Chapter 1324: Chapter 333: Secret Meeting

Of course, although Prime Minister David does not believe that the Russian Labor Party will remain ”pure” forever, at present, the Russian Labor Party is clearly far from deteriorating, which will take a long time. It’s like only when idealists are constantly battered by the bloody reality can you tell who is truly golden and who is merely pretending to be gold.

Prime Minister David believes that the Russian Labor Party consists of a group of cynical ”impulsive people,” and these ”impulsive people” will eventually return to reality as time passes.

However, their initial impulsiveness is enough to cause immense destruction to any country, especially to the United Kingdom, which is the most industrialized nation in the world.

The conflict between the British government and the working class has a long history, with a massive working class in the UK that has become an undeniable social force.

And naturally, the UK is also one of the most active regions for the European Labor Party, with even Karl, an important founding figure of the Labor Party, resting in a public cemetery on British soil.

Therefore, it is natural that the UK government is highly vigilant against the Russian revolution, fearing that this wave might be repeated in the UK. Hence, using East Africa to restrain the Russian Labor Party is indeed a good idea in Prime Minister David’s view.

East Africa is also a monarchy, so even if it is a potential competitor to British hegemony, the two countries can completely trust each other regarding their attitudes toward the Labor Party.

Subsequently, Prime Minister David and Belfort organized a cabinet meeting of the British government to discuss how to utilize East Africa to confront the Russian Labor Party.

Only two days later, the cabinet had a clear strategy, as compared to the parliament, cabinet meetings faced much less interference, making it easier to unify thoughts and reach consensus.

On the third day, Prime Minister David submitted a related proposal to the parliament on the ”redistribution of power in the Indian Ocean,” which unsurprisingly passed through parliament’s review smoothly.

After all, currently, the UK does not have a better choice; stabilizing East Africa from joining the Allies is essential, countering the Russian Labor Party is also indispensable, and this division of power, under the guise of ”territorial exchange,” can maintain the dignity and face of the Empire.

Even though a small number of people do not agree with the government’s compromise with East Africa, it is not enough to form a strong opposition voice. As East Africa opens its markets, the UK has also formed a pro-East Africa faction over the years. Although their scale and influence are not large, their voice suffices to overshadow the opposition.

Of course, the so-called pro-East Africa faction is not genuinely ”fond of” East Africa but represents a new interest group with deep vested interests with East Africa.

Since the economic rise of East Africa over the years, the trade with the UK has grown immensely, naturally allowing some to profit from this trade. This group naturally hopes for stable relations between East Africa and the UK.

This political faction, ultimately, is rooted in reality-driven interests, widely present in every country.

Before the war broke out, the ”pro-German” faction within the UK had quite an influential political impact, but they ultimately did not prevent the Empire’s policy shift.

...

Rhein City.

The UK’s actions were rapid; merely two weeks later, the British ambassador to East Africa, Tom Thomson, brought directives from the British government to East Africa to conduct consultations between the two countries.

Emperor Ernst of the Empire, Crown Prince Friedrich, and other high-ranking East African officials attended this secret meeting between the two nations.

Thomson said: ”Regarding our British Empire’s intentions, given the increasingly tense world situation now and issues like piracy in the Indian Ocean threatening trade among countries, our government wishes to engage in deeper discussions with your country on the Indian Ocean problem.”

”However, your Imperial Majesty of the Rhein Empire and the high-ranking officials of the Rhein Empire, we have a small request, which is also the basis for this negotiation.”

The so-called Indian Ocean piracy issue is obviously rhetoric used by Britain to legitimize this meeting and conceal the true purpose of the meeting.

After all, this negotiation, essentially, is Britain’s political compromise with East Africa, and naturally cannot be conducted so candidly.

Moreover, jointly safeguarding the security of trade routes in the Indian Ocean and solving piracy issues seems much more noble, making the British government the envoy of maintaining world peace and security.

Regarding these minor details, the East African government officials naturally did not expose it, as Ernst directly asked: ”May I know what the request of Ambassador Thomson from Britain is?”

Thomson replied without hesitation: ”Your Majesty, our British request this time? It won’t put your country in a difficult position and it’s greatly beneficial for countries worldwide.”

”Presumably, your country also knows that currently this evil organization, the Russian Labor Party, has come to power in Russia, and the Labor Party is a disruptor of order for countries worldwide, like pests in the farmland.”

”It undermines the foundation of legal governments in countries, inciting the masses who do not know the truth, causing vast disruptions to world peace and order. Does your country agree with our view?”

Ernst naturally affirmed: ”Of course, in terms of the attitude towards the Russian Labor Party, we in East Africa and your country are aligned.”

Ambassador Thomson said: ”Exactly, but now there arises a problem. In dealing with such an evil organization, all countries worldwide are obligated to eliminate it. But as is known, we the British Empire are currently temporarily unable to focus eastward, so we hope your country can assume this responsibility. If your country agrees, then we the British Empire are willing to suffer some losses and provide some conveniences for your country, for the peace and stability of the world.”

Regarding Thomson’s words, Ernst naturally would not oppose. After all, starting from East Africa’s stance, Ernst also has to be irreconcilable with the Russian Labor Party.

So Ernst said: ”That is natural. Our attitude towards the Labor Party is unwavering, that is, resolute suppression and strikes. Your Excellency can rest assured, especially since even the Russian Crown Prince Aleksey is currently in East Africa.”

Upon hearing Ernst’s words, Thomson was not surprised; ever since the Labor Party came to power, Nicholas II’s disappearance raised Aleksey Crown Prince’s value significantly, and Aleksey Crown Prince being in East Africa is not a secret to other countries.

Thomson said: ”In that case, we hope your country in the coming times can initiate intervention in Russia, supporting Russian domestic forces, and driving the Labor Party out of power.”

Ernst scoffed internally, thinking the British are somewhat overestimating East Africa. Given the current situation of the Russian Labor Party, it is essentially impossible for East Africa alone to overthrow it, and Ernst has never been optimistic about Russian internal reactionary forces.

Even if East Africa fully supports these reactionary ”insects,” it would be nothing more than fueling a fire for the final Russian situation. With external forces intervening, it might instead further foster internal unity within the Labor Party, making them stronger.

Of course, Ernst would certainly not say this out loud; he resolutely replied to Thomson: ”Suppressing the Russian Labor Party is an undeniable responsibility for all countries worldwide, and we in East Africa are no exception.”

”In fact, we in East Africa have prepared for the intervention of the Russian Labor Party long ago, but unfortunately, Russia and East Africa are separated by the Indian Ocean, and also the Ottoman Empire, Persia, among other countries and regions, making East Africa’s reach beyond grasp!”

What Ernst spoke was certainly not the truth. In fact, East Africa’s actions were quite the opposite, and currently East Africa is arranging the forces and organizations it has supported in Russia to orderly retreat.

Otherwise, with the strength of East Africa’s National Defense Security Bureau, it could cause considerable trouble for the Russian Labor Party, but merely trouble, while Ernst believes the bureau remaining in Russia would be a major issue for East Africa itself.

Even if this espionage organization has undergone intellectual training, it cannot negate the infiltration strength of the Labor Party’s ideological weapon.

Although Ernst definitely won’t have the National Defense Security Bureau fully withdraw from Russia, most members won’t stay there either. Future personnel dispatched to Russia for intelligence and espionage activities must be strictly selected resilient ”Monarchism” warriors.
