Daddy Always Gets Jealous

Chapter 138: 138 Crazy (4)_1

”Fine, if I have to die, I’ll take you with me as my contribution to public safety!”

Qiao Qiao dared not look any longer, closed her eyes, and even her own voice, to her ears, seemed to come from a distance far, far away.

Just then, with a ”bang,” a tire was shot, suddenly deflating, and the car instantly skewed, tilting towards the side of the road!

The tire left a long mark on the emergency lane, and in this hot weather, there was a strong smell resembling burning rubber.

The front of the car scraped heavily against the guardrails of the overpass as it side-swiped them.

As her body lurched forward, Qiao Qiao had already shielded her face with her arms, and the airbag deployed forcefully, making her feel so numb in her entire arm that she nearly lost sensation!

As the car looked about to flip over to the inside, Gu Jizhou clutched the steering wheel with both hands, frantically turning it several times, before it finally landed steadily on the ground, abruptly cutting the engine!

Qiao Qiao, jolted to the point of nearly vomiting, sat in the passenger seat, her face as pale as paper.

It took a long time for the dizziness to subside, and she felt a warm sensation on her forehead, something trickling down her face.

She touched it with her hand, looked down, and it was all blood; her vision suddenly began to blacken in waves.

Gu Jizhou sat there, his complexion not much better, frightfully pale with no hint of color, and it took him a while to recover his senses. Looking back at the traffic, it was impossible to discern who had taken the shot.

Qiao Qiao broke out in a cold sweat all over, felt icy cold, and looked towards Gu Jizhou with a weak and breathless expression.

Gu Jizhou lit a cigarette, looked at Qiao Qiao, and said, ”So, how much money?”

Qiao Qiao looked at Gu Jizhou, ”What do you think?”

”One hundred million.” Qiao Qiao was stunned upon hearing this. One hundred million? What sort of secret was worth that much?

Gu Jizhou watched Qiao Qiao with a sinister look, ”You should learn to be content with what you have.”

Gu Jizhou was simply a madman. If she did not agree with him, he would definitely not let her off!

Qiao Qiao glanced at the shattered car window, then felt a sharp pain in her arm. Looking down, she saw shards embedded deeply in her flesh, ”Okay, when will you give it to me?”

Gu Jizhou gave Qiao Qiao a cold laugh, ”Tomorrow I’ll have someone send a cheque to the hospital. You must resign immediately and disappear from Hongcheng. Don’t ever see Che Huan again. If I find out, next time, you might not be so lucky.”

His tone indicated that he was ready to kill to keep her silent. Qiao Qiao nodded, utterly unaware that someone had just saved her life!

Gu Jizhou looked at Qiao Qiao, ”Get out of the car and take a cab back.”

He took his wallet from beside him, took out two hundred yuan, and threw it at Qiao Qiao.

Qiao Qiao did not take it. ”I still have enough money for a cab!”

She opened the car door and got out, glanced at her injured arm with a frown, then jogged along the roadside down from the overpass and hailed a taxi.

Huo Bei spoke from the driver’s seat with icy detachment, ”Miss, where to?”

Qiao Qiao fell silent for a moment before giving her address and sitting there, lost in thought.

Should she tell Che Huan?

If that child is still alive right now...

Where could he be?

In some orphanage?

No, there must be some other secret. Otherwise, why would Gu Jizhou act so madly and even offer an exorbitant sum like one hundred million as hush money!

Huo Bei glanced back at Qiao Qiao, ”Not going to the hospital?”

Coming back to her senses, Qiao Qiao remembered her bloodied and battered state. She looked at Huo Bei. This taxi driver was unusually calm, not panicking even with such a passenger, ”Then let’s go to the hospital.”
