After a bit of casual chatting...

”My wife, Xian’er, she’ll also be participating in this Alchemist Grand Meeting,” Wei Yang said.

”Your wife? That white-haired woman?” Xiao Yan was stunned for a moment before asking in sudden realization.

”Huh? What white-haired woman? That’s your sister-in-law,” Wei Yang said with dissatisfaction.

”Alright, alright, sister-in-law, sister-in-law,” Xiao Yan could only offer a helpless, bitter smile and correct himself.

There was no helping it. Whether in his past life or this one, Wei Yang was older than him.

Yao Lao, on the other hand, sat cross-legged to the side, sipping tea leisurely, his face full of a kindly smile as he watched the two bicker like children.

Just like a kind old grandfather watching his young grandsons playing and arguing.

”Hehe, even if she’s my sister-in-law, I won’t hold back,” Xiao Yan laughed. ”It’s one thing if I can’t beat you, but you think I can’t beat her either?”

On this point, Xiao Yan still had confidence in himself.

When it came to alchemy talent among peers, aside from Wei Yang, he hadn’t really encountered any serious rivals yet.

Hmm... the reason Wei Yang currently held the edge was merely because his cultivation realm was higher.

Moreover, that Xian’er didn’t seem much older than him? And she possessed the Woeful Poison Body.

Compete in alchemy with him?

Heh.

”Don’t speak too soon. That’s not necessarily true.” Wei Yang raised an eyebrow. ”Xian’er’s alchemy skills are not weak. She works very hard.”

Xiao Yan simply spread his hands and shrugged, completely indifferent.

If hard work alone was enough, then what was the point of talent? His talent had been personally acknowledged by Yao Lao.

Yao Lao had once said himself that among all the young people he had met, both Wei Yang and Xiao Yan had top-tier alchemy and soul talent.

Even compared to Yao Lao’s once-proud and now-disgraced disciple Han Feng, they were superior.

Yao Lao had also said that the girl with the Woeful Poison Body beside Wei Yang did not stand out in terms of soul talent.

”Then let’s compete and see.” Xiao Yan replied indifferently.

Wei Yang smiled. Xiao Yan still didn’t know that Xian’er had already reached the peak of Tier 4. Otherwise, he wouldn’t be acting so relaxed now.

Even if Xiao Yan was hiding something, he was at best barely Tier 4 right now—what right did he have to look down on someone at the peak of Tier 4?

In the original story, Xiao Yan only won the Alchemist Grand Meeting through a last-minute outburst of power, performing way beyond his norm. If he hadn’t essentially been cheating with his golden finger and plot armor, how could he have possibly taken the championship?

We’ll just wait and see.

In truth, Wei Yang didn’t really care whether Xian’er or Xiao Yan ended up winning the championship.

After all, the meat would still end up in his own pot—so long as it didn’t fall into someone else’s hands, he was fine.

It would be best if it were Xian’er, but if it ended up being Xiao Yan, that was also acceptable.

...

Nighttime.

Cool moonlight spilled into the room, outlining the delicate, seductive curves of the body lying beneath a thin blanket on the bed.

The exposed skin glowed under the moonlight, as if sculpted from the finest white jade—smooth, tender, and irresistible to the touch.

Skin like snow, gleaming like jade—this kind of description was most fitting here, perhaps even an understatement.

A soft, lotus-like arm was wrapped around Wei Yang’s neck. The owner of that arm had a faint flush of satisfaction on her face, already dozing off in a lazy, contented slumber.

Wei Yang, however, suddenly opened his eyes. His pitch-black pupils glinted faintly in the dim room.

He gently moved the beauty’s arm aside and sat up.

”Mm... Brother Yang... spare me, let me rest a little longer... I’m so tired...” Xian’er murmured drowsily, sounding sweet and soft.

”Be good, you keep sleeping. I’m just getting up for a bit,” Wei Yang bent down and gently kissed her cheek, speaking in a soothing tone.

”Mmkay... come back quickly...” Xian’er mumbled incoherently, quickly drifting back into deep sleep. She smacked her lips a couple of times, a lingering charm still written between her brows.

Wei Yang lifted the blanket and got out of bed, tucking it gently around her to cover the alluring spring scenery that had peeked out.

He threw on a robe, quietly opened the door, and walked out.

...

In the courtyard.

A full moon hung high in the sky, its cold light casting a pale silvery veil over the entire courtyard.

A thin layer of white mist drifted through the night, moistening the flagstones and the many medicinal herbs.

”The dew’s pretty heavy tonight,” Wei Yang muttered softly as he looked in a certain direction.

There, beneath a cluster of bamboo in the corner, stood a tall, seductive figure clad in a purple brocade robe—slender yet voluptuous, alluring and poised.

The night breeze stirred the mist and gently lifted the hem of her robe, revealing a glimpse of dazzlingly fair, long legs.

The proportions were almost exaggerated—noticeably longer and straighter than those of ordinary women.

A truly stunning figure.

A beauty beneath the moon, tranquil and graceful—truly a perfect match.

Soft swoosh swoosh footsteps sounded lightly as Wei Yang stepped forward.

Seeing this scene, one couldn’t help but be somewhat amazed.

This woman—even if you ignored her face and upper body, just her legs alone would score at least an eighty. She was undoubtedly top-tier.

