Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 2423: Chapter 2359: The Real and Fake Red Jade Pendant

But now, everything is still unclear.

”It’s Xiao Fu’s handwriting, though somewhat sloppy,” Ah Liu said. ”The person who delivered the letter back then said Xiao Fu just found some paper and pen at the station and wrote it. I believe this because Xiao Fu is a devoted son. When he heard his parents were in poor health, he must have been very anxious.”

”So back then, Uncle Xiao Fu’s parents were really unwell?”

”Yes, it’s true. Later, when I sent people to his house to look for Xiao Fu, it was confirmed. Therefore, I didn’t dare let them know Xiao Fu had disappeared, afraid it might worsen their condition.”

”What happened later?”

”I left them some money to ensure they could get proper treatment. But yesterday, I asked Grandpa, and he said, within half a year after I disappeared, Xiao Fu’s parents also passed away one after the other. Their illness was infectious, and the couple refused to be apart, so they departed together. Grandpa paid for their funeral, and their relatives helped to arrange it.”

Upon hearing this, Chiang Xiao felt somewhat regretful.

She also sensed the guilt in Ah Liu’s words.

Perhaps he felt that Xiao Fu went missing because of him, and as a result, he couldn’t rush back to handle his parents’ funerals, feeling somewhat sorry for Xiao Fu.

Both father and daughter fell silent for a while.

”If what Uncle Xiao Fu said back then is true, it means, Dad, the token you gave Lu Shuangshuang, which she returned, is still with Uncle Xiao Fu. So as soon as we find Uncle Xiao Fu, the truth will come out.”

”Logically, yes.”

”Then why can’t we ask Lu Shuangshuang to show the token?”

”She wears it.”

”What?”

”It’s a red jade pendant, and there’s a mechanism in the pendant that can release a ring. She’s still wearing it now.”

”Are you saying it’s difficult to tell if it’s real?”

”Yes, Little is really smart. That red jade pendant, without comparison, can probably be replicated, but if hers is fake, I can confirm it by holding it, whereas others would need the real one for comparison to tell. What would happen if only Dad said it’s fake?”

Chiang Xiao didn’t hesitate, ”They’ll surely think Dad doesn’t want to marry Lu Shuangshuang and is thus falsely claiming the red jade pendant is fake.”

At that time, there would likely be many insults.

After all, others haven’t seen the authentic red jade pendant, and since the breakup wasn’t announced, who would believe him if he suddenly said it?

As soon as Lu Shuangshuang cries and acts like she’s been bullied and wronged, Ah Liu would become the heartbreaker Chen Shiming, wasting twenty years of her youth and now wanting to abandon her.

Moreover, her presence would also become the reason for Ah Liu’s heartlessness.

At that time, countless people would go after Chen Zhu.

For this reason alone, Chiang Xiao wouldn’t allow it.

Should this matter be dug up again?

She took a deep breath and said, ”Dad, let’s work together to find Uncle Xiao Fu. Do you have a photo of him? Send me one.”

”There’s only one group photo from back then where Xiao Fu is standing at the back, hard to see.”

”It’s okay, let’s try our best. Surely we can find him; can a person really disappear into thin air?”

”Yes, Dad will also send people to look for him. I’m telling you this because I want you to know that Dad has already broken off the engagement with Lu Shuangshuang. It doesn’t matter what others think, but you should know.”
