Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Disordered footsteps echoed as they entered the room, and Che Huan, with one hand, tightly clutched the clothes in the closet, afraid of causing any more noise.

Huo Jinnan stepped in, glanced around the room, and upon seeing the company commander, his long legs moved towards the bed’s direction, took a quick look at the broken lamp on the floor and turned back to look at the company commander with an odd expression on his face.

Gu Jizhou and Uncle Guan stood to the side, watching as the company commander took small, hurried steps towards the closet, then stood up straight on his hind legs and leaned against the closet like a guilty party, hanging his head low.

Huo Jinnan’s eyes were intensely fixed on the company commander, ”Come here!”

The company commander glanced at Gu Jizhou and Uncle Guan, slowly walking toward Huo Jinnan with a wronged look, trying to please him by gently tugging at his pant leg with his mouth.

Huo Jinnan looked down at the company commander, his eyes deep and profound, ”You?”

The company commander scratched at the broken lampshade with his paw, his head hanging even lower.

Uncle Guan watched from the side, thought he was meddling and quickly spoke up, ”Second Young Master, the company commander must have been here.”

Gu Jizhou, standing aside, looked at the wide-open window with paw prints left by the company commander, then at the bed and the bedside cabinet, which also bore the marks of the company commander.

He looked at Uncle Guan, ”From now on, keep the windows closed to prevent thieves from getting in. The old house is so large that no one would notice if someone were staying in the rooms.”

Uncle Guan felt something was off, why was the window open? But then, thinking of the company commander’s abilities, he quickly came to terms with it.

Hearing the unusual conversation between the Second Young Master and the Fourth Young Master, he decided not to intervene, ”How could that be! I don’t think any thief has the guts.”

Huo Jinnan looked at Uncle Guan, ”You all go first, I’ll clean up.”

Uncle Guan quickly responded, ”I’ll call Auntie Shen to come up and clean.”

Huo Jinnan looked down at the company commander, ”Isn’t she preparing lunch? I can do it myself.”

Knowing the Second Young Master’s temperament, Uncle Guan didn’t insist, ”Yes, Second Young Master.”

As Uncle Guan turned to leave the room, Huo Jinnan added, ”I didn’t sleep last night and am a bit tired, have Auntie Shen send lunch straight to my room later.”

”Yes, Second Young Master.”

Once Uncle Guan left the room, he looked towards Gu Jizhou who was still standing there.

Gu Jizhou paused, then glanced at Huo Jinnan, exited the bedroom, took a look at Uncle Guan walking ahead, and followed him downstairs.

Was he overthinking?

He trusted that Huo Jinnan did not yet have the skill to hide someone in his room without anyone noticing.

He had checked carefully earlier, and there were no signs a woman had been in the room, not even a strand of hair.

Huo Jinnan stood in the bedroom, listened to their footsteps fading away, closed the door, and walked to the closet, flinging open the door.

Che Huan closed her eyes, biting her lip tightly, her face ashen.

”They’re gone,” Huo Jinnan said softly.

Che Huan took a few deep breaths, opened her eyes to see Huo Jinnan, her body shaking violently.

”So afraid?” Huo Jinnan looked at Che Huan, his gaze landing on her slightly reddened cheeks.

Che Huan did not respond, intending to get out, only to realize her legs had gone numb from standing so long, and she couldn’t move!

Huo Jinnan looked down, bent over, and grabbed her ankle.

Che Huan stiffened there, feeling the man’s slightly rough fingertips against her, the pressure just right, massaging her ankle bone gently yet firmly.

After a while, Huo Jinnan let go.

Just as Che Huan was about to get out, she suddenly felt weightless as he scooped her up in his arms.

Huo Jinnan placed her on the bed, glanced at her, and left the room.

Che Huan let out a sigh of relief.

Soon after, Huo Jinnan returned to the room with a towel and a vacuum cleaner among other cleaning tools.

Che Huan quickly got off the bed, ”Let me do it.”
