”Of course, because of Mr. Wei, I’ll definitely give you a discount. But the final price will still be slightly higher than usual,” Ya Fei glanced at Wei Yang and explained.

”No problem,” Xian’er nodded directly.

Hearing that, the smile on Ya Fei’s pretty face grew even warmer. She pointed at a few items on the list and said with a gentle smile, ”These, these, these... and this one, are currently out of stock at our auction house.”

”The rest, if I remember correctly, we do have them.”

Seeing those few crossed-off herbs, Xian’er actually let out a sigh of relief and smiled.

Because the herbs crossed out were all auxiliary ingredients, while the main ingredients were all available.

”There are a total of six herbs here. The total cost is 280,000 gold coins. Mr. Wei, this is the best discount I can give you with my current authority,” Ya Fei said to Wei Yang with a smile.

”Mm,” Wei Yang nodded and smiled.

In his heart, he didn’t really care. Whether there was a discount or not didn’t matter much to him.

He honestly didn’t care about twenty or thirty thousand gold coins.

”If I weren’t worried about Mr. Wei getting upset, I could’ve just applied to my clan to waive the fee entirely for you...” Ya Fei suggested tentatively.

”No need. A transaction is a transaction. Buying something and paying for it is only natural. If you try to give me free stuff, I won’t buy anything from you again,” Wei Yang interrupted her calmly.

”I knew Mr. Wei would be upset, so I didn’t go through with it,” Ya Fei shrugged.

She had dealt with Wei Yang more than once before, so she knew his temperament well.

”Free things are often the most expensive. There’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world,” Wei Yang said as he glanced at Qing Lin.

Qing Lin understood immediately and took out a storage ring from a small pouch at her waist, placing it on the table.

In their small group, Xian’er usually managed the herbs, while Qing Lin was in charge of the finances.

Xian’er had a deep love for medicinal ingredients and was a little herb fanatic.

Whereas Qing Lin had a fondness for shiny gold, a bit of a money-lover.

”Free things are often the most expensive, huh?” Ya Fei murmured, then smiled brightly and clapped her hands. ”Mr. Wei, well said!”

”Please wait a moment,” Ya Fei said, picking up the ring and the list. Without even checking it, she turned and walked out.

...

Thump—

With a soft click, the door to the VIP room closed.

Inside, only the three of them remained.

Xian’er reached out and pinched a bit of soft flesh on Wei Yang’s waist, giving it a twist.

Wei Yang sucked in a sharp breath, his face full of a wry smile. He said softly, ”Xian’er, listen to me, there’s really nothing going on between me and her. She used to be very decisive and shrewd—I don’t know what’s gotten into her today.”

”Hmph,” Xian’er glanced at him coolly and let go. ”I thought you were falling for her looks.”

”No, no, not at all,” Wei Yang waved his hands hastily.

Pfft~

Off to the side, Qing Lin covered her mouth and giggled.

Xian’er gently massaged the spot she had just pinched, having only acted out of a woman’s instinctive sensitivity—she hadn’t really thought much of it.

After all, Ya Fei was just a small Dou Zhe, not a threat.

They lived in different worlds.

Even if Wei Yang couldn’t resist temptation and slipped up occasionally, as long as he didn’t go too far, Xian’er wouldn’t really mind. She would just turn a blind eye.

After all, men... well, they had their little indulgences.

As long as his heart didn’t stray, and he wiped his mouth clean and came home like nothing happened, she wouldn’t fuss over it.

...

A moment later—

Creaaak—

The door opened again.

Ya Fei walked back in from outside.

She placed the ring back on the table and smiled at Xian’er. ”Miss Ye, the remaining gold coins and your purchased herbs are all inside. Please take a look.”

”Mm,” Xian’er took the ring and scanned it with her spiritual sense. After confirming everything, she nodded in satisfaction and put it away.

”By the way, does your auction house have any soul-recovery herbs? Any grade will do,” Wei Yang asked.

”Mr. Wei, are you looking for soul-recovery herbs too?” Ya Fei looked a bit surprised.

”Too?” Wei Yang was briefly stunned before coming to a sudden realization.

It seemed that Xiao Yan and his master, Yao Lao, had already been here.

”Yes, a friend came asking for the same thing a few days ago,” Ya Fei nodded, then apologized, ”Sorry, Mr. Wei, our auction house currently doesn’t have that herb.”

