High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2745: Chapter 966: The 10th Weekend

Sunday is May 2nd.

Coinciding with the start of a new month.

Milly Wizard had lunch with Zheng Qing, not only trying to recruit him to join Trident Sword again, but also subtly reminding the ’supplier’ that this month’s delivery of Fu Bullets can’t be delayed like last month.

According to the contract signed between Zheng Qing and Trident Sword, the Blood Symbol Bullets are to be delivered on the first of every month.

But last month’s delivery date was slightly earlier, specifically March 29th, which was the Anti-Magic Festival. On that day, Zheng Qing and two companions went to Sakura Pub and were ambushed by crows on the way back, falling into the Sandbox Mini World and were forced to use a few Blood Symbol Bullets to escape. A week later, it was Qingming Festival, and as a school teaching assistant, Zheng Qing went to the Horseman Tribe in the depths of Silent Forest on an official business trip, needing a few Blood Symbol Bullets at hand for safety.

This and that caused April’s delivery date to be pushed back repeatedly, almost until mid-month.

Originally, Zheng Qing’s stock didn’t require such a long delay, but for one thing, to hide his true capabilities and prevent Trident Sword from seeing too much of his resources. Additionally, Su Shijun had also carefully analyzed the subtle aspects of this transaction with him, pointing out that Trident Sword’s main purpose was not those high-powered Fu Bullets but to control risks.

So, with justifiable and sufficient reasons, Zheng Qing didn’t mind delaying a few days, and Trident Sword did not charge him a late fee, only reminding the boy at payment not to be late next month.

Then came May, along with new situations.

It wasn’t about Zheng Qing being taken away by Thomas, but rather because May 1st and 2nd coincided with Saturday and Sunday, causing Trident Sword’s Beta Town office to be on holiday, with Sam’s Pass also suspending public business, hence Blood Symbol Bullets delivery was postponed by two more days this month.

That being said.

After all, he hasn’t strictly adhered to that contract for two consecutive months.

So after the ’Authorized symbol bomb maker teacher’ practice exam in the afternoon, Zheng Qing did not go to the library but returned to the dormitory, planning to prepare Trident Sword’s goods in advance, to deliver them first thing tomorrow morning.

With Zheng Qing’s original efficiency, if he gritted his teeth, he could make eleven or twelve Blood Symbol Bullets each month. However, given that his physical strength had greatly improved in recent months, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to obtain fingertip blood. Plus, considering the stability of magic power, in these two months, he only made eighteen Fu Bullets in total.

Ten of them were to be handed over to Trident Sword.

The remaining eight, plus three he had previously kept, now brought Zheng Qing’s total number of Blood Symbol Bullets to just over the number of fingers on both hands. This amount of stock might be barely sufficient against ordinary Great Demons, but if inadvertently encountering tougher opponents—like the Black Wizard Walter faced by Atonement Hunting Team during winter break—it’d be somewhat tight.

Zheng Qing couldn’t rely on luck for his safety—besides, ever since entering First University, his luck hadn’t been great.

So back in the dormitory, he frowned, drawing more fingertip blood to replenish his inventory.

Unlike those temporarily made Fu Bullets with blood, if one desires a longer ’shelf life’, blood ink needs to be carefully prepared. After busying himself for a while, Zheng Qing only made two Fu Bullets, and time had already reached 5:40, almost class meeting time.

”This stuff can cause inflammation if eaten too much, be careful about your magic imbalance in the future.”

Zheng Qing, before leaving, threw the inkstone with a shallow layer of blood ink left to the eagerly waiting Tuan Tuan, warning: ”Also, don’t use my water cup to wash your paws...I’m also a cat and can smell something amiss. If you want to wash your feet, use Fatty’s cup.”

The Fat Cat raised its rear excitedly and started licking the inkstone, making a ’ulu-ulu’ sound in its throat.

Unaware whether it heard Zheng Qing’s warning or not.

...

Last week’s class meeting, due to the matter with Thomas, Zheng Qing did not attend.

Fourteen days later, he felt like he’d never missed a class meeting—the stick figure behind the door was still sharp and noisy, the classroom was bustling, those catching up on homework sat alongside those chatting casually, clad in gray uniforms, little sprites flew around busily beneath the ceiling, picking up carelessly discarded chalk.

Everything seemed so familiar.

Entering the classroom.

The Gem Cat slipped out of Zheng Qing’s sleeve and scuttled directly towards the witch seated in the middle of the first row. The boy looked at it wit worry, fearing someone might accidentally step on it.

Right now, he didn’t have a second piece of ’mature’ Transformation Medium.

”How was the exam today?”

Jiang Yu greeted the boy arriving at the table with a light tone, looking mentally well—ever since initially learning the Art of Body Transformation last week, her condition greatly improved.

Li Meng was absent-mindedly fiddling with her feather pen, tilting her head, staring unpleasantly at the Gem Cat roaming by her and Jiang Yu’s feet, with a malicious smile that seemed she might stomp on that silly cat the next instant.

”Shouldn’t be too much of a problem.”

Zheng Qing recalled overhearing other candidates’ discussions, scratching his head uncertainly, ultimately giving the witch a rather clever answer: ”...I think, if I don’t obtain this certification, there’ll definitely be one more course in the schedule Old Yao gave me before the start of school.”

Implying he believes the Legendary Wizard already saw him passing the exam.

”A wizard may trust divination, but cannot rely on it,” the witch disagreed, shaking her head, meanwhile shifting slightly to scoop up the Gem Cat climbing up her skirt: ”—By the way, Professor Garcia sent you an invitation. You can check if you have time.”

”Professor Garcia?” Zheng Qing’s gaze shifted to the card the witch handed, his attention diverted from the Gem Cat rolling in her palm.

The card had ’Quanke comes’ embossed in gilt script on the front, surrounded by a pattern of light blue waves and white foam intertwined, instantly sparking a somewhat distant memory in the warlock’s mind.

”Is it almost Start of Summer already?”

His eyes glazed slightly, having attended a Market held by the Aquatic last year post Start of Summer. Unnoticed, it’s yet again the day for Quanke to host the market.

”Are you going?” He refocused his attention, looking at the witch.

Jiang Yu, fiddling the Gem Cat with her fingers, smiled brightly upon hearing the question: ”Yes, of course... Didn’t I work hard to learn Transformation Technique to have more energy for such things?”

Such words made sense.

”Then I’ll go too!” Zheng Qing decisively accepted the invitation.

Alongside it, handed over by the witch, was also her White Jade Cat. Perhaps it lost too much ’energy’ to the witch; right now, the White Jade Cat had its head buried under its paws, ears drooping, displaying a ’I want to sleep, don’t disturb me’ look.
