**

Amidst countless terrified gazes, the Black Sun exploded!

BOOM!!!

A massive explosion erupted!

It was like the detonation of a supernova.

Terrifying power burst forth, surging entirely toward the center where everything had been converging. That region of space, visibly to the naked eye, was distorting and collapsing in utter chaos!

Everything within it seemed to cease to exist.

With the eruption of the massive blast—

First came an even more blinding black light, forcing all those still holding on to instinctively shut their eyes, turn away, and tear up.

Next came the deafening roar of the explosion.

BOOM~~

Like muffled thunder crashing beside one’s ears.

Other than that earth-shattering sound, no other noises could be heard.

The entire imperial capital seemed to tremble slightly under the force of that explosive roar.

High in the sky, the void shattered. It was as if the very heavens had been pierced, leaving behind a black hole-like void. The surrounding white clouds were dispersed completely, leaving only a raging sea of black flames churning madly and sweeping across the sky.

The scorching heat engulfed the entire firmament, and the temperature across the capital city beneath it began to rise drastically.

It felt as though one had suddenly been thrust into a scorching desert.

Thankfully, the explosion occurred high in the sky. Though it affected the capital, it had not caused any truly catastrophic consequences.

It could barely be called a false alarm.

...

Only after a long while did the violent shockwaves begin to subside.

The shattered space began rapidly repairing itself and was soon restored to normal.

The sky was now clear, devoid of a single cloud, a vast expanse of deep blue like a polished mirror.

In the courtyard—

Wei Yang’s right hand trembled slightly. Within his palm was a patch of deep red, with faint traces of blood slowly seeping out.

Sensing that his Dou Qi had been drained by more than half, and with a soul that felt noticeably fatigued, he couldn’t help but smile wryly. ”That really was over the top!”

Earlier, Wei Yang had followed a flash of inspiration that suddenly emerged in his mind. His entire focus was unintentionally drawn into it, and in doing so, he failed to consciously regulate the power. Instead, he had poured energy into it like mad—ultimately leading to a loss of control and nearly suffering backlash.

Though he had thrown it out in time—

The resulting aftermath was definitely not a welcome surprise for the citizens of the capital today.

Who knew how many people’s eyes were injured by the light? Or how many people’s ears were still ringing from the shock?

But soon after, a surge of joy welled up in Wei Yang’s heart.

This move... was strong!

Its power was terrifying.

In the future, it could absolutely serve as his trump card and hidden ace.

...

At that moment—

”May I ask which mighty expert has descended upon our Jia Ma Sacred City? Please show yourself!” An aged voice reverberated across heaven and earth.

Immediately after, a dozen figures soared into the sky from various directions of the capital, their powerful auras erupting as Dou Qi wings of all colors unfurled behind them.

Even within the Alchemist Association, several figures swiftly flew out.

Among them were President Fa Ma and Vice President Qie Mi Er.

There was also a graceful figure in white robes with snow-white hair who rose into the sky—

It was Xian’er.

Early that morning, she had been beaming with joy, dragging Qing Lin around the Association’s market area for shopping and treasure hunting.

But now, her face was clearly laced with tension and worry. Obviously, she recognized the origin of the black flames and believed Wei Yang had encountered a formidable enemy.

Meanwhile, another dainty figure clad in pale cyan rapidly shot toward the courtyard where Wei Yang was. From within her sleeve, three distinct energy signatures surged faintly.

”Ugh.” Seeing this, Wei Yang smiled bitterly. ”How should I explain this?”

But then he muttered, ”Explain? Why should I explain? I don’t know anything. I didn’t do a thing...”

With a flash, he returned to the eaves of the house and calmly sat down.

He picked up his teacup and took a small sip.

Let’s just chalk this up as a misunderstanding.

How could the great Master Wei be at fault while peacefully enjoying tea in his courtyard?

”Young Master!” Qing Lin’s petite figure dashed into the courtyard, calling out in worry, ”Are you alright?”

She then saw Wei Yang leisurely sipping tea while sitting cross-legged, and froze.

”Qing Lin, calm down. Don’t panic,” Wei Yang put down the cup and winked at her. ”What could possibly happen to me?”

Upon seeing this, Qing Lin’s eyes twinkled with understanding. She gently patted her chest in relief.

She let out a soft breath and looked up at the sky. Seeing all the experts in the capital still on high alert above, she couldn’t help but find it both funny and annoying.

She covered her mouth, giggling quietly as she stepped forward and knelt obediently to pour tea for Wei Yang.

