Wei Yang smiled.

Xian’er’s action proved that she had already successfully figured out, or even reverse-engineered, a complete pill recipe.

Otherwise, she wouldn’t have dared to attempt refining all six medicinal ingredients at once.

To Wei Yang, this wasn’t difficult at all.

Just a glance at the recipe was enough for him to understand the logic behind it. He could even slightly improve it based on his own methods.

After all, it was merely a Tier 2 pill recipe. And among Tier 2 recipes, it was one of the simpler ones. How difficult could it be?

The fact that Xian’er had achieved this step in such a short period of time was already quite impressive.

Beyond solid fundamentals and a sufficient reserve of knowledge, she possessed something even more valuable—creativity and spirituality.

The latter, without a doubt, was what Wei Yang most hoped to see and valued deeply. That was why he smiled.

He was truly happy.

Time, accumulation, foundation, experience—those weren’t particularly important.

Any alchemist, given enough time and a detailed inheritance, could achieve that.

But that kind of creativity and spirituality—that was the rarest and most precious quality.

Just like how students under the same nine-year compulsory education, taught by the same teacher, still turn out vastly different in ability.

Or how writers with the same knowledge base could write on the same topic and still produce works that were worlds apart in quality.

To Wei Yang, who knew Xian’er inside and out, a single glance was enough to discern her general concept and line of thinking. He could even guess roughly seventy to eighty percent of her upcoming steps.

From her, he could vaguely see a hint of that same kind of spirituality he had once seen in Xiao Yan.

Of course, Wei Yang himself also possessed that kind of spirituality.

...

As for the fire control technique and method Xian’er used, it was naturally the latest version Wei Yang had personally refined.

Evolved from the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique, it was now called the Ten Directions Fire Control Art.

That didn’t necessarily mean the Ten Directions Fire Control Art was superior to the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique.

After all, when paired with the Nine Dragon Lightning Flame, the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique could rival Quasi-Heaven Grade dou techniques.

It was already near perfection.

Wei Yang simply felt that the improved Ten Directions Fire Control Art suited his personal habits and refining style better—nothing more than that.

It was related to personal style and technique, not the inherent quality of the fire control art itself.

Because the time had been short—only a few days—Xian’er had only managed to grasp about thirty percent of it.

Fortunately, she already had a solid foundation in the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique, allowing her to pick up the Ten Directions Fire Control Art quickly.

...

”Brat Wei, that fire control technique the girl is using?!” Yao Lao’s voice suddenly rang in Wei Yang’s ear, full of astonishment—and even shock.

”Senior finds it familiar?” Wei Yang responded with a smile. ”It’s called the Ten Directions Fire Control Art, and its predecessor is indeed the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique. I simply made some small improvements based on it—tweaked it to better fit my own style. I hope it didn’t make you laugh.”

”You said... improved?!” Yao Lao exclaimed, his voice turning sharp and distorted.

This was the first time Wei Yang had seen Yao Lao lose composure like that—there was even a trace of panic and disbelief in his tone.

”What’s wrong, Senior?” Wei Yang asked with confusion. ”I only made some minor modifications on top of the original technique. Is there something wrong with it, or perhaps a flaw?”

By the end of his sentence, Wei Yang’s tone had turned serious. He sat up slightly straighter, ready to accept criticism or guidance at any moment.

”You...” Yao Lao was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to respond.

Improved the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique?

And you’re calling it ’just’ an improvement?

Why not just go straight to the heavens and stand shoulder to shoulder with the sun?!

Do you even realize what that technique is? That’s a High-Level Earth Grade technique!

High-Level Earth Grade!!!

When paired with the Nine Dragon Lightning Flame, its power could soar to the level of a Quasi-Heaven Grade technique!

Quasi-Heaven Grade!

Do you understand what that means?

Anything that could even be mentioned in the same breath as Heaven Grade meant it was already approaching the realm of perfection.

Yet you—just a twenty-one-year-old kid, a Tier Six Alchemist, and a One-Star Dou Huang at that...

And you’re telling me—you improved the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique?

Turned it into something more suited to your own style? More convenient to use?

And you call it ”just” a minor improvement?

Just?!

Who gave you the right?!

Is it really something so casual?

Damn it.

Yao Lao felt like he was on the verge of a mental breakdown.

This kind of thing—this kind of feat—was simply too outrageous!

No, it was absurd!

So absurd that no one would believe it if you said it out loud.

Not to mention Wei Yang, just a mere Dou Huang, a Tier 6 Alchemist—even Yao Lao himself didn’t have the ability to do such a thing.

Improve a Quasi-Heaven Grade technique?

Are you kidding me?

A High-Level Earth Grade, even close to Heaven Grade—those things...

Every one of them was the culmination of a high-level Dou Zun, or even a Ban Sheng expert, who spent a lifetime of effort, countless years of research and refinement, just to create.

And you?

You just picked it up and improved it?

If High-Level Earth Grade or Quasi-Heaven Grade techniques were really that simple, then the Dou Qi Continent would be flooded with them by now.

Yao Lao didn’t want to speak anymore. He just wanted to sit in silence.

It was too absurd.

He couldn’t process it.

He even started to doubt life itself.

...

”Teacher, is there something wrong? Or a mistake?” Wei Yang asked anxiously when he saw Yao Lao remain silent for a long time.

He even used the title ”Teacher.”

That was already him humbling himself completely, sincerely asking for guidance like a proper student.

He was panicking a little.

After all, no matter what, this was still a top-tier fire control technique—the Nine Dragons Fire Control Technique. He was afraid he’d gone down the wrong path... or taken too big a step and ended up pulling a muscle.

”...” Yao Lao.

The longer Yao Lao stayed quiet, the more anxious Wei Yang became.

”Teacher...” Wei Yang called again. ”Please say something!”

A long moment passed.

Finally, Yao Lao’s voice echoed faintly, laced with an odd tone. ”You’re not wrong. There’s nothing wrong. Just keep going along the path you’ve chosen... As long as you don’t fall, your future achievements will be extraordinary.”

Of course you’re not wrong.

The one who’s wrong is me. It’s this whole damn world.

Why is the gap between people so huge?

Turns out, sometimes, hard work really isn’t worth a damn in the face of pure talent.

Just like Xiao Yan.

And now this kid was even more outrageous!

So young—barely a One-Star Da Dou Shi—yet he dared to attempt Flame Fusion, and even managed to create that terrifying Fire Lotus, nearly blowing himself to pieces.

Compared to these two brats, Yao Lao felt like he had lived all these years for nothing.

Yet at the same time, he also felt relieved.

He didn’t harbor selfish thoughts about correcting or restricting them. Instead, he chose to encourage them, to let things develop naturally, and allow them to explore freely.

With such terrifying creativity and spiritual insight, why would he interfere or suppress it?

If he were to impose the wrong kind of guidance, he would only shackle their thinking, and waste their innate creativity.

Just because you can’t do it, doesn’t mean others can’t.

Many great creations in history were born from just a fleeting moment of inspiration.

Yao Lao understood this well.

Acting rashly to interfere would only hinder them, and ultimately harm them.

Of course he would never do that—because that would be an incredibly selfish act.
