High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 2451: Chapter 672: Thursday Afternoon

Just like the hot topics on the internet only last for two days.

The excitement in reality also has its time limit. Zheng Qing and Xiao Xiao originally predicted that this wave of rumors about the ’Teaching Assistant’ might continue until the second week of the semester before gradually fading away. However, in fact, under the continuous high-intensity bombardment by newspapers and public opinion, by Thursday, students’ attention towards Zheng Qing had started to drop sharply.

”Everyone’s energy is limited, especially in our academy—studies, assessments, hunting, and even the approaching spring mating season—it’s impossible for everyone to focus too much on a single news item. The little patience they have left is now allocated to more important matters, like the Edge Academy.”

While saying this, Xin Fat Man was sitting at the dormitory desk eating his lunch, holding a greasy chicken leg in his hand, his equally greasy mouth opening and closing, like a goldfish spouting bubbles.

Zheng Qing also opened his mouth, seeming to want to say something.

The Fat Wizard waved his arm without the chicken leg downward, making a forceful gesture.

”Listen to me!”

His attitude was firm, his tone certain: ”I’ve been in the editorial department for nearly two years. Although I can’t say I have the campus’s public opinion in the palm of my hands, I’m quite confident... If public opinion had a line drawing, according to the trend of the past few days, today everyone’s attention towards you will certainly be a large negative line; just as the saying goes, extremes meet, the ’youngest Teaching Assistant’ officially starts the first class this afternoon, contrary to which many people will lose interest...”

Zheng Qing frowned, wanted to say something, but hesitated.

The Fat Wizard stuffed the chicken leg in his hand into his mouth, took a satisfied big bite, and licked his greasy lips, continuing with undiminished interest: ”...If you don’t believe me, you can remove the Invisibility Talisman during your class this afternoon and see the classmates’ reactions. As we often say in the editorial department, rumors and gossip are like a gust of wind, blowing away and gone, as long as you survive the storm, the mess left behind can be cleaned up gradually!”

Zheng Qing finally couldn’t hold back, putting down his chopsticks.

”First of all, I really appreciate you bringing me breakfast, lunch, and dinner these days. Thank you.”

The young assistant bowed with both hands on his knees, solemnly expressing his gratitude, then raised his head, his expression somewhat subtle: ”If it’s really like you said, then I’ll go to the cafeteria for dinner myself tonight... Secondly, I have to teach the Edge Academy’s students this afternoon, I definitely can’t bring the Invisibility Talisman, your ’if’ has no value at all. I was planning to remove the Invisibility Talisman in the first place. Lastly...”

At this point, he paused, seeing the Fat Wizard’s expression of intent to argue, suddenly grinned and quickly finished the last sentence, ”Lastly, I’ve actually been trying to remind you, your lunchbox of tomato beef has already only tomato left.”

Slurp!

On the desk, Fat Cat’s head lifted from Xin Fat Man’s lunchbox, a circle of suspicious red sauce hanging by its mouth. It purred innocently, giving the two Warlocks a very assured look that there was always just a pile of tomatoes in the dish!

Ah!!

After a few seconds of silence in the dormitory, a heart-wrenching scream resounded, its mournful tone startling the dozing Sprites hanging on the tent, who fluttered into the air, looking around confused.

...

...

Thursday afternoon’s class was a Fu Lu Class for Zheng Qing, but it was a volunteer service for the young Wizards in Astronomy Class 08-1.

Their service was for the Edge Academy preparatory students.

Though, because of different identities, their way of heading to the Edge Academy’s temporary base was different.

Ordinary students, like Jiang Yu, Xiao Xiao, Xin, Zhang Ji Xin, and others, will gather in the First Hall, led by the School Works Committee’s staff which will guide them to the destination.

As the Teaching Assistant, Zheng Qing needed to sign in at the Assistant Team’s office first, then head directly to the teaching scene via the ’staff passage’.

This was a little different from what Zheng Qing imagined.

”If you’ve graduated, or are the Teaching Assistants of other faculties, you wouldn’t need such trouble.”

It was Thomas who guided Zheng Qing through his first class process, his entry guide when he enrolled, but this time he was acting as a senior Teaching Assistant to answer Zheng Qing’s doubts and questions: ”You could very well go to the classroom like normal classes. But not now. On the one hand, Edge Academy’s base is still under construction, the temporary base is located a bit remote; on the other hand, being an in-school student taking on the role of a Teaching Assistant is unprecedented, everyone’s a bit flustered...”

The ’everyone’ he mentioned naturally referred to the Assistant Team’s group of Teaching Assistants.

Zheng Qing could already imagine how Hilda would tease him in Friday’s practice class.

”It’s all right, it’s all right, whatever works.” The young assistant had no objections, even wishing Thomas would leave him at the classroom after leading him there: ”Have you taught them before? Are those students at the Edge Academy easy to talk to? Anything I need to pay attention to? Like any taboos in language...”

He clearly remembered when he first learned about the Wizard World, Thomas sternly warned him ’not to casually draw out the Law book for others,’ ’not to ask others about their lineage,’ ’not to call others Tricksters’ and so forth. He felt he might need some new ’taboo knowledge’ now.

”I’m in charge of their practice class on Friday, haven’t interacted with the new students at Edge Academy yet.” Thomas evidently understood the young assistant’s nervousness, comfortingly patted his shoulder: ”As for the colleagues who have taught them state that those kids are very attentive and polite in class, the classroom atmosphere is great... it’s just their comprehension ability is slightly weak... So when you teach, try to slow down, maybe repeat the same concept a few times.”

While speaking, the two had already passed through lakesides, walls, rivers, and forests, the corridor beneath their feet transforming from exquisite splendor into ochre yellow, unfinished wooden beams exposed in the air, intermittent sections of runes appeared on the beams yet to be connected together, surrounding air emitting a constant fresh aroma of untouched wood.

Then, very abruptly, the corridor disappeared somewhere, transforming beneath into a low and soft grass lawn.

The lawn lay upon a gentle slope.

On the slope, a variety of tents were erected, some tents even set upon carriages. Across the cloaks, further beyond the slope’s end was a stretch of exposed rock, from Zheng Qing’s position, he could see the rock as it met the horizon and also hear the continual crashing waves outside the rock.

”You guessed right, the new campus of Edge Academy is located at the edge of Buji Island, on a cliff.” Thomas said in Zheng Qing’s ear.