”Not even a single Tier 4 Soul-Nourishing Lotus?” Wei Yang frowned.

They had searched all the way from the desert.

They’d passed through at least a dozen or more cities, yet hadn’t managed to find a single Tier 4 Soul-Nourishing Lotus.

”I’m truly sorry.” Ya Fei shook her head regretfully, though her eyes quietly flickered.

”Forget it.” Wei Yang sighed and stood up.

Medicines that could restore the soul were always rare, things that had a price but no market.

The damage to Du Jiao’s soul would have to wait.

”Let’s go,” Wei Yang said.

”Mm.” Xian’er and Qing Lin also stood up.

”Mr. Wei is leaving so soon?” Ya Fei quickly got up, her gaze carrying a hint of coy grievance.

”We still have things to do.” Wei Yang, seeing this, didn’t look back and simply walked away.

Damn it, this woman is trying to trap me again.

If I can’t get into bed tonight, will you take responsibility?

”Mr. Wei, you’ve come to the imperial capital, but don’t have a place to stay yet, right?”

Ya Fei walked alongside them as she saw them off, saying, ”How about I arrange a quiet residence for you, Mr. Wei?”

”No need, forget it. We already have a place to stay.” Wei Yang shook his head and refused.

”Mr. Wei must be staying in an inn, right?” Ya Fei was persistent. She quickly added, ”You’re an honored guest of our auction house. If the clan finds out that you came to the imperial capital and are staying at an inn, and I knew but did nothing, they’d surely blame me.”

”Alright, what do you really want?” Wei Yang stopped in his tracks, turned his head, and said helplessly, ”Stop playing riddles. Just be straightforward.”

”Um, Mr. Wei, actually... Ya Fei would like to request a Dou Spirit Pill from you. May I?” Once Wei Yang asked, Ya Fei didn’t hesitate anymore and quickly answered.

”Dou Spirit Pill? Is this for you, or is it your clan’s request?” Wei Yang gave her a sideways glance.

You? Just a little Dou Zhe, and you want a Dou Spirit Pill?

”It’s for Ya Fei personally. It has nothing to do with the clan,” Ya Fei gritted her teeth and said.

”You? You sure?” Wei Yang looked at her with a half-smile.

Ya Fei lowered her head and hesitated.

”You know the rules?” Wei Yang looked at her in surprise.

”I do, of course I do,” Ya Fei nodded repeatedly and said, ”Prepare three sets of ingredients, and after the pill is made, offer a thank-you gift.”

”Good.” Wei Yang nodded, then looked at her with a bit of surprise. ”The ingredients for three Dou Spirit Pills aren’t cheap. Even your Mittel Clan might find it hard to gather them all. You? You’re asking for someone else, right?”

”Mm... I dare not lie to you, sir. That’s right,” Ya Fei bit her lip and nodded. ”It’s the imperial family.”

”I knew it,” Wei Yang nodded in understanding, then said, ”Since that’s the case, I won’t fleece you. Give me the three sets of ingredients, and I guarantee at least one successful pill. As for the reward—three Tier 4 Soul-Nourishing Lotuses, or one Tier 5 one.”

”No problem!” Ya Fei agreed instantly, a look of excitement spreading across her face as she bowed slightly and gratefully said, ”Thank you, Mr. Wei!”

”Mhm.” Wei Yang gave a slight nod and continued walking. ”Arrange a quiet place for me to stay. Also, I don’t like being disturbed, and I especially don’t want to attend any banquets. Tell your people not to bother me.”

”Yes, yes, of course.” Ya Fei nodded repeatedly and complied without hesitation.

”We’re heading to the Alchemist Association. Have someone wait at the entrance and take us to the residence afterward.” Wei Yang waved his hand. ”That’s all. No need to see us off.”

Since he had taken the commission, having the other party arrange accommodations was only natural.

”Since Mr. Wei is heading to the Alchemist Association, and I happen to be free, let me guide you personally,” Ya Fei said with a smile.

”Whatever you want.” Wei Yang glanced at her indifferently.

In the spacious corridor...

Ya Fei turned slightly and looked back at the maid trailing behind them at a distance. She made a small gesture.

The maid immediately understood, bowed slightly, then turned and ran off quickly.

Meanwhile, Ya Fei also picked up her pace to walk a few steps ahead, her expression respectful as she personally led the way for Wei Yang.
