High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2490: Chapter 711: Every Sip and Bite (Part 1)

”It’s alright, I’m alright.”

”It’s fine, my teeth are fine... uh, my nose hurts a little bit.”

”It’s not a big deal, I’m really sorry, very sorry... because of a momentary mishap, I’ve caused trouble for everyone!”

Matthew Karen struggled awkwardly to get up from the door with the help of a few classmates, holding his nose, red blood seeping through his fingers, yet despite this, he didn’t forget to bow and apologize to those around him.

Zheng Qing had already been brought down from the ceiling by Jiang Yu.

A startled voice from Li Meng sounded beside his ear: ”... This is the first time I’ve seen a Vampire bleed so much! Aren’t they supposed to control their blood? Why not just suck it back in, like snot.”

As she spoke, she forcefully sucked her nose as a demonstration.

”Li Meng!” Jiang Yu shot her a stern look.

Xin Fat Man, who had just dashed over from the back of the classroom, enthusiastically explained: ”The Blood Race can control other people’s blood... Like normally, you can’t step up into the sky using your right foot on your left, or lift yourself by your own hair, generally, the Blood Race also finds it hard to freely control their own blood.”

Not far away.

Behind the classroom door.

Stick Figure shouted hoarsely, echoing through the classroom: ”... Remove these sticky things from my World! You’re not satisfied with ruining your own World, so you want to ruin mine? ... Vulgar! Overbearing! Lawlessness! There’s no sense of pride of being First University students at all!...”

Zheng Qing carefully looked over and saw noticeable creases appear on the side of the paper where Stick Figure resided, with a few drops of viscous blood on it.

”What happened?”

”What was that sound?”

”Who threw an explosion charm in the classroom?”

Many classmates who had just come to their senses began leaving their seats, rushing to the front of the classroom like frightened chicks, their sharp chirping continuous.

No need to ask others, Zheng Qing just perked up his ears and quickly gathered the gist of the situation.

Matthew Karen seemed to have been demonstrating a new magic in front of Duan Xiao Jian — reportedly developed by his uncle Duke Milton who serves as an Upper House Member in the Moon Council — and then accidentally, the spell got out of control, turning the caster into a cannonball.

”Fortunately, Matthew controlled the magic power of the spell, otherwise it wouldn’t just be a problem of a bloody nose.” A nearby classmate said with some appreciation.

”Is that just a bloody nose? His nose broke!” another Witch showed a concerned expression.

”A broken nose is better than being admitted to the school hospital in the second week of class... You think this is Starry Magic Cube, and we are those rough Blue Gown?”

”Speaking of which, Jiang Yu’s Binding Spell was really beautifully executed!”

”Quick, precise, nimble!”

”If she hadn’t been quick-witted, there would be two people with bloody noses now...”

With his heart slightly shaken, Zheng Qing watched Matthew Karen, whose face was paler than usual, walking past him. He sensed, perhaps mistakenly, that Matthew’s gaze towards him was somewhat complex.

Of course, this subtle feeling was fleeting, for him, this unexpected little episode wasn’t all that bad.

The loud crashing sound easily diverted the attention of everyone in class, making them ignore Li Meng’s previous shouts of ’Qi Yang Oil’ and ’fancy intestines’, and also giving him the opportunity to chat with Li Meng about what happened last night while Jiang Yu was handling the aftermath.

”When did your cousin go back yesterday?”

”Go back? Go where!” Li Meng gazed eagerly at Matthew’s gradually disappearing silhouette, a little absent-minded, Zheng Qing suspected she was planning to sneak some vampire blood for experiments.

But with Tang Dun and Jiang Yu there handling the aftermath, no one in the classroom could take advantage of the chaos.

”I heard last night... she was resting at Greenhill Mansion... do you know about this?” Zheng Qing tried to use vague terms to avoid Li Meng discovering his involvement in this matter.

”How do you know both of us were resting at Greenhill Mansion last night!” The Little Witch’s eyes suddenly sharpened, staring at Zheng Qing, her tone unfriendly: ”Did you follow us?”

Who’s going to follow you!

Zheng Qing muttered inwardly, while sharply catching onto a certain detail: ”Are you saying you also went to rest at Greenhill Mansion last night? Did Councilor Su invite you?”

”Sort of.”

Li Meng seemed quite pleased upon hearing ’Councilor Su invitation,’ with a reserved expression: ”Although there wasn’t an invitation letter, Su Ya mentioned at the time that Councilor Su personally spoke of it... If that’s not an invitation, then what is?”

”And then?”

”Then?” Li Meng casually fiddled with the textbook in front of her, trying hard to control the smile gradually appearing on her face: ”Then Councilor Su had me drink hot sheep milk, prepared a beautiful nightgown for me, and held Poseidon, telling me a story about a Warlock who lost his way walking on the street at night...”

Zheng Qing didn’t have time to listen to the story Su Shi was telling the Little Witch.

”What about your cousin?” He cut Li Meng off bluntly, asking concisely: ”Did she sleep well last night?”

”It’s not the first time she’s slept at Greenhill Mansion, what’s there to be well or not well.” Li Meng suddenly showed a resentful expression: ”My cousin never told me she spent winter break at Greenhill Mansion, if it weren’t for Su Ya mentioning it...”

A deafening voice suddenly sounded, cutting off the Little Witch’s complaints.

”I absolutely won’t tell you all that Old Yao is about to enter the classroom!”

The Stick Figure behind the door shouted angrily to someone unknown, while continuing to rant: ”... Today you smeared blood on my paper, tomorrow, who knows what you’ll smear! The ink from a King squid perhaps?”

For the latter suggestion, not many in the class were tempted, after all, the King squid resides in the deep sea, its ink is not cheap stuff. If one really wants to mess around, wasting expensive squid ink, it would be simpler and cheaper to smear some Fishman dung.

But the first remark from Stick Figure had an immediate effect.

The chaos and noise in the classroom was calming down visibly.

When Old Yao pushed the door open and walked in.

Order in class was restored to normal, with everyone sitting properly in their seats, even Matthew Karen had no visible signs of injury aside from a slightly pale face.

Only the Stick Figure behind the door kept mumbling about something, but the sound was indistinct, making it hard to understand. Moreover, as Old Yao entered, its voice grew quieter and quieter, until it disappeared completely.

Zheng Qing wasn’t sure whether the discipline in class was out of respect for the teacher, fear of the Legendary Wizard, or due to apprehension of the rumors about Old Yao’s other identity.

But he knew, every time Old Yao’s black, smiling little eyes scanned the classroom, everyone knew what they should be doing.
