Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 1390: Chapter 1392: Just So Capricious

After finding out that Chiang Xiao received her admission notice from the art academy, Meng Xinian took some time off and came over.

Chiang Xiao was holding and eating her own homemade red bean paste, sitting on the sofa while flipping through a foreign masterpiece.

Meanwhile, Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao were constantly packing.

School was starting soon, and they planned to pack Chiang Xiao’s things first, allowing her to head to Capital City a few days earlier.

Seeing Meng Xinian come over, Ge Liutao quickly asked him how many days of vacation he had.

”I heard that trains are really crowded these days, it’s tough squeezing on a train. If you have a long vacation, could you accompany Little Little to register at school?”

Meng Xinian nodded, ”Grandma, I will definitely take Little Little to school, but we don’t need to bring so much stuff. We can buy it there.”

”How could that be okay? If we have it at home, we should bring it. Isn’t it a waste of money to buy it there?” Ge Liutao shook her head and continued packing.

Chiang Xiao pulled Meng Xinian aside and whispered, ”Let grandma pack, I can handle it, it’s not tiring.”

Meng Xinian knew what she meant by that; was she not just saying that she could stash it away in her Space?

He pinched her face, ”Eat less cold stuff. Are preparations almost done? Should we buy train tickets for tomorrow?”

”Yep, Brother Chu has already bought them,” Chiang Xiao raised two fingers, ”two tickets, including yours.”

Meng Xinian couldn’t help but laugh, ”So sure I would take you? What if I wasn’t free?”

Chiang Xiao huffed, ”If you’re not free, then I’ll just take up two seats myself, being willful!”

Meng Xinian burst out laughing.

However, he had not taken a break for twenty days before this just so he could save up his vacation for when she went to Capital City, to accompany her.

This time when Chiang Xiao was heading to Capital City, she did not plan to take her grandparents along.

She didn’t have a house in Capital City and did not want to live at Meng Family’s place, so she had already decided to stay in the dormitory. It would be inconvenient with her grandparents.

And Chiang Songhai and Ge Liutao felt somewhat uncomfortable with the weather in Capital City, feeling more comfortable staying in the province.

They believed that with Chiang Xiao’s teachers and their wives at the school, she wouldn’t be helpless, so they weren’t too worried about her.

As for the Meng Family, it was said to be quite far from the art academy. Chiang Xiao and Old Meng Meng Chaojun just occasionally called each other to catch up; Chiang Songhai also felt there was no forcing it.

And now, Ge Liutao felt completely justified—her Little Little was doing very well, even became the top scholar in the province, and Meng Xinian, busy as a Supervisor Guard, if the Meng Family still looked down on their Xiao Xiao, they might as well break it off, and she wouldn’t feel much angst.

So, grandma’s change in perspective was not slight at all.

Of course, these were her subconscious thoughts, and she hadn’t voiced them.

After all, she was still quite satisfied with Meng Xinian himself; it’s just that she didn’t care so much about the opinions of the older Meng Family members anymore.

Close to the start of school, true enough, the trains were packed.

Luckily, with the tall and sturdy Meng Xinian protecting her, Chiang Xiao was shielded onto the train, not squeezed by anyone at all.

Just that the smell on the train wasn’t very nice.

Meng Xinian kept her protected inside, occasionally peeling oranges or peanuts for her.

With him accompanying her, time seemed to pass very quickly.

However, upon arriving in Capital City, Meng Xinian didn’t take her to the art academy but instead hailed a taxi and took her directly to the city center.

Seeing the route, Chiang Xiao was surprised, ”Are we going to the shop area?”
