinary Creature, small in appearance, with special red scale powder on its wings that can reflect moonlight and has the effect of confusing one’s Spiritual Power.

Wang Ya didn’t dwell on it, because more related information would have continued to surface in his mind: the Red Flame Butterfly’s habitat, the differences between its larval and adult stages, its habits, diet, and natural predators... The Dark Land has a long history and has thoroughly exploited almost all of its Secret Realm resources.

This Red Flame Butterfly alone was used as a raw material in more than ten different Extraordinary Potions.

It could even serve as a neutralizing agent in the Alchemy of Witchcraft Artifacts.

The Night Demon Potion was a special potion made primarily from the Red Flame Butterfly. The amount of Spiritual Power it increased depended on the Wizard who consumed it.

It also had a tolerance effect; after about three doses, it would completely lose its effectiveness.

In the next two years, Wang Ya had to increase his power as much as possible.

Extraordinary Spiritual Power and Particle Energy Units were the strict prerequisites for casting Witchcraft, so Wang Ya prioritized them above all else.

”I’ll take three Night Demon Potions, two Clear Heart Potions, two Dawn Elixirs, one Grief Potion, and one Potion of Despair.”

Wang Ya was really splurging this time. The total cost of the potions already exceeded six hundred Magic Stones.

The Extraordinary Potions he chose were almost all related to increasing Spiritual Power, with the exception of ones like the Clear Heart Potion, which were meant to assist with outlining during Meditation.
