Chapter 1320: Chapter 329: Geopolitical Conflicts in East America

After Logans analyzed the reasons for the United States joining the war from an economic perspective, Defense Minister Pripyat also analyzed the U.S. government’s involvement from a geopolitical angle.

”The United States cannot escape the influence of the British in international affairs. Moreover, the U.S. surely intends to utilize British influence to enhance its position in international competition.”

”Due to its geographical limitations, the United States has three directions for expansion: the American continent, particularly Latin America, the European continent, and Asia.”

”In the direction of America, although England and France’s influence has greatly diminished due to the war, the Empire has conveniently filled this void.”

”Especially regarding the influence on South American countries, we have an advantage over the United States. In Brazil, Argentina, and other South American great powers, the influence of the Empire has exceeded that of Britain and the United States.”

”In northern South America, our influence has spread to the outskirts of the Caribbean Sea, even directly threatening the Panama Canal, an important passage closely related to the U.S. economy.”

Why East Africa would threaten the Panama Canal starts with Panama itself. Originally, Panama was not an independent country but was part of Colombia’s territory. To strengthen control over the Panama Canal, the U.S. supported Panama’s independence movement in the early twentieth century.

According to the normal historical trajectory, Colombia could only accept its misfortune, as the United States was then the dominant power in America, coincidentally encountering the opportunity when European forces like England and France had to withdraw from America.

However, with East Africa as a new player, the situation changes. East Africa originally focused on Venezuela, and as Colombia is Venezuela’s neighbor, especially next to Venezuela’s oil region, it naturally causes East Africa to pay attention to diplomatic relations with Colombia.

Moreover, the two countries have a natural foundation for cooperation. Colombia needs new outside forces to counterbalance the United States and even hopes to reclaim Panama and control the Panama Canal, an economic powerhouse.

East Africa also does not want the United States to dominate the Caribbean Sea entirely. The U.S. had almost turned the Caribbean Sea into its own territory, acting recklessly within the region.

East Africa is certainly not a ”saint” wanting to champion justice for Caribbean countries, but it does not want the U.S. to solidify its hegemony over the Caribbean Sea completely.

After all, controlling the Caribbean Sea not only threatens East Africa’s interests in Venezuela but also allows the U.S. to further expand its influence on South American countries.

This clashes with East Africa’s national strategy, as East Africa has already deemed the southern countries as its core interests, regarding the South Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean as two wings of its country.

From a realistic perspective, the direct benefits South America can bring to East Africa currently outweigh those of the Indian Ocean.

After all, politically and economically, South America is more independent and larger compared to countries around the Indian Ocean.

While the Indian Ocean coast has many great places, the key areas are mostly controlled by the British, such as India, the Persian Gulf, the Red Sea, and other regions.

Although Britain’s influence was strong in South America, it ultimately was Portugal and Spain’s dominion, and various South American countries only broke free from these sovereign countries’ control last century.

Therefore, from the perspective of realistic interests and East African countries’ future development strategy, East Africa cannot ignore America, especially relations with nations in the South Atlantic.

Of course, Colombia clearly falls within the North Atlantic range but acts as the frontline in the confrontation between East Africa and the United States.

To maintain its interests in America, East Africa cannot overlook Colombia, even if control is impossible, ensuring it does not lean towards the United States is a victory for East Africa.

Pripyat continued, ”In the Pacific direction, we also have competitive relations with the United States, as our colonies and economic interests are widespread in the Pacific.”

”The Pacific direction concerns the U.S.’s strategy in Asia, with Asia as the core of the Pacific, within which the Far East Empire is the core of the core.”

”Meanwhile, in the South Sea Region, the United States also competes with us, as the two countries can be seen as potential competitors in Asian regions.”

”However, the distance between both our countries and the East Asia region, centered around the Far East Empire, is relatively far, and within the region, the Far East Empire and Japan are not minor powers, causing our competition in East Asia with the United States not to be intense.”

”On the whole, our advantage in East Asia, expanding across Asia, is far greater than that of the United States, so American expansion in the Far East region is not smooth.”

East Africa focuses on the Indian Ocean and Atlantic Ocean because its homeland faces these two major oceans and is a world power.

The same applies to the United States, which naturally prioritizes expansion towards the Atlantic and Pacific and views the entire America as its core interests.

The current issue is the overlapping expansion directions between the United States and East Africa, overall favoring East Africa, which obstructs U.S. global policies.

Thus, Pripyat said, ”Our presence already complicates U.S. expansion in two directions, leaving only the European direction they can count on.”

”Under the current world situation, Europe is considered the most powerful political and economic sector; whoever integrates Europe gains global dominance.”

”The European war presents an opportunity for the United States, in which they have more advantages than East Africa to participate in this round of political shifts.”

”Ultimately, America is intervening in European politics, invited by England and France, the traditional European powers.”

To a certain extent, England and France dictate communication between other countries and the European mainland, controlling European external channels, excepting the giant Russia.

England and France together can prevent other European countries from accessing the seas.

From the North Sea to the Gibraltar Strait, then to Egypt’s Suez Canal, the covered Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea are the naval backyards of these two countries.

Russia avoids this because it spans two continents with its territory stretching towards the Pacific direction, yet its external channels primarily rely on land transportation and are not the main trade routes, rendering little effect.

The Allies control Europe’s external communication routes, and without consent from England and France, infiltration into Europe by other countries is challenging.

East Africa is blocked out by England and France, even though possibilities exist for breakthroughs, such as taking North African regions like Egypt and Libya, turning East Africa into a Mediterranean coastal country.

However, akin to how the U.S. does not directly annex Mexico, East Africa does not want to transform Egypt and other North African regions into its own territories, as East Africa’s homeland is already at its limit.

Exceeding this limit would significantly pressure East Africa’s economic development, similar to Siberia for Russia.

Siberia’s resources are not inferior to Egypt and North African regions, potentially even more comprehensive. North Africa’s noteworthy resources primarily include oil, yet East Africa has overcome its energy crisis.

In addition, North African cultures and races differ significantly from East Africa, and conquering North Africa would bring more trouble than benefits to East Africa. Furthermore, these places have been divided by England and France, such as Egypt being a British colony and Libya a French colony — factors East Africa cannot overlook.

This brings the topic back to England and France, highlighting their influence engulfing Europe together.

Pripyat said, ”Currently, England and France need the U.S. to curb the Allies, thus involuntarily inviting a threat into their space, while the United States clearly covets Europe’s wealth, power, and influence.”

”Of course, U.S. involvement also excludes America from suppressing the German Country; the Allies’ hub includes Germany and Austria-Hungary. If these countries achieve European dominance, along with East Africa, the U.S. would forever be a regional power, confined to North America, so America’s advancement requires participation to prevent such potential outcomes.”

If Pripyat’s prediction comes true, the U.S. might struggle to control not only America but even North America, as East Africa is already extending influence to Colombia. Should the U.S. err in strategic judgment, other countries will further capitalize on their downfall.
