Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Chapter 148: 148 Fear (2)_1

The old master shook his head and sighed, ”Obvious threats are easy to dodge, but hidden ones are hard to guard against. Look at how Jizhou has been having trouble lately; it’s as if someone has it in for him.”

”Really?”

Huo Jinnan retorted with a question, looking down at Gu Jizhou, ”Have you made any enemies?”

”Possibly,” Gu Jizhou responded in a low voice.

Standing to one side, the old master watched Huo Jinnan’s expression, unable to discern or hear anything significant, and spoke out in disappointment, ”Ah, isn’t it just because of a woman and the conflict with Qin Shaojin that this has happened? It’s not appropriate for me to step in. Anan, I’ve heard that you have dealings with Qin Shaojin... this matter...”

”You can’t possibly believe that they would target the Huo Family just for this, do you?”

Huo Jinnan tossed the question back and then sat on the couch, lighting a cigarette and drawing a long breath, ”My relationship with Qin Shaojin isn’t that close.”

The old master, upon hearing this, felt uncomfortable, ”Anan, help Grandpa investigate this, and see who is causing trouble from behind the scenes.”

Huo Jinnan looked up at the old master, ”I’ve been out of the loop for years, with not much of a network. Wouldn’t it be more convenient for Grandpa to investigate?”

Indeed!

With that retort, he had no response.

The old master said nothing further and sat there sullenly, glancing at Huo Jinnan. He couldn’t shake the feeling that Anan was involved in these matters, but there was no evidence!

There was already an irreparable rift between grandfather and grandson; he did not want to make things worse.

With this in mind, he looked at Huo Jinnan again, ”I’ll come to stay at your place for a few days for some peace and quiet.”

Huo Jinnan flicked the cigarette ash, ”With Xiaowei there, I’m afraid Grandpa won’t be able to find any quiet.”

The old master, having been tactfully refused, felt a knot in his heart and his brow furrowed deeply. He wanted to say more but held back, glancing at Huo Jinyun.

Huo Jinyun stood up, remembering the old master’s earlier instructions, and looked at Huo Jinnan, ”Anan, about the incident five years ago, I truly was unaware and never expected Yunqing to be so bold as to meddle with your drink.”

The old master glared at Huo Jinyun, thinking she didn’t know the first thing about subtlety in her speech!

Huo Jinnan remained silent, draping his black trench coat over the sofa.

Huo Jinyun could distinctly feel the chill emanating from him, recalling how five years ago he had stood there with such a stern face...

There was a certain intimidating aura about Anan that even filled her with a vague sense of fear.

In the Huo Family, the person she feared the most was Anan.

Huo Jinnan lit another cigarette and took a puff.

Huo Jinyun sat next to him, ”Anan, now that things have come to this...”

Huo Jinnan looked up and glanced at Huo Jinyun.

Huo Jinyun choked back her words. Initially, she had encouraged Yunqing to help her because she saw Anan was young and talented, surely destined to take the helm of the Huo Family, and she had hoped for some security.

After all, she wasn’t truly siblings with Anan like she was with Abei and Axue.

She just hadn’t expected that Anan, despite his young age, wasn’t someone who could be easily manipulated.

After Yunqing’s issue caused several disputes, she dared not play any more tricks in front of Anan and knew this brother was not one to be trifled with. In his presence, she always felt an inexplicable sense of guilt.

Huo Jinnan glanced at Huo Jinyun, ”If Yunqing wants custody of Xiaowei, tell her to get a lawyer.”

Huo Jinyun forced a smile awkwardly, ”Anan, why would she do that? She’s not that unreasonable.”

Huo Jinnan didn’t say anything more, sitting there with a cold, haughty expression.

Huo Jinyun thought about the people who had helped Wen Hua and Che Huan before and tentatively spoke up, ”Anan, I think Grandpa was right, it really seems like someone wants to target the Huo Family through Jizhou. It’s just unclear if it’s the Qin Family.”

Huo Jinnan looked up at Huo Jinyun.
