Chapter 409: Chapter 408 I Look Down on Your Brother-in-law_2

...

After leaving the Haidian Entertainment Bar,

Zhao Xuemo felt the full effect of the alcohol she had consumed in the bar.

She spent a long time vomiting in her high heels outside.

Lin Zifeng just leaned against a traffic light, smoking a cigarette, waiting for her to finish.

”Ah, life is tough indeed, selling yourself short for a job like this. It seems the position of PR department director isn’t so easy to hold.”

Seeing that Zhao Xuemo was almost done vomiting,

She wobbled on her high heels towards the road, which scared Lin Zifeng enough to hurry over and pull her back..

In the middle of the night, if she got hit by a car because she was drunk, that really wouldn’t be worth it.

”How about I take you home, Director Zhao? Letting you go alone in the middle of the night, I wouldn’t feel at ease.”

”I can get home by myself, you don’t need to escort me. You should head home, it’s late,” Zhao Xuemo said with her eyes closed, shaking her head as if the alcohol made her fuzzy.

”Can you really get home by yourself?” Lin Zifeng asked with concern.

”Don’t worry, I’m not drunk.”

Uh, those who are truly drunk always say they aren’t. It seemed she was really intoxicated.

However, what Lin Zifeng was most relieved about was that at least Zhao Xuemo didn’t go berserk when drunk.

”This little bit of alcohol is nothing to me. As PR people, when do we not drink with clients? It’s become a habit.”

For some reason, watching Zhao Xuemo’s lonely figure and her detached mood, Lin Zifeng always felt this woman had a sense of solitude in her inner world.

It was a familiar feeling.

Because Lin Zifeng carried that sense of loneliness himself.

Whenever he was alone in silence, he felt as if his entire being became hushed and disconnected from the world.

Watching Zhao Xuemo’s delicate body wobble as she walked, Lin Zifeng grew genuinely concerned for her.

He quickly stepped forward to support her and asked, ”Didn’t you drive?”

”Us in PR are almost everyday dealing with alcohol, did you want me to get penalized by traffic police?” Zhao Xuemo replied with drunken, hazy eyes, turning around to reveal her pretty and flawless face.

”Hmm, it’s getting a bit hot,” Zhao Xuemo noted.

Apparently feeling the heat from the alcohol combined with the summer weather, she began to feel warm.

”You hold this for me,” she said, handing over her handbag after Lin Zifeng took it.

Zhao Xuemo started to take off her jacket, revealing her black semi-transparent blouse to Lin Zifeng in an instant.

”What are you looking at?” Zhao Xuemo asked in a daze.

”Nothing, I’m not looking at anything,” Lin Zifeng said, feeling a bit guilty.

But the sight of Zhao Xuemo’s skin under the blouse did indeed cause him a small bit of bewilderment.

”Are you going to walk home like this?” He was genuinely worried about letting her go alone into the night.

”What, you want to take me home?” Zhao Xuemo turned her pretty face towards him, full of city woman’s charm that was unquestionable. However, her voice carried an undertone of loneliness.

Just this question made Lin Zifeng’s heart beat like a nervous young man.

”It’s late, I’m worried about your safety if you go alone.”

”Then escort me,” she said.

”Sure, no problem,” Lin Zifeng nodded solemnly. He really didn’t have any ulterior motives towards Zhao Xuemo; he still felt somewhat apologetic about the bathroom incident.

”You’re really going to escort me?” What began as a jest, she hadn’t expected him to take seriously.

Zhao Xuemo looked at him with starry eyes, surprised.

”Yes,” Lin Zifeng affirmed seriously, not seeing anything improper and not feeling embarrassed about the earlier accidental contact.

”Uh, alright then,” Zhao Xuemo thought for a moment, realized going alone might be dangerous, and finally nodded in agreement.

So, Lin Zifeng hailed a cab and decided to personally take Zhao Xuemo home for safety’s sake.

In such chaotic times, who knows what could happen to a beautiful woman walking alone on the streets.

Sitting in the car, Zhao Xuemo’s breathing rhythm clearly quickened, as the effects of the alcohol took hold.

Yet, Zhao Xuemo’s intellectual beauty as a modern career woman stunned Lin Zifeng for a few seconds.

Wonderful times always fly by quickly.

Half an hour later, with Lin Zifeng’s support, Zhao Xuemo finally made it home.

Zhao Xuemo’s home was very tidy and clean, nearly spotless.

The furniture and decorations were all modern, even a small refrigerator spoke of Zhao Xuemo’s quality of life.

But what Lin Zifeng couldn’t understand was how such a beautiful woman like Zhao Xuemo appeared to live alone, without any male companions. How was that possible?

Such a beautiful woman couldn’t possibly lack suitors.

Yet recalling the evening’s events, Lin Zifeng could understand; who would fall for a woman who was drunk all the time?

Just as Lin Zifeng was about to lay Zhao Xuemo on the couch, unexpectedly, she suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck.

Under the influence of alcohol, Zhao Xuemo’s emotions became somewhat excited. Despite her seemingly indifferent exterior, the warmth of her body, spurred by the alcohol, made her forget many of the day’s realities.

”Damn! Director Zhao, what are you trying to do? I am a very decent man. You can’t, um, do anything inappropriate to me. Besides, as someone who values emotional cleanliness, I don’t indulge in such behavior,” Lin Zifeng babbled on.
