Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 851: Chapter 852 Kick the Door Open

”I was just about to pay,” Old Meng said sternly.

The man immediately laughed, ”So that means you haven’t paid yet, right? I paid my money! Whoever pays for the goods gets to own them! Hand it over! Otherwise, I won’t be polite to you!”

”How are you going to be impolite to me?” Old Meng barked angrily.

”I’m warning you, old fart, we’re about to celebrate New Year, and it’s better for everyone to be cordial. Hand over the sweet potatoes right now, and I might let you off the hook; otherwise, don’t blame me for not respecting the elderly and loving the young!”

To talk about ’respecting the elderly and loving the young’ after calling oneself ’old man’?

Old Meng was so angry his face turned green, and he became even more reluctant to back down. He reached into his pocket and took out his money, pulling out a one yuan note to give to the vendor.

”Take my money! Refund him that one yuan! It was clearly me who bought it first!”

Seeing that all the other people had left and only the three of them remained at the station, the vendor, honestly afraid of courting trouble, quickly pushed his cart away.

Now, both Old Meng and the man felt that they had paid.

Because the vendor took one yuan from each of them!

”You old piece of shit! It looks like you’re asking for it! At your age, dying would be the most suitable thing for you!” The man’s face was ferocious as he swung a fierce punch towards Old Meng.

Old Meng didn’t expect him to actually strike him over two sweet potatoes, and instinctively threw the bag of sweet potatoes at the man.

”I don’t want to eat now; I just want to beat you to death, you old coot!”

The man swatted the sweet potatoes away and threw another punch towards Old Meng’s face.

When Chiang Xiao and Chu Liang arrived, they witnessed this very scene and immediately inhaled a breath of cold air.

Chiang Xiao didn’t care what had happened before; how could she possibly stand by and watch Old Meng get hit?

Although Chu Liang had also sprung into action, Chiang Xiao was much faster. She dashed over like a leopard, launched a kick, and sent the man flying, crashing right onto the two sweet potatoes, squashing them flat.

”Grandpa! Are you alright?”

After kicking the man away, Chiang Xiao anxiously checked on Old Meng.

Old Meng initially didn’t recognize Chiang Xiao, as she had grown up so much. But as soon as she called him grandfather and he heard her voice, he immediately recognized her.

”I’m fine, I’m fine, Little, how could you really come to pick up grandpa so late?” Old Meng looked at her in amazement. He hadn’t expected that Xinian and Chiang Songhai would let her out so late, especially to a place as chaotic as a train station.

However, he couldn’t deny that he was quite pleased, feeling that his granddaughter-in-law really cared.

And seeing her swift actions just now, Old Meng also admired her skill.

Well done, beautifully done!

”Yes, Grandpa, it’s cold. Let’s hurry and get to the car. We’ll let Chu Liang handle things here,” Chiang Xiao said.

Chiang Xiao trusted that Chu Liang could handle the man.

Because they were picking up Meng Donghai in the evening, Chiang Xiao asked Zheng Yucheng to borrow a car, luckily Chu Liang knew how to drive.

The car was definitely warmer than outside, even if just by a little.

Once they were in the car, Chiang Xiao immediately draped a scarf around Old Meng’s neck and then took a vacuum flask from a tote bag beside her, opened the lid, and handed it to Old Meng.

”Grandpa, you must be starved. Have some soup to fill your stomach and warm up, and we’ll eat more when we get home!”

The fragrance was enticing, the steam billowing.

”Chicken soup?” Old Meng was taken aback.

Chiang Xiao said, ”Yes, chicken soup that has been simmered all night, very rich.”

Old Meng eagerly took a couple of sips, feeling a warmth spread throughout his body.
