Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1397: Chapter 1399: Directly Given to Her

Xu Yiqiu’s destiny had changed, and so had the course of emotions between Wang Yi and Chen Yin.

Now she had no idea what would happen to them.

Everything would just have to take its own course.

The next morning, she took Meng Xinian shopping at the department store. They bought a lot of candies and biscuits, and a new kind of egg cake that’s sold by weight. The egg flavor was strong but they were quite delicious.

They also purchased two sets of beautiful white porcelain dinnerware and tablecloths, as well as several large bouquets of flowers, which they used to decorate the yard and the living room upon returning.

She set up what would later become a trendy buffet-style banquet layout. Pretty tablecloths were spread out, draping down to the floor, with candies, pastries, and biscuits beautifully arranged on dishes set out on the tables.

As for the teacups, they were taken from her own ’Space’ collection, custom-made white porcelain with various shapes, though she hadn’t yet drawn talisman diagrams on them with Magic Brush.

However, the tea that was brewed was her home-made flower tea.

Then they placed beautiful vases in the corners and filled them with fresh flowers.

The yard was transformed into a place that was delicate, beautiful and atmospheric.

Meng Xinian, directed by her, worked busily for half a day without a single complaint.

Upon completion, indeed, it looked very unique.

”Did you learn this from a foreign movie?”

Chiang Xiao was taken aback, then smiled.

In the future, there would be no need to learn from foreign movies.

The way she thought of hosting guests, this was the simplest.

”I think we should also set up a barbecue grill, so we can have grilled meat,” Meng Xinian suggested.

All right then, a Western-style buffet, and now he wanted to add barbecue?

Whatever, if he liked it, then that was fine. So, they really ended up getting a charcoal stove and added a grill, crowding the table with plates of meat ready to be cooked.

Chen Yin was the first to arrive.

He came with two big bags of gifts and was instantly impressed by the decoration upon entering: ”This looks nice.” Turning to look at Chiang Xiao, he realized she had grown up; she truly was a young lady now.

Had he really, without knowing, delayed Wang Yi for such a lengthy period of time?

”Chen Yin, what are you daydreaming about?” Chiang Xiao asked.

Chen Yin snapped back to reality, ”Sister-in-law, long time no see.” He handed the gifts to Chiang Xiao, ”I still have some things to fetch from my car.”

Chiang Xiao took them, and he turned to leave, quickly coming back with a huge bouquet of fresh flowers.

Meng Xinian raised an eyebrow.

Was he still into these gestures?

Chen Yin quickly explained, ”Sorry, this bouquet isn’t for you guys.”

”Is it for Wang Yi?” Meng Xinian asked.

Chen Yin nodded, looking at Chiang Xiao, ”Sister-in-law, will she come?”

Chiang Xiao sized up Chen Yin, feeling there was some indescribable change in him.

”I’ve invited her, but I’m not sure whether she will come or not.”

While talking, Mr. and Mrs. Liu Guoying arrived.

”I say, Xiao Chiang, did you buy this house? Or is it a Meng Family property?” Liu Guoying couldn’t help but exclaim upon entering.

Chiang Xiao glanced at Meng Xinian, thinking, her teacher had a good family background when he was young; he sure knew his stuff.

”Teacher, this is Brother Xinian’s house,” she paused then added, ”However, it was given to me.”

Chen Yin, hearing this, looked at Meng Xinian in surprise.

He knew how much Meng Xinian had spent on this courtyard.

Two hundred thousand, plus the renovations, totalled two hundred and thirty thousand.

He had thought it was meant for getting married, but the property was still in Meng Xinian’s name, eventually to be Chiang Xiao’s upon her marrying into it.

It never occurred to him that Meng Xinian would transfer the house directly to Chiang Xiao?
