Rebirth: Splendid Marriage in the 80s

Chapter 890: Chapter 891: Whoever is Stupid Will Marry

It had been a year and a half since she last saw Meng Xinian at the hospital, and she hadn’t seen him since.

Upon learning that he had gone to attend a year-long special training, she had even breathed a sigh of relief, thinking she could use this year to forget that obnoxious man. After all, she was a girl with her own pride! How could she possibly still think about him after being humiliated by him at the hospital entrance?

But she just couldn’t stop thinking about him!

A year had passed, and she had been thinking about him all the time and even saw him in her dreams occasionally!

Du Jinruo felt utterly hopeless.

The more she thought about Meng Xinian, the less she cared for other men. Her parents were starting to get anxious, too, since Gao Wei had let the cat out of the bag. Now and then, they even gave her educational talks.

The Meng Family’s situation was something the Du Family looked down upon.

As the only son of Meng Chaojun, Meng Xinian couldn’t secure a good standing even within the Meng Family, which implied how high Duan Qingqing’s social status must be.

Marrying into the Meng Family as a daughter-in-law would surely mean hardship!

Another point was that Meng Chaojun hadn’t shown much progress over the years, and it was uncertain if they could support each other as in-laws in the future.

Moreover, Meng Xinian himself was someone who fought hard; having loved to fight since childhood, and it was said that he even had the reputation of being a bully in his team. Who knew if she would be mistreated by him if they were together?

And finally, there was the talk that he already had a fiancée, a young girl from the countryside, rather improper and of a small age!

After tallying it all up, the conclusion was, ”Any woman who marries him is a fool.”

Du Jinruo admitted that the points made about the Meng Family were sensible, and the situation with Duan Qingqing made her feel timid, but she disagreed with what was said about Meng Xinian.

In Meng Xinian, she saw a blazing flame.

How could such a man get involved with a young girl who was improper? Was it the young girl they met the last time?

The way Meng Xinian looked at that young girl had indeed made her heart sour, but she didn’t sense anything improper about them.

Now that she knew Meng Xinian had signed up for the Elite Supervisor Guard competition, she was supposed to be on vacation but ended up excitedly taking leave to participate.

”Hey, today the one most likely to take the title of Elite Supervisor Guard King is Lv Ping,” whispered a female soldier beside her, tugging at her sleeve. ”Lv Ping has a good relationship with Gao Wei. Do you think Gao Wei will come?”

”If he comes, he comes, what’s that to me?” Du Jinruo replied, somewhat irritated.

For some reason Gao Wei just wouldn’t give up, no matter how many times she had rejected him!

”Jinruo, you should really just settle for him. Gao Wei has a good family background, is a student at the Supervisor Guard Academy, and is handsome, too. What more could you not be satisfied with?”

This kind of talk was almost too much for Du Jinruo to bear.

Just because the Gao Family was good and Gao Wei had favorable conditions, did that mean she had to accept him?

”Do you only look at these things when you consider a partner for yourself?” she asked with a slight frown. ”Don’t you consider whether you actually like the person or not?”

The other party laughed out loud, ”Jinruo, don’t be funny. If the conditions are that good, how could you not like him?”

Du Jinruo suddenly felt at a loss for words.

Many people around her held this view; they couldn’t understand why she didn’t like Gao Wei when his qualifications were so outstanding.

Naturally, the Du Family was also quite decent, but when compared to the Gao Family, they were indeed slightly inferior. A marital union between the Du Family and the Gao Family could be considered a match of equals.

But she just didn’t like Gao Wei!

”Quick, look! Gao Wei and Lv Ping are together!”
