High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2720: Chapter 941: Report

”...The biggest suspect at present is Thomas from the assistant suspect group. He took the target into his office and then left midway. During this time, the target briefly disappeared from the guards’ monitoring range... Since Thomas is also a member of the Guard Team, Director Qian did not suspect him at the time.”

”...The Bionic Alchemy Puppet bears strong remnants of a confusion spell, which can’t be deployed by a registered wizard level, so it is initially judged that he used a talisman... The Divination Group is tracing the talisman source according to the spell traces.”

”...Other members of the Guard Team have been detained by the School Works Committee’s inspection committee. After cross-verification, there is no evidence showing other members of the Guard Team participated in this incident.”

Professor Emma stood in front of her office window, listening to the report from a wizard behind her, looking somewhat grim.

It was already near dawn; after a night of chaos, the guard team still couldn’t find Zheng Qing. The delay finally couldn’t be justified anymore, and they started reporting the security incident through proper channels.

That was when Professor Emma learned about the incident.

This made her particularly angry.

Although she’s not a true legendary wizard, her current combat power is no less than that of a Legendary Wizard, and at First University, due to the vice principal’s augment, she has other abilities comparable to legends.

So, she should have known about this incident earlier—without talking about predicting the future, just her attention to that young man should have instinctively alerted her when something happened.

But the reality was, it wasn’t until the wizard reporting the incident knocked on her office door that she realized.

Something’s wrong.

Very wrong.

The only explanation is that another legendary, or even higher-level wizard interfered with her spiritual sense. The question is, who would do that? For whom would this incident be beneficial?

In her mind flashed name after name; each had suspicions.

Just like those night stars outside the window that haven’t yet been drowned by dawn, skulking, peering at this ancient yet newly invigorated university.

...

...

”—It’s already confirmed that the bionic alchemy puppet base in Thomas’s office was a corpse of an unnamed warlock. Through Necromancy and Phoinix Oil, it was given vitality akin to a living person, interfering with the Guard Team’s spiritual sense... The alchemy method belongs to very traditional academy schooling, no black magic traces, nor any evidence showing direct relation to a Black Wizard!”

”...Additionally, according to the School Works Committee’s investigation and the Divination Group’s analysis, based on currently discovered situations, only Thomas’s conditions to commit the crime can be confirmed. Since his motive cannot be verified, nor can it be confirmed whether he acted alone or with assistance... therefore...”

”Understood.”

The principal of Jiuyou Academy lightly waved his hand, interrupting the witch reporting at his desk, and focused on revising the experiment report in front of him, as if Violet had just reported a missing squirrel from the academy.

This reaction slightly surprised the purple-haired witch, to the extent that she instinctively repeated Professor Yao’s answer in a questioning tone: ”Understood?... Sorry, sorry!”

The witch, realizing her mistake belatedly, hurriedly bowed to apologize.

”It’s okay.”

Old Yao put down the feather pen in his hand, looked up at the witch with a gentle attitude: ”After all, this incident is directly related to the assistant suspect group. At times like this, doing nothing is the smartest choice. Go back and tell Zhang Yu, joint investigation led by the School Works Committee, do as directed by the School Works Committee, what they don’t tell you to do, don’t do.”

”Yes!”

”Also, during my absence from school, what this projection can do is limited. If the matter requires high-level wizard intervention subsequently, you can first seek help from Su Councilor...”

”The one in Greenhill Mansion?” The purple-haired witch couldn’t help but confirm.

”Does the school have any other Su Councilor?”

As he spoke, the principal of Jiuyou Academy turned and looked out the window, wearing a somewhat mocking smile: ”After all, she’s considered the missing person’s ’direct relative’, she should have stormed into the School Works Committee’s office by now... but these are Mr. Ruo Yu’s troubles, not ours, don’t meddle.”

”Yes!”

...

...

Beta Town.

In San You Bookstore.

Yellow Flowered Cat stared at the tea kettle on the small red clay stove, watching the tea water boil and steam rising, swirling into one vague divination form after another above the spout, and couldn’t help but tug at its ear.

Finally, as the divination form once again spewed a sawtooth-like smoke from the spout, Yellow Flowered Cat couldn’t hold back, reached out its paw to scatter that mist, angrily looking at the elderly on the lounge chair: ”—Why all these twists and turns! You can see the future, why not simply straighten out Zheng’s timeline a bit?”

As it spoke, its tail unintentionally pushed the teacup on the table to the edge, pushing it until half the teacup was hanging on before stopping its tail.

It was determined that as soon as it heard an unsatisfactory answer, it would push that broken cup to the ground and splash that old man with water!

It’s not easy to see blood, but there’s always a chance to splash some water in front of Him.

The bookstore owner had apparently noticed the Flower Cat’s little ploy, and uncharacteristically beckoned the teacup into his hand, leisurely blowing on it: ”—Just like tea water, though it makes people drowsy, it also provides temporary clarity. Divination is the same. Destiny has a strong correcting ability; even if you temporarily change the situation through divination, it’s hard to completely alter someone’s fate. This is what old-school wizards often say as ’small trends can be changed, big trends are hard to escape’... Many believe legends can control others’ destinies, not realizing, legends can only choose the best response according to many future possibilities. Even I don’t dare claim to command the River of Destiny at will, let alone them.”

As he spoke, he noticed a cat hair floating on the surface of the tea water in the cup, shook his head, and splashed the water on the stove. Yellow Flowered Cat watched the tea water being discarded, disappointingly shaking its whiskers.

In the stove, fire tongues flipped and quickly dried the water stains.

”Since that’s the case, why have divination studies at all?” Today, the old man seems in a good state, willing to say so much, naturally, Flower Cat seized the opportunity for more chatter.

After all, the distance between Him and It was growing farther, with one word less said—whether or not people say the words of the dying are good, the old man before leaving, should impart some ’wisdom’ to it!

”Because it can temporarily help people sort out thoughts, granting us some buffer space in life.”

The elderly in the lounge chair pointed towards the direction of Silent Forest, with a gentle smile: ”Smooth sailing growth isn’t necessarily a good thing. The most powerful emotion that can make people grow in life is regret because regret makes people hope for the next time, and with a next time comes tomorrow, and tomorrow brings the future.”

This made sense.

Flower Cat didn’t rebut for once.

It stared at the new mist spraying from the spout, suddenly chuckling: ”—Destiny is indeed a mischievousness. Three guard squads, unrelated Old Yao and Emma’s people went wrong, yet it was Mr. Ruo Yu’s deployed school staff who detected anomalies, serving as an unrelated third party responsible for the investigation... Reality is truly more ludicrous than drama.”
