High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2749: Chapter 970: Alchemical Sheep Doll

Zheng Qing had long heard that Doctor Du Zemu was also recruited by Edge Academy.

However, he had never seen Doctor Du Zemu’s figure in the temporary academy camp by the cliff, nor had he heard his students mention that Edge Academy had such an alchemy teacher.

Considering the small tasks he had to complete every day during this period and what Thomas had once said, Zheng Qing had reason to believe that Doctor Du Zemu should play a very important role in the mysterious project of Edge Academy.

And Lin Guo is now Doctor Du Zemu’s assistant.

If an assistant’s boss holds an important position in a project, it’s natural for the assistant’s status to rise accordingly. Just like Lin Guo, although due to his age, it’s unlikely for him to be hired as a teaching assistant (had this happened, it would have caused a great uproar both inside and outside the school), but given his talent, becoming a research assistant is possible.

At First University, the rank of a research assistant is equivalent to that of a teaching assistant.

Following this logic, it makes perfect sense for Lin Guo to wear a black robe—especially when the identity of researchers in many key laboratories or projects within the school is kept confidential, his identity not being publicly announced becomes all the more reasonable.

”——The speed of time is proportional to the strength of a wizard’s magic power. Given a fixed lifespan, the shorter the remaining life (i.e., time), the faster time passes; the longer the remaining time, the slower it passes. This is why children feel time goes slow, while adults feel it goes fast... the older you get, the faster time seems to pass.”

And for wizards, especially those with strong magic power, because they have a long lifespan, their perception of time is very dulled and they do not experience the ’speed of time’ that ordinary wizards do, explaining why you have the sensation of time being sometimes fast, sometimes slow.”

In the ear came the serious analysis of the little warlock, and Zheng Qing returned to his senses, taking a while to realize he was responding to his earlier musings.

Somehow quite endearing.

”That’s not what the theory of time acceleration says.”

Zheng Qing half-jokingly retorted—before being authorized to use the Time Converter, he had studied a series of magical theories regarding the concept of time in dimensional theory, which was evidently not the same system Lin Guo studied.

Upon hearing the words ’time acceleration,’ Lin Guo immediately frowned, as if hearing something absurd.

But he didn’t have time to speak.

The office door was politely knocked on.

Knock, knock-knock!

Accompanied by the rhythmic knocking, a young warlock in a grey robe poked half his body in from outside the door, his gaze sweeping over Zheng Qing before finally landing on the short, plump wizard with the red nose.

”Sorry to interrupt.”

The grey robe wizard took off his hat and politely greeted, ”I was just walking on the street and saw a black mountain goat running amok without its owner... can I leave it here?”

Though Trident Sword isn’t part of the Beta Town Management Committee or the Beta Town Patrol Team, it likewise belongs to the town’s security agencies. It’s reasonable to accept a lost black mountain goat.

Speaking, the grey robe wizard tugged at the rope in his hand, pulling the ’stray black mountain goat’ into the Trident Sword’s office. The black mountain goat resisted and struggled backward, but to no avail, still getting dragged bit by bit into the office.

”Er Black!”

Lin Guo immediately forgot about debating the concept of time with Zheng Qing, shouted, and lunged forward, rubbing the black mountain goat’s head and neck, gratefully looking at the grey robe wizard: ”This goat is mine! Thank you so much! Thanks! Very grateful!”

He clumsily searched his pockets, seemingly trying to find a suitable thank-you gift.

But the grey robe wizard pressed his shoulder, smiling slightly: ”A trivial matter, don’t mention it, any member of the school staff would not stand by... so, good day.”

While saying the last four words, he glanced at Andrew, then looked at Zheng Qing again, nodded slightly, put back on his pointed hat, adjusted the brim, and turned to leave.

Zheng Qing silently watched this scene.

Although this grey robe wizard repeatedly claimed to ’pass by coincidentally,’ Zheng Qing was convinced he had seen him beside Old Ernest—especially that meaningful look when parting—indicating this grey robe wizard should be one of his guards.

So, does this mean it’s the school guard team’s shift period?

Wondering whether it’s time for their shift change.

These fleeting thoughts flashed across the young teaching assistant’s mind, and his gaze fell again on the black mountain goat in front of Lin Guo, asking in a subtly nuanced tone, ”——Did you just call it ’Er Black’? Is this the one you created with alchemy?”

If he remembered correctly, Lin Guo’s previous pet goat was called ’Big Black.’ Ever since Big Black perished in that major incident affecting the school and Black Prison, the little warlock took a long time to craft an alchemical sheep doll identical to Big Black using alchemy.

In Zheng Qing’s impression, that sheep doll had dull eyes, completely different from the spirited black sheep in front of him. Besides, if it were the original alchemical sheep doll, he should have recognized it at first sight.

This sheep in front looks almost indistinguishable from a living one.

”Yes.”

The little warlock pulled out a leash, tied it to the black mountain goat’s neck, and answered in a very low voice.

The black mountain goat shook its ears, craned its head forcefully backward, trying to refuse the leash. Zheng Qing hurried forward to lend a hand, holding down its two horns.

Then he couldn’t help but raise his eyebrows, taking a careful look at this troublemaking goat that had just charged at him—though with his eyes, it’s hard to tell the differences between sheep.

”It seems a bit different from before.”

Zheng Qing searched his memory for the appearance of the alchemical sheep doll, feeling increasingly uncertain. Especially when this black sheep stared at him with defiance, the overwhelmingly ’alive’ sensation inexplicably reminded him of his three great elves at home: ”——How did your sheep become like this?”

”A very interesting, very sophisticated, very rare technique.”

The Trident Sword officer also squatted in front of the black mountain goat, expressing his amazement with a stream of ’verys,’ before changing the subject: ”... But has the transformation of your black mountain goat been approved by the Alliance Ethics Committee? Transformations of alchemical life aren’t just a magical issue, they’re a very serious legal issue.”

Lin Guo looked startled at this short, plump wizard.

Then he turned to look at Zheng Qing.

Zheng Qing immediately nudged the little warlock toward the office door, murmuring as they walked: ”What time do you plan to skip class? Never mind about the goats and sheep... there’s less than a quarter of an hour left until the first class starts!”