At that moment...

The enchanting figure dressed in purple slowly turned around, revealing an absolutely stunning face. Below was her elegant, snow-white neck, and further down, two full and proud curves.

It was none other than the long-absent Queen Medusa.

She no longer had a purple serpent tail. Instead, she now had two long legs.

”I was wondering who dared to disturb my sleep in the middle of the night. Turns out, it’s you?” Wei Yang stopped a short distance in front of her, hands behind his back, smiling as he nodded. ”Long time no see, Medusa.”

”Apologies for disturbing your rest.” Medusa smiled softly, bowed slightly, and said, ”Mr. Wei, long time no see.”

”So that little seven-colored snake back then was you, after all,” Wei Yang said, feigning sudden realization.

”Yes. At that time, my consciousness was weak and fell into slumber. My body was controlled by a newly born consciousness that had taken over...” Medusa explained.

She still held respect for Wei Yang—and since she had come asking for something, there was nothing worth hiding.

Besides, even Xiao Yan knew by now—there was even less reason to hide it from Wei Yang.

”So, it was a companion soul situation.” Wei Yang nodded slowly in understanding.

”Nothing escapes your eyes, Mr. Wei,” Medusa said, a hint of helplessness on her face. ”When my soul evolved, it became extremely weak. I couldn’t control my body, so the new consciousness, dominated by the companion soul, chose to follow Xiao Yan instead...”

Every time Medusa thought of this, she gritted her teeth in frustration—so much so that her chest ached with anger.

What kind of terrible judgment did that new consciousness have? Given the choice between following a Tier 6 alchemist or some little weakling, it actually chose the latter—worse still, to be raised like a pet?

For the proud Medusa, it nearly drove her to murder.

If she had to be a pet, then at least be a pet to a Tier 6 alchemist! That way, it wouldn’t be so humiliating and would be at least somewhat acceptable.

Still, Medusa had discovered one of Xiao Yan’s biggest secrets—the old soul always following him was unfathomable and seemed to be an alchemist too.

It was only because of this that Medusa’s mood had improved somewhat. Otherwise, Xiao Yan might not even have ashes left by now.

...

”So, what brings you here now?” Wei Yang asked.

”You must’ve heard of the champion’s reward for the Alchemist Grand Meeting, right?” Medusa asked.

”I’ve heard.” Wei Yang nodded. ”It’s a Tier 6 pill formula—Soul Mending Pill.”

He then pretended to suddenly realize something. ”Oh, I see now. You’ve come for that? The Soul Mending Pill would indeed suit your current situation—two souls in one body, right?”

”Mm.” Medusa nodded. ”I’ve already spoken with Xiao Yan. He promised to do everything he can to win the tournament. But I don’t think that’s reliable—his cultivation level is still too low. He’s only a One-Star Da Dou Shi. So I came to ask you, Mr. Wei. You’re an Honorary Elder of the Alchemist Association. If Xiao Yan fails, I hope you can help me acquire the Soul Mending Pill formula.”

As she spoke, Medusa bowed slightly and solemnly added, ”I’m willing to owe you a favor. If Mr. Wei ever has a task for me in the future, I will give it my all to fulfill it.”

”That so?” Wei Yang muttered thoughtfully before nodding. ”Sure.”

He had never intended to let anyone else take the champion spot anyway. It was either going to be Xian’er or Xiao Yan.

Such an easily obtained benefit—why would he refuse?

After all, a favor from a Dou Zong expert was quite valuable.

”Thank you, Mr. Wei.” A smile surfaced on Medusa’s face.

”For me, it’s nothing more than lifting a hand.” Wei Yang waved casually. Seeing that she still seemed to have something to say, hesitating with a look of uncertainty, he chuckled. ”Is there something else? Just say it. It’s late, and I still need to go back to sleep.”

As he spoke, he couldn’t help but rub his old waist.

On such a cold and misty night, standing out here in the damp air—he’d much rather be in bed cuddling his wife.

Medusa hesitated, her face showing some reluctance, but in the end, she gritted her teeth and said, ”There is indeed one more thing... Once I get the Soul Mending Pill formula, I hope Mr. Wei can personally help me refine it as soon as possible.”

”You should know, asking me to refine pills is very costly.”

Wei Yang chuckled, stretching his arms and smiling. ”Getting the formula for you is one thing—refining the pill is another matter entirely. The former is effortless, but the latter...”

”You should consider asking that old man by Xiao Yan’s side. Given their circumstances, his price would probably be lower.”

Medusa was clearly conflicted. But she couldn’t bear the thought of being kept as Xiao Yan’s pet any longer. She wanted to solve this issue quickly and return to the Snake-people Clan to resume her role as Queen.

Yet asking that soul to refine the pill... she could already guess what the condition would be—she’d have to continue protecting Xiao Yan as a bodyguard for some time.

And that was precisely what her proud heart refused to accept.

If she had to choose, she would rather follow Wei Yang and serve as his bodyguard than stay with Xiao Yan, that little weakling.

It wasn’t about whether following Wei Yang would be easier or not.

In fact, quite the opposite—a Tier 6 alchemist would naturally have tougher enemies.

But Medusa was willing.

It was just the pride of a strong one at work.
