High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2487: Chapter 708: A Discussion About the Dean of Edge Academy

If there is any news that can capture the attention of most wizards around the world after the new year, it would be the confirmation of the establishment of the Edge Academy by the First University.

From the day before the start of school, after this matter was spread in a class meeting of a certain Legendary Wizard, for a full week, the debate about the new academy remained in a boiling state. However, as the news fermented, the crowd discussing the matter had shifted from the interior of the First University to outsiders, from within the Alliance to the groups including the New World, the outer Starry Sky, and even the Demons; the focus of the discussions gradually shifted from the impact of the new academy’s establishment to more detailed content, such as whether the Evil God worshiping groups belonged to Fringe Wizards, and whether the New World natives had the right to enroll in the Edge Academy, and so on.

As Doctor Du Zemu, who has had the good fortune to reach a cooperation agreement with the Edge Academy, naturally, he heard the term ’Edge Academy’ quite often during this time.

However, these four words carry different weight when spoken by one of the two deputy deans of the Edge Academy.

”Edge Academy?”

The skinny Alchemist behind the desk grew slightly more serious in expression, sat up straight, showing an eager-to-listen demeanor.

Professor Montreya did not keep people in suspense; he straightforwardly said, ”Do not vote, do not sign petitions, do not participate in any public discussions related to internal matters of the Edge Academy...because you have a cooperative relationship with us, that’s why I say this.”

Clearly, when he mentioned ’us,’ he meant ’Ravens.’ The implication is that if it were merely an Alchemical Laboratory with a cooperative relationship with the Edge Academy, he would not have bothered to remind him.

As for the ’voting,’ ’petition signing,’ etc., it was related to the Edge Academy not yet having determined its dean.

Although outsiders do not know the specific plans of the First University, since the newly established academy does not have an official dean, it means everything is possible; the final outcome still has room for change.

So in recent days, not only internal organizations of the Moon Council, Wizard Council, Trident Sword, and Danghag Alliance but even large Hunting teams like God Zhou, Xianqin, Holy Tang, Hydra, Justice, Holy Cross have joined the battle for the Edge Academy dean’s selection, starting public opinion propaganda.

Today, ”Beta Town Post” reported about an Elder Wizard who had diligently dedicated fifty years to researching the ’13 simplified ways to cast the Binding Spell’; the ”Daily Horn Newspaper” praised the Hydra hunting team for using Alchemical reform to make hundreds of Wizards with poor qualifications into excellent Hunters the next day; at the same time, ”Ganges Daily” would introduce an ascetic who had silently helped thousands of Low-level Wizards for over a hundred years, teaching magic to their children, casting Protective Spells for their gathering places, etc.

All kinds of touching stories emerge endlessly as if overnight, the Wizard World was flooded by excellent wizards, so much so that when someone discussed environmental pollution caused by the migration of the Horseman Tribe, they were labeled with discrimination against Fringe Wizards.

Du Zemu even heard of an Average Wizard who, after failing to enter the First University, specifically traced back to find evidence that his forefather’s brother was a ’Trickster’, attempting to join the Gini Wizard Group and sneak into the Edge Academy.

”Regarding the selection of the dean for the Edge Academy...is there any particular consideration from the school’s side?” The owner of the laboratory carefully asked, choosing his words thoughtfully.

Professor Montreya paused for a few seconds.

”Do you know the name Mike Gold Cypress Plano?” He did not answer Doctor’s question directly but instead posed another seemingly unrelated matter.

Doctor Du Zemu lowered his head, thought for a moment.

”Seems like it’s the name of this year’s Augustus?” He was somewhat uncertain.

The professor just slightly nodded and recounted a story: ”When Sepulano first entered school, he established a hunting team called Ouroboros. During last year’s Winter Hunting, this hunting team successfully avoided attacks from mutated Ogres and escaped into the Array before the School Guardian Array unfolded...At that time, the team captain was no longer Sepulano but another Alpha student named Andrew. Because of that decisive and successful command, the originally ordinary Andrew has now become one of Sepulano’s most likely successors.”

Doctor Du Zemu furrowed his brow, unable to grasp the deeper meaning of the response.

Professor Montreya evidently realized that he might not be well-suited for this kind of ’indirect teaching,’ sighed, and first activated a three-layer Barrier before speaking directly:

”The destiny gathered by thirty people during Winter Hunting is enough to uplift an ordinary Wizard to go farther, then three thousand people, thirty thousand people? The establishment of the Edge Academy successfully gathered the destiny of the fringe individuals, these corner materials that the high-ranking Big Wizards looked down upon, gathered together, and only then did people suddenly realize that there are indeed so many fringe individuals in the world...This destiny is enough to support a Big Wizard to lean towards the fringe of Legend and the Legend’s fringe—even the most fringe Legend is still a Legend—this is a big piece of meat, attracting numerous covetous eyes, also a bait, making many become fish on the chopping board.”

He had explained clearly enough.

Doctor Du Zemu silently lowered his head, pondering for a long time.

Yet when he raised his head, he mentioned something entirely unrelated: ”By the way, I also heard about that Magical Biology Teacher, it’s truly unfortunate... I heard he was a very excellent wizard.”

”Nothing to be unfortunate about.”

Professor Montreya’s fingers lightly moved without immediately dispelling the surrounding Barrier: ”Do you know how we developed to this point today? We never rescue those not worth rescuing or matters that aren’t worthy of saving, no matter how valuable they may appear. In this cruel world, to survive, everyone can only rely on themselves.”

With those words falling, the surrounding Barrier was quietly dispelled.

Then the professor got up, picked up his cloak and Pointed wizard hat.

Doctor Du Zemu muttered behind him: ”...By the way, you shouldn’t come here at night.”

Hearing this, Professor Montreya, who had already draped the cloak, couldn’t help but turn around, spreading his hands and looking at the owner of the room: ”The last time we met, you said to me ’should not come here during the day,’ so I specifically chose a night with good moonlight to come...but now you say, I shouldn’t come at night either...when do you think is appropriate?”

”It’s most appropriate for you not to come at all.” Doctor Du Zemu replied very seriously.

”You are now a collaborator of the Edge Academy, and I am a deputy dean of the Edge Academy. Is there anything unspeakable about our meeting?” Professor Montreya adjusted his Pointed hat, the cloak flicked up, and in the blink of an eye, disappeared from in front of the doctor.
