Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1375: Chapter 1376: To Find or Not to Find

”What are you thinking about?”

Meng Xinian sat beside her, wrapping an arm around her slender waist.

Chiang Xiao thought for a moment, and still decided to tell him about the matter Old Master Bai had mentioned to her.

After she finished speaking, Meng Xinian frowned slightly, without a word, he cradled her face and attentively examined her features.

She doesn’t look like her, not a bit like Madam Li.

Jiang Yingqiong is Sixth Young Master’s biological elder sister, they should bear some resemblance by all means.

”Why are you looking at me like that?” Chiang Xiao was a bit confused by his gaze.

”You don’t have any features that resemble Madam Li,” Meng Xinian stated affirmatively.

Chiang Xiao was momentarily taken aback, and after hearing this, she didn’t know how to feel.

Then she heard Meng Xinian continue, ”However, I don’t know if Madam Li and Sixth Young Master look alike, so this doesn’t prove anything. Since there is a hint of doubt, let’s clarify it. Let’s wait for news from Chu Liang, if he can find the Sixth Young Master, I’ll take you to meet him directly, and you’ll know by seeing with your own eyes. If there is no news from Chu Liang, I will find a chance to ask Madam Li, to see if she really resembles the Sixth Young Master.”

Chiang Xiao blurted out, ”Then why can’t we ask Madam Li now?”

Meng Xinian shook his head, ”You don’t know about the complicated situation of D State Jiang Family, and how much time and effort they put into searching for Sixth Young Master. Any small clue can cause a great stir in the Jiang Family. So, let’s wait for the news from Chu Liang.”

Otherwise, he was afraid that she would suddenly get caught up in the Jiang Family’s disputes, only to find out in the end that it was not the case. That would add countless troubles unnecessarily.

Chiang Xiao understood his point and nodded. ”I understand.”

Meng Xinian affectionately stroked her head, ”Do you really want to find him?”

This ”him” of course referred to her biological father.

Chiang Xiao was silent for a moment, then said, ”Not really. In fact, I had never thought about finding him before, didn’t care who he was or what kind of person he might be; I even felt that not knowing might be better than knowing.”

In her previous life, she had heard too much idle gossip from the villagers and the Old Chiang Family’s speculation, subconsciously believing what they said, thinking that a man who could have a secret affair with Chiang Qingzhu and then disappear without a trace, completely irresponsible, must not be a good person.

So she always felt that it was much better for this person not to appear.

His appearance might bring her more problems and humiliation.

In her previous life, she didn’t want to find him at all.

This life, she had the same thought initially.

But during the New Year, after hearing what Old Master Bai said, her thoughts suddenly wavered.

What if her biological father simply never had the capacity to take responsibility? What if he was intellectually disabled?

Indeed, Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao also occasionally discussed the man mentioned by Old Master Bai during this time.

Their thoughts were somewhat more realistic than Chiang Xiao’s.

”Uncle Hai, if what Old Master Bai said about that man being Little’s dad is true, what do you think we should do?”

Chiang Songhai took a drag on his cigarette, then sighed.

”We might not be able to find him.”

”But I think Little intends to search for him.”

”Let her search if she wants to. We must try,” Chiang Songhai sighed again. ”Which child doesn’t want to know who their father is? Little has lived so many years without parents, she’s had a tough time indeed.”

Ge Liutao was somewhat sad, ”Of course, I also hope she has parents like other children, but this one, he,” she found it difficult to say, pointing to her own head, ”I’m just afraid if Little actually finds him, she might end up being laughed at instead.”
