Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2438: Chapter 2374: There’s Someone in the Lake

After Wang Yi finished dealing with personal matters, he emerged from the woods with Chiang Xiao, glanced at the lake, and asked, ”Should we still go over and have a look?”

Chiang Xiao thought for a while and said, ”Let’s go and have a look. I rarely see such beautiful lake scenery, let’s go and capture a view.”

After returning, she would be able to paint a few pictures.

The purpose of coming out was partly for this too.

She had originally thought that in this lifetime, she would travel to more places and see beautiful sights from various locales, but so far she had only been to Country Y, and most of the time was spent in Mr. Wen Li’s estate, without much sightseeing.

So now, since she happened upon a beautiful view, she naturally wanted to take a look.

There’s a boat, perhaps it’s the property of a nearby village resident.

As they reached the top of the slope, they looked back at Meng Xinian and Chen Yin, who were busy with something, and didn’t say much more.

As the two of them descended the slope and approached the lake, they realized more and more that the lake water was so clear it almost had a greenish tint. The wildflowers by the lake bloomed in a riot of color, swaying in the breeze, looking very pretty.

What’s rare is that where the wooden boat is anchored, there’s also a small sandy area, with sand that is white and fine.

”Isn’t this place a kind of earthly Immortal Realm?” Wang Yi exclaimed, ”Xiao Chiang, did you bring paper and paints? You could paint this scene!”

”I actually think it would be better to buy this place, then build two two-story white wooden houses. We can come here to vacation and relax for a couple of days.”

Chiang Xiao became interested too and said, ”If this lake has fish, that would be even better. We could have fishing competitions sometimes!”

”That would be great!” Wang Yi’s eyes lit up, ”I wonder if this area is for sale?”

Chiang Xiao looked at the wooden boat and noticed for the first time a set of clothes on it—a military green kind of rough cloth, and a pair of cloth shoes.

She immediately pulled Wang Yi back a few steps.

”There’s someone in the lake.”

Wang Yi was startled.

”Could they have gone swimming? But it’s still so cold...”

The lake water must be cold too, right?

Yet, there’s a boat, so someone must be around.

They had previously assumed the person had gone elsewhere and would return later, never thinking there would be someone in the lake in this weather.

But then, as if to fulfill Wang Yi’s words, there was a splash, and a head emerged from the water not far from the boat.

The person wiped the water from their face and looked over.

The face had a wheatish skin tone, with well-defined features and deep-set eyes, looking like a mixed-race individual.

It was hard to judge the age just by looking.

However, from the shoulders and arms exposed above water, it was apparent that the person wasn’t wearing any clothes.

Chiang Xiao immediately turned to leave with Wang Yi.

”Hey! Girls!”

The person shouted.

Upon hearing the shout, Chiang Xiao’s body trembled, and she quickly turned back.

The man had already stood up when he called out to them, indeed with his upper body bare; seeing them turn back, he quickly submerged, only leaving his head above water.

”Do you have any male companions with you? If so, could you call one to help? I caught a big fish, but it’s stuck between the rocks, and I can’t pull it out by myself. If you get someone to help, I’ll give you half of the fish!”

Catch fish?

Chiang Xiao looked at him, into his deep eyes, and took a deep breath, saying, ”Yes, wait here.”

Wang Yi grabbed her arm, ”Xiao Chiang, do you really want them to go down and help catch the fish?”

”I do.”