”You’re so bad, Young Master,” she whispered, eyes narrowing with amusement.

”Shhh.” Wei Yang ruffled her hair.

Soon after—

Swoosh!

Xian’er’s figure quickly descended into the courtyard.

When she saw Wei Yang, she instantly guessed what had happened and gave him a playful glare, letting out a quiet sigh of relief.

So it really was a false alarm.

Wei Yang gave her a silent, sheepish smile and made a ”shush” gesture.

Xian’er pouted, walked over with a slightly annoyed expression, and sat down beside him. She raised her hand and lightly tapped him. ”Why such a huge commotion all of a sudden?”

”Hehe, just testing out a new move. Lost control for a moment,” Wei Yang whispered.

”A new move?” Xian’er’s curiosity was piqued.

”I’ll explain tonight.” Wei Yang gave her a mysterious smile.

Xian’er, however, misunderstood something. Her cheeks flushed red, and she lowered her head, saying nothing. She hurriedly took a sip of tea to hide her embarrassment.

...

Not long after—

Swoosh! Swoosh!

President Fa Ma and Vice President Qie Mi Er also landed.

”Wei Yang, do you know what that was just now?” They smiled and greeted him before asking casually.

”No idea. I was startled too,” Wei Yang shook his head, frowning, his expression serious.

”Perhaps a passing expert,” President Fa Ma stroked his beard in thought.

”Hmm, that’s possible,” Qie Mi Er nodded. ”None of the nearby empires have reported experts of such caliber.”

”If they won’t show themselves, they’ve likely already left.” Fa Ma shook his head, no longer concerned.

After chatting a bit more, the two left.

Xian’er and Qing Lin, too, sat for a while before continuing their shopping spree in the association’s marketplace.

For two young women, that treasure-hunting area was still fresh and exciting.

Whether or not they bought anything, they definitely had to go look around.

Wei Yang was left alone in the courtyard. He raised his right hand, looking at his now fully healed palm, no longer bleeding, and silently contemplated the new technique—pondering any areas for improvement.

But his thoughts didn’t last long.

From outside the courtyard came a pleasant, familiar female voice.

”Mister Wei, it’s Ya Fei.”

Interrupted, Wei Yang frowned slightly, then sighed and composed himself.

”Come in,” he said softly.

Creak—

The courtyard door opened.

With light footsteps, three graceful female figures entered.

They stood in the courtyard and bowed.

”Greetings, Mister Wei.” The three women greeted him in unison.

Wei Yang looked up.

Ya Fei needed no introduction—an old acquaintance.

But the other two delicate ladies, clearly sisters, surprised him.

Beauties of their caliber couldn’t possibly be unknown in the capital.

Then it struck him. He roughly guessed their identities and purpose.

Sure enough, Ya Fei stepped aside and smiled. ”Mister Wei, these two are princesses of the imperial family.”

”Yao Ye and Zi Yue of the Jia Ma Imperial Family, paying respects to Master Wei.” The elder and younger princesses bowed again respectfully.

”Mhm.” Wei Yang casually raised his hand, motioning for them to dispense with formalities. ”You’ve come for the Dou Spirit Pill?”

”Yes.” Ya Fei nodded and glanced at Yao Ye.

Yao Ye stepped forward and, with a wave of her hand, numerous jade bottles and boxes landed neatly on the table before Wei Yang.

”Mister Wei, these are the materials for three Dou Spirit Pills, along with the three Tier 4 Soul-Nurturing Lotuses you requested,” she said softly.

Wei Yang scanned them briefly with his senses and confirmed everything. He nodded.

With a flick of his hand—

Swoosh!

A small transparent jade bottle floated before Yao Ye.

”The Dou Spirit Pill!” The three women’s eyes lit up.

”Thank you, Mister Wei.” Yao Ye respectfully accepted the bottle without even opening it and smiled.

”Thank you, Mister Wei.” The younger princess Zi Yue also bowed sweetly, her big eyes blinking mischievously.

”This is a transaction. No need for such formality. If there’s nothing else, you may leave. I have things to attend to,” Wei Yang said as he lifted his teacup.

”Uh...” The three women’s smiles stiffened slightly, caught off guard.

Little Princess Zi Yue even pouted in dissatisfaction.

Ya Fei glanced at Wei Yang’s calm expression, then subtly looked at the two princesses—and suddenly, it all made sense.

She sneered silently to herself.

So, the imperial family sent both princesses with that intent, huh?

A pair of sisters, each with their own charm—one mature and icy, the other innocent and sweet. Anyone with a brain could see through it.
